Both my wife and I stayed in Georges beautiful Apartment for 4 nights. Extremely clean and in a great location near some amazing restaurants and only walking distance from many of the "hop on hop off" bus pick ups!
George met us upon check in and showed us around. The apartment was just lovely and in a perfect location. We enjoyed our stay and will book again!
George was welcoming and helpful. The studio apartment was exactly as presented in the photos and description - spotlessly clean, nicely furnished, very comfortable and located in a great area, very close to transport, great places to eat and it was very quiet. Highly recommended.
We had a wonderful stay at George's place. It is located in a great neighborhood within walking distance to the Haight and Golden Gate Park. The studio apartment was well equipped. George was friendly and very helpful and I would not hesitate to reccomend his place to my friends.
The property was clean and easy to get to and is in an amazing location; however, we had a HORRIBLE experience with our host.
When I read the reviews prior to renting the property, all I saw were positive details concerning previous renters interactions with George, so naturally I felt very comfortable booking the location. I am not sure if George was having a particularly bad day when we checked in, but I have NEVER experienced a more aggressive or rude interaction before in my life.
My flight was delayed and I arrived at the property a few hours after my friends did. George was prompt and greeted them immediately and went through the rules of the house, which one concerned the locking of the side corridor door that led to the entrance of the rental property. This was stressed and my friends were aware that they needed to ensure it was locked at all times, especially upon our leaving of the house.
When I finally arrived, we were all very excited and started to unpack and visit with local friends. My friend forgot to shut the side door while my other friend ran to the corner of the block to grab snacks & drinks. I was there for perhaps 10 minutes, when George angrily knocked on our door. I went out to introduce myself and without a pause, he began to yell at me about the opened door (which at the time I had no idea about), and I mean YELL at me. I was so shocked that I didn't know what to say. I kept apologizing and explained that I just arrived, but he continued to scream at me that there were no "excuses" for our behavior. He said that his house had been robbed once when forgetful guests didn't lock the door when they left for the day. I apologized profusely and tried to explain that we were not leaving, but simply sitting in the main room. I then said I was sorry that he had been robbed and he yelled, "Why are you sorry? You didn't rob me!" He then threatened to cancel our reservation, kick us out right then, and report us to airbnb. I kept apologizing and began to feel scared with how angry he was, and how aggressive he was being. He then demanded to speak to my friends, but I told him I would speak to them to save them from such verbal abuse, but he insisted. He then proceeded to yell at them even though they were apologizing that it hadn't been open for more than 20 minutes. He threatened to kick us out again, then left as our friend was coming back. We were so shocked and intimidated that we talked about leaving, but realized we had no money to pay for our stay elsewhere. We triple checked all doors after that and left for most of the day as we didn't want to run into him again.
While I have had many great guest with many great reviews there is always an exception, I suppose. Lila and her friends were one.
A specific item I mentioned to all my guest as I did with Lila's friends is that all doors leading in from the front outside area must be closed if left unattended. While the neighborhood is fairly safe and quiet, I do live in close proximity to Golden Gate Park where a huge homeless population resides. My concerns were that if the side door leading to the backyard was left open for whatever reason someone could gain entree and vandalize either the studio for Airbnb guest or my apartment or my long standing tenants apartment.
Additionally, a while back I had posted signs on these doors specifically instructing guest to keep these doors closed and locked when entering or exiting the property.
Later, upon my return from the gym I noticed that the door was wide open an unattended. No one was in site.
Entering the property I found Lila and her friends inside, door closed to the studio totally unaware that this door was left open.
Lila immediately gave blame to another guest who was a friend of a friend that had gone to the park his car returning to the studio moments later with a 6 pack of beer.
Yes I was angry. This was inexcusable and totally irresponsible on Lila's part as my guest. I was tempted in terminating her arrangements and asking her and her friends to leave.
Reading her review she was correct in my demeanor at that moment however, she should have acted maturely and at least excepted the responsibility for her actions
especially when taking on the position of being a guest at someones home.
My house rules are simple and should be followed. I am not only responsible for her, her guest and their property while they are at my house but also my other 2 long term tenants.
I believe I acted accordingly.
Host sent excellent information. met me when I checked in. neighborhood lovely. Right near gorgeous park. Apartment very clean, nicely furnished. Fresh flowers on arrival. Would definitely recommend.
This place was great! Peaceful, private and quiet. It was clean and comfortable. In a good central location for being among locals, right off the park panhandle, easy beautiful walk to Golden Gate Park and local restaurants. The host was very nice and accommodating. I enjoyed being able to come and go as we pleased without disturbing anyone. We had a great experience in San Francisco!! Also someone was playing the piano upstairs and it was beautiful! We took a nap to it!
