About this listing
The second room that I have available in my home. Standard double bed with couch seating for 1. There are two bedside lockers and a wardrobe that has four shelved areas for clothing also. The room is directly above the sitting room and is very quite.
Castlebar is situated on the West Coast of Ireland. We are the county town of Mayo. The Wild Atlantic Way route is less than 15 miles from Castlebar (Westport) We are 45 minutes from Ireland West Airport. There is a population of 8,000 (approx)
The guests will have access to the whole living space including full use of the kitchen. Should you wish to cook I'll be happy to offer you a specific area in the fridge etc. will be made available. There is no extra charge for cooking or food storage. The premises is a typical 3 bed roomed semi-detached family home. Regretfully I don't have a shower facility in the public bathroom but will provide an ample supply of hot water. I also provide a guest room key and house key during your stay. I live alone.
Interaction with Guests
I work as a restaurant manager and only intend making the room available on days that I work. Therefore I'm happy if guests decide just to have a relaxing day lounging around the house if they decide to do so. When at home I work on-line as a golf blogger and social media commentator.
I live on a street which is the entrance to a small housing development. I can guarantee a very quite experience should you decide to stay with me. I'm very lucky with my neighbours and feel that they will be an addition to your visit should you bump into them.
Castlebar is a relatively small town. My house is within walking distance of the town centre. There is a poor bus service from Castlebar to surrounding areas. Should you decide not to hire a car, I will be as helpful as possible in helping you get around.
Other Things to Note
I've noticed one 4 star comment about the location of my home but hope that my profile and guest list clearly shows the exact experience you will receive if you stopover in Castlebar.
As mentioned earlier I live alone and am happy to allow guests use the house as if it is their home. There is also the use of a bicycle, set of golf clubs and two tennis rackets but not all at the same time.
We enjoyed very much staying with you. Paul was a great Host, we had very good discussions with him and learned a Lotto about your Country.
A nice place to stay!
Kind regards, Sabine & Matthias
Staying at Paul's house made me feel from the beginning very warm as he was still available for even though we arrived at 11:10pm. We got a hot tea as welcoming after our three hour drive from Dublin. The room was good, nothing spectacular, but quiet situated in resident area of Castlebar. Paul allowed us for the next morning to sleep out as long as we want and we got a good, irish breakfast. The really only disadvantage was that there was no with this room. Only a bathroom on the floor with bathtub. No that bad for us, as we are used to some days without shower through our hikes, but for others this might be difficult. Thanks anyways for the great stay for an unbeatable price. :)
We loved the friendliness and the total Paul's helpfulness. He also gave us the possibility to use the kitchen and internet service. The description was accurate and the neighborhood quiet.
Even though we needed an extremely last-minute accommodation in Castlebar, Paul went out of his way to accommodate our AirBnB request, even though he had a busy schedule himself. We had a fantastic stay and Paul provided us with a great experience; he thinks of the little details that make a stay truly special. The rooms, the details, the breakfast - Irish hospitality at it's best. I can't praise him enough as a host and would absolutely stay here again the next time we are in county Mayo.
Such a gentleman, Paul was nice and welcoming from the very first moment. He provided lot of information about his country, also about football and golf. The chat was very interesting. The room was cozy and the bed very comfortable. We arrived at 10PM at there was not problem at all.
Paul was very helpful and left us his house to ourselves. Its centrally located and the welcoming bowl of fruit and buns in the morning were really appreciated. We got more than we expected!
Myself and my wife were supporting our friends in the Westport Gael Force marathon competition and we stayed at Paul's home in nearby Castlebar. The home was very clean, tidy, and Paul provided refreshments and fresh towels. Paul was an excellent host, very friendly and accommodating and he shared lots of history and information about the Mayo area. He even helped us out with transportation, we had a great stay!

About the Host, Paul
I am a restaurant manager with an absolute passion for golf. Very active on social media during the golfing season. Host the The Golf Show on IRISHTV and also write a weekly golf column in the Connacht Telegraph.
I started working in the tourist industry after I left school and am looking forward to welcoming people to the West of Ireland. I'm a real front of house type of person and signing up with Airbnb as a host is probably the ideal job for me.
My friends tell me that I'm very laid back and a real people person. I'm interested in most sports, enjoy world politics and current affairs and spend a majority of my time on social media getting the message out there about how wonderful a trip to Ireland can be.
