This house is huge and was perfect for a winter escape if the weather outside is frightful. The large well equipped kitchen was a great surprise, we didn't end up going out to eat once because it was so spacious and enjoyable compared to London living.
It's perfect for guests who don't drive as it's a very easy short walk from the ferry. There are sea views from the top two front bedrooms. The water is at the bottom of the street and you can turn right for a nice short walk along the water or left to the shops and the chain ferry ( a five minute ferry!) to west cowes with more shops, restaurants and pubs.
There aren't any beaches close by but we caught a taxi to the needles on the opposite side of the island for £40 and it was really worth it. We also brought day passes for the buses at £10 a day which was great value if you don't mind spending time getting places.
We had some issues with the wifi which were sorted out by the host. We also had difficulty with the wood burner, possibly our fire making skills but it was a bit cold without this to heat the house especially as it is quite big. We spent a lot of time in the front living room with the gas fire place going, which the hosts kindly arranged to be on for our arrival.
Three of the rooms are doubles for adults and the other two rooms are more for teenagers/children. One has a double bed bunk and the other a small single child's bed.
It was a great three day break from London, really easy to get to and would be perfect for a longer break in summer especially if you had a car to get to the beaches in other areas on the island.
We thought it was really great value, for a lovely home with a big backyard. Plus all the locals are nice and friendly.
Thanks so much louise
Richmond Villa s very welcoming and spacious. It was a perfect choice for our group of 9 with 2 small children. We especially liked the large kitchen with the garden just outside the door, and the big dining table.
The location is quiet and yet central: just a short walk to the Southampton ferry and the chain ferry to bustling West Cowes. We shopped at the supermarket nearby and enjoyed the beautiful Solent promenade at the end of the street.
We explored the island by bus and car, and were happy to return to our comfortable home-away-from-home at the end of the day.
Our host Louise was quick to reply to any queries and was very helpful throughout, also with arranging the rent of a cot for our youngest guest.
A fine house for our large group, and a very enjoyable stay for all.
Amazing house! A great location close to Cowes and just off the promenade.... the house is beautifully decorated, and well equiped with everything you would need. The garden an added bonus! (and we were lucky with the weather to be able to enjoy it!). Highly recommend this place... hopefully we will be back!
