An open plan, one-bedroom studio in a traditional Sicilian style home. With two skylights and two balconies, it's a sun-drenched apartment on a quiet street in the historic center of Cianciana, southern Sicily.
++ If you stay a week or more, there's no cleaning fee! (I'll deduct it from your reservation) ++
I'm an artist and writer who likes to share my small studio with other creatives, when I'm living in Asia. My home is designed explicitly for an artist's and writer's needs: a flexible live-work space with a great view of terracotta tiled rooftops, and next to a park that leads to olive groves and lemon trees for long walks to get your ideas flowing.
If you're hungry, there's a great pizzeria and plenty of cafes just around the corner.
For day trips, the striking beach of Eraclea Minoa is just over a half-hour's drive (recommended to rent a car). Or catch a bus to inspiration at the Greek temples of Agrigento by the sea - just 45 minutes away.
Included to stay connected: a dongle with 5GB for (very basic) internet usage.
The studio was featured in the Sunday Times on 21st July, and was filmed for House Hunters International in 2012, just as it was being finished.
** I live in Beijing most of the year, so you will usually pick up the keys from a representative from the Cianciana MyHouse estate agency. [They have a cleaner prepare the studio between every guest's stay.]
** Out of consideration for the agency, reservations must be made two days or more in advance. Thanks for your understanding.

Elizabeth's rustic studio apartment is a beautiful, peaceful place amidst the picturesque hills in the enchanting town of Cianciana. The location is central for exploring the many marvellous sights in the area and only a 40 minute drive to the beach if you prefer. The people of Cianciana are very welcoming and friendly and there are several good restaurants a short walk away, as are most of the basic necessities. Don't miss the Tuesday markets where you can have a delicious lunch of Milza and Panelle from Domenico's stall. Highly recommended for a summer sojourn but can get a little cool in winter, but none the less cosy. The apartment came equipped with all the basic necessities, even for our one month stay, and the staff at My House Agency were always happy to help make our stay more comfortable.
We enjoyed the nice view of the mountains and the tile roofs from the balcony. The hot water in the shower was plentiful and the pressure was great. The bed was quite comfortable. The rooms were chilly in January but the agents at My House brought us an extra heavy comforter. They also fixed a broken light and were working to get the hot water faucet in the kitchen sink working. The guys at the My House agency were great. Carmelo immediately started calling people in the next town when my wife told him she was here looking for relatives of her grandmother. Alphonso gave us great restaurant recommendations and made sure we knew all about the lovely village of Cianciana. Joe, who grew up in the UK, helped us with everything else, especially how to get around. They let us use their office wifi (the internet dongle wasn't functioning while we were there). Elisabeth's place is very basic, simple and peaceful. It's on a very quiet street. Most of the time the only noise we heard was the birds in the morning and the bells of the church. We found the people of Cianciana were very welcoming and friendly.
We have stayed at Elizabeth's place a few times now. Was as lovely as ever and Elizabeth was the perfect host from afar, looking after us very well and with generosity.
Would recommend this spot to anyone for a relaxed and rustic break in this beautiful town.
Lovely place to stay. Elizabeth is, as always, a great host from afar. Responding really quickly to any questions that we had by email.
We stayed here in spring time which was beautiful and again now in december, this time a lovely cosy and great place to explore from.
This was our second stop in sicily. The communication with Elisabeth works very well. Alfonso who takes care for everything waited for us to hand out the keys and showed/explained the apartment to us. The apartment itself has so much character, starting at the door and ending at the shower or the roof windows depending on what you discover first. The hot water supply works very well but I am not sure if we have used it properly because of the sound it made that remembered me on the landing scene of 'apocalypse now'. Anyhow, my girlfriend fell in love with this apartment and came to the idea to buy such a one as well. How much more can I say? Uhm yes, you have to like to get up with singing birds. Lovely but early.
Cianciana: very small city, we did not give it a chance to show her loveliness, because we preferred to visit the surrounding cities (sciacca, agrigento, caltabelotta)
A nice, enchanting, little appartment close to the center of Cianciana. Really spartanic, but with everything you need for a short stay. I really adored that little balcony and the light that enters in the morning when you open up...
Thanks to Elizabeth for her charming apartment decorated with taste. A haven of peace where it is good to think, read, take the time to rest and even create. However without car it is complicated to get out of the village.
It is a lovely Sicilian apartment in a small and welcoming town. It is approximately a 40 minutes drive from the beach. Nothing to complain about we had a lovely time.
Elizabeth's studio is a beautiful, peaceful place in the picturesque, charming Cianciana. On a quiet little road, with the town's best pizzeria minutes away, it provided the perfect base to explore the surrounding area - including the magical unspoilt beach at Eraclea Minoa and the ancient Valley of Temples in Agrigento. We loved our stay there - it was the wonderful beginning to our Sicilian holiday. Elizabeth was extremely generous and helpful, and provided us with lots of info about the area, and responded quickly to any questions.
I came across this apartment due to the fact that I have family in the town over. First of all, staying in a house that has won on an episode of house hunters international is a check on my bucket list! The apartment was spotless clean, and felt like home. The location is very easy to get to by car or bus, and is a 2 minute walk to the center of town. I would say you are missing out if you don't stay here.
