Hidden Gem That's Close To It All!

House - Entire home/apt · De Haro St, San Francisco, CA 94107, United States

Our beautiful house sits atop sunny Potrero Hill with gorgeous west-facing views... this means lots of light year-round to enjoy inside or in our back garden. This sweet, welcoming home is roomy, comfortable and a place where great art + beautiful plants abound!

The Space

We have a wonderful house in Potrero Hill that is tucked up on the hill with amazing views of the city. You feel away from it all when you are here but downtown is just 10 minutes away and the Mission district is just a short walk down the hill.

The layout of the space is great, it is two stories with an open floor plan, high ceilings, wood floors + lots of light. The downstairs has the living/dining room area + kitchen all with hardwood floors. The living room has a TV with cable + a DVD player. There is also a large bathroom downstairs with terra cotta tiles and a big skylight over the tub. Upstairs there are three bedrooms all carpeted. The master bedroom is large with a queen size bed and huge windows overlooking the city. The back bedroom is medium in size, has a queen bed and views of our lovely secret garden. The third bedroom is a small but adorable kids room that has two bunk beds (Note: these beds are smaller than a regular twin bed, the bottom bunk is: 28 in wide x 65 in long. The top bunk is 30in wide x 72in long). There is also a double-sized futon located in the downstairs closet that can be used anywhere in the house. The house is very comfortable and has a lovely, homey feeling. Below these two floors is a garage with washer + dryer.

There is a designated parking space in the driveway in front of the garage. The block that our house is on is a single lane road which is awesome because it makes our block feel away from it all... but it also makes for some unique parking! If you have a large car the driveway spot is a bit tough to maneuver, but there is ALWAYS parking within a block of the house - if you have a normal size car the driveway works great.

The back garden is terraced with three levels, great for sitting on the deck, reading a book and enjoying the sun or shade. There are several big fruit trees and a maple, as well as jasmine, lilies and much more. And right out the back gate is a huge open field where the neighbors walk their dogs and enjoy the spectacular view of San Francisco.

Potrero Hill is a fantastic neighborhood that is next to the Mission district and SOMA. It is in the southern part of the city so has the best, warmest weather in San Francisco. There are great coffee shops (Farley's + Coffee Bar, Philz + Dynamo donuts) and restaurants (like Chez Papa, Flour+Water, Piccino and Mission Local Eatery) close by. Several bus lines run from a hub within 5 blocks of the house, and Bart is accessible at the 24th street station in the Mission which is about a 20 minute walk.

About us: We are two creative professionals; one graphic designer, one filmmaker, as well as an amazing 8-year old and a delicious 2-year old, both girls! Being two creative professionals our house is adorned with lots of art. We are looking for responsible people to stay in our place when we're not there. We now live across the Golden Gate bridge, just north of SF, but keep this sweet place for city use. Please email us with your specific dates and we can let you know if the house is available.

We love this place and hope you do too!
We look forward to hearing from you...
Kate + Matt

  • Had a great experience staying here with a friend for two nights, it was easy to get to and was surprisingly large inside. Might want to be careful if you have kids or are older, the stairs are quite steep! (gates are provided at top and the bottom)

Neighborhood is great, we found plenty of local gems... my favorite was being able to walk to Dynamo for the best doughnuts and coffee.

Overall, a great place to stay that is private yet close to plenty.

  • We loved our house. It is located in a quiet neighborhood that overlooked beautiful San Francisco. We were able to walk to the Mission District to cool coffee shops. We were minutes from Whole Foods and a bunch of great restaurants on 18th street. The house is clean and the backyard is relaxing and peaceful. We would call Kate and use her house again.

  • Bel endroit pas trop loin du centre ville dans un quartier typique de San Francisco.
Appartement sympa aux équipements un peu vieillots.
Accès et organisation simples et faciles.
    Ravi de notre séjour.

  • We had a wonderful stay! My two young children had plenty of room to run around and there were gorgeous views of the surrounding city, especially at night.

  • This house was a fantastic place for the four of us for the weekend! The views are spectacular, the house was very clean and everything went super smoothly with 'easy to follow' directions from Kate. We were very happy with our first experience using airbnb and with our stay at Kate's place. :)

  • Kate's place is a classic San Francisco experience. Décor is warm, simple and artful, the master bedroom has an amazing sweeping view, and the whole place feels inviting and airy. Kate is a very well organized host, super attentive, and nice! Would recommend this place highly. Thanks again, Kate, for helping make a visit to my hometown and my wife's birthday weekend truly memorable.

  • The house is quaint and nice. However, the shower did not work for the three days we spent there and Kate did not reply to our text message. The vent over the stove did not work either. We spent a lovely day in Napa Valley and when we came back to the house and wanted to taste the wine it would have been nice to have a wine glass instead of the chunky drinking glasses. I would recommend Kate to invest in a couple of cheap wine glasses.

    Response from Kate:

Thanks for the review Margareta... and we are so sorry that you had a problem with the shower during your stay. The shower has been fixed with a brand new fixture replacing the old one... so this won't be a problem in the future. Unfortunately, I did not receive a text message from you - my guess is there might have been a problem because the text was coming from an international cell phone - I've had this problem myself many times when traveling in Europe - but regardless we were so sorry to not get this text during your stay, as I consider myself very responsive to communications with our guests. We'll take your advice and get some more wine glasses - we have had many in the past but they seem to suffer the most from breakage... but indeed it is nice to drink some fine Napa wine out of a proper wine glass. Thanks for the feedback. We wish you the best! Kate + Matt

  • This was a lovely place in a beautiful location. Kate was helpful and friendly. We had a great time.

  • The place is nicely maintained and has great light. The backyard is lovely. BUT the third bedroom - labeled kids room with bunk beds - is not a bedroom. The beds are not real mattresses, only thin foam things, there's no door and no window.

My daughter refused to stay in there. If you have young kids maybe it will be fine, but for my 5'5" daughter it was claustrophobic. And doorless. She ended up on the floor in the master bedroom with us. Not exactly what we intended.

Really, it should be called a two bedroom - and a room for children old enough to sleep in a bunk bed, young enough not to care if they have a door or a window or room for a suitcase. Truly, it's a closet.
