Hot water in the property is heated using solar panels and we also have a refreshing pool available full with water from our well powered also with solar electricity.
There are two common terraces in the property with pool chairs, excellent vantage point to gaze into the central valley volcanoes. There also are nature trails where you may spend some time watching toucans and our in-house sloth friend that we share with our neighbors, from the back property you'll also have a spectacular view to the mountains of San Isidro de Atenas
Interaction with Guests
Either Jonathan or Vera are always in the property, also there is a person who is in charge for the night shift. We love to spend time with people and to being able to give you our best advice to enhance the costa rican experience up to different level
Our neighborhood is called Vista Atenas which is part of the larger district of Sabana Larga. It's a two road area which gets little traffic, very quiet and safe. We love it because it is very green with lots of forests and amazing views, lots of places to go for uninterrupted walks
The best way to get back and forth if you don't have a car is to use the taxi service in town which only cost $5 each way. We offer free parking area for your car. Also the walk to town is really fun, it'll expose you to the costa rican culture at a different degree, it would take you about 45 min.
Other Things to Note
Because of the location of Atenas within the central valley of Costa Rica, its easy access to the two major highways in the country the Panamerican and 27, we are 30 min. to downtown San Jose and the Juan Santamaria International Airport and only one hour thirty minutes to the Central Pacific at Jaco, Herradura, Carara Biological Reserve and from here it's much to organize the trips to some of the most important highlights of the country like Arenal Volcano, Poas Volcano, Monteverde, Santa Teresa & Montezuma
We love animals however we have our own dog and cat and for their own peace and tranquility we've decided not to allow others in the property. Please smoke only outside of your room or by the terraces. We love kids however this is a place where people come to rest and finish their book in quietness therefore we can't accept them
This place is as beautiful as shown. Our cottage was spacious with the most amazing heavenly blue hues throughout and nicely appointed furniture, inside and on the patio as well. It was so comfortable. We had a chance to thoroughly relax in our brief overnight stay. We enjoyed every single minute. Deserves a minimum 4-5 night stay in my estimation. Lovely dining area with overlooks of the valley. The sunrise was gorgeous, breakfast was fabulous and Jonathan is a great host. Highly recommend this beautiful place.
We loved this BNB. The view is spectacular and our room was spacious. The water pressure on the shower is less than perfect but we came out clean. The weather at Atenas is more than perfect and this BNB is at the perfect elevation to enjoy the wonderful breezes.
We had a wonderful time at Vista Atenas - it really is surrounded by nothing but beautiful nature. Our room (with kitchen) was nice and spacious with everything we needed. Jonathan was very helpful - he speaks perfect english and can provide you with everything you need to know about the area. Perfect stay!
All over Costa Rica there are jaw dropping views but to live with one every day is a very different experience. The view from our casita was unmatched, ever changing and, at times, awe-inspiring. But the real treasure of this place is the people. We were treated like family and enjoyed our many interactions with not only with Jonathan (who is completely bi-lingual and very well informed about lot of things) and Vera, but all of the staff. From the gardener who brought us bananas to Sadie who gave us impromptu Spanish lessons. We were made welcome and it made the stay pass far too quickly. It is a simple place with basics provided but nothing more. However, we tended to live outdoors mostly and went to bed early in order to make the most of the day. Sitting on the patio, drinking coffee in the morning was an experience that would be hard to find in the fanciest hotel. We will definitely return.
