Marlenny and Freddy are the sweetest people that I met on my trip to Costa Rica!Their place feels like a home away from home with a great breakfast, use of the kitchen, and fresh coffee from their own plantation. Each morning I was able to sit outside on the patio and watch beautiful little birds with their bright colors eating from the hanging bananas as I had my breakfast. Freddy was so helpful in assisting me with my travel plans in getting from one place to another. I enjoyed my stay there very much and I highly reccommend it to anyone planning a visit to Monteverede!
A very nice place to stay for a while. The host was very helpful. I would definitely recommend it!
We enjoyed everything about our stay here - clean and comfortable room, delicious breakfast, great location, very friendly and helpful staff. Highly recommended.
We had an amazing time at El Pueblo. We booked a few tours with the receptionist. They ended up getting canceled due to poor weather. Monte Verde was having abnormal winds for the time of year we were traveling. Freddy took care of a refund immediately. The room was clean and towels were fresh. We had trouble finding the hotel. You must make a right at the Tree House Café in center of town. Marlenny sent the receptionist to assist us. Wonderful service. Very cool place. Its a must do! We will be back.
The place was a little bit tricky to find, but was very clean and quiet and a very good value. Marlenny was helpful in helping us find restaurants and in booking a rainforest tour. Breakfast that was provided was a welcome perk. Thank you guys. I would stay here again at this price for sure!
Hosts were super friendly and warm. They helped me book a last minute zip line tour and that turned out to be the highlight of my trip in Monteverde.
The hostel does get cold, so the free hot tea and coffee definitely helps. One of the showers was plenty hot, which was nice since it was quite cold/rainy when I stayed (1st week of December).
Remember to close your windows as bugs DO get in.
The price is really decent for a private 1 bedroom.
This is definitely a Hostel type room. While they cook the meager breakfast - everything else about it is "hostel". I was downstairs in the main portion off the kitchen and living room. There are four bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. During the day, including showering time and anytime a guest from other areas wants to enter this area with their key they can and they also have access to the 2 bathrooms. Many guests come in this area for breakfast so you are left trying to shower while several people are hanging out near the bathrooms. There appears to be no heater and the rooms are cold, esp when it is rains non-stop as it did for 2 days when we were there. Lighting in the living room is very dim, making it hard to sit there and read or play a game with a friend. Warm water (not hot) for the shower is at a dribble pace.
The hosts and their son were very nice and helpful, as were the other guests. We were driving and it was very hard to find, so ask locals and they will be able to direct you once you get to town. It is on a back road behind the main portion of town. The kitchen is very complete and good for individuals who want to cook their own food.
If you are comfortable with all of the above, then this may be the right place for you.
I very much regret their drawbacks in my hostel, Unfortunately when you ask me room you wanted the cheaper, you did not want to pay for a room with private bathroom.
Then I also want to let you know that Monteverde is located in the mountains, here there are no heaters in any hostel, it is illogical to want to get much, paying so little, and not because it is an evil far hostel, unless they want to pay little money and get many luxuries you do not find either a 3 or 5 stars.
I'm sorry Sidney, I hope your holidays in another part of the country, perhaps they can leave better recommendations.
