About this listing

I offer a simple but eclectic homestay, like the original intent with which Airbnb began ( I offer beds, not an air mattress!). Comfy, not fancy. I serve homemade muffins and coffee, which seem to have a universal appeal. Read full description!

The space

Skiing at Apex or enjoying the beach? Touring the wineries? Visiting a friend or relative with little extra space? Pausing on a long journey? Bring me your traveler's stories!
Check in and check out times may vary depending on my work schedule, but generally as indicated.
Room with two single beds, desk, closet space, is sunny in the morning, quiet at night. Plain but comfortable. Share my single bathroom, kitchen, and living space in my simple rancher on a dead end street. Pleasant private back yard with herb, flower and veggie garden...showing depends on the season. 10-15 minute walk to the main town to access wi-fi coffee shops and free wi-fi sites, restaurants, museum, art gallery, grocery store. 5-10 minute drive to Okanagan Lake beaches, walking trails, Kettle Valley Train, Giant's Head Mountain Park, and several wineries. Parking for your vehicle, wi-fi internet available. Fresh linens and towels provided. Use of washer and drier, or hang laundry and beach towels outside during summer heat. Please note that my cat friends have died, but I do not guarantee an allergy free house, although your room has always been cat free.

Good little home to stay. Two small beds. Provided parking and fridge space. Heather was lovely. Very helpful and greets with coffee and muffins in the am.

Nothing is close to anything in Summerland, so a vehicle is pretty much needed. Heather is a great host and great to talk to. The single bed was fine for an average sized guy like me.

We stayed 2 days and found everything in place when we arrived. The room was fresh & clean. Towels etc in the bathroom. Also we were offered a space in the fridge if we required it. Heather was friendly and welcoming and very knowledgable about there area. She provided us with many shopping ideas for local places that sell fine crafted jewelry, art and the swap meet in town on our way out with local fruits vegetables, wine and all sort of things. It was like staying with a relative actually. Heather was very interesting and has wonderful stories to share. I would definitely recommend her and the location was perfect for all the things we had planned. We would definitely stay again!

My husband and I had a wonderful stay with Heather. Her home was just as advertised. Heather was warm and welcoming! What a lovely touch to be fed muffins and coffee in the morning! Ask Heather about what Summerland has to offer... There is lots to see and she is very knowledgable!

Heather was a wonderful host, very friendly and welcoming. Her place is exactly as described. What I liked most was the coffee and muffins in the morning and a wonderful conversation about books!

Heather S. User ProfileHeather S. is a superhost.

I am educated and self-employed, an artist and a gardener, an eclectic reader (Spider Robinson to Wade Davis). I once had Siamese house cats; I now feed a feral stray in my back porch. An omnivore who appreciates good but simple food, good but inexpensive wines, I use local food when possible, and bake my own bread. I have a compost bin, and recycle everything possible. I listen to CBC, and appreciate music, a good turn of phrase, and have a sometimes weird sense of humour. I attend a life-drawing group every week. Occasionally I still play my guitar. Am not presently able to travel, but enjoy tales and photos from those who do.
