Beautiful historic Duckpond neighborhood in downtown Gainesville.
Words cannot express how gracious Susannah was, and the attention she gave our family during our Christmas holiday in her 2 bedroom home. She is a superior host that responded to any of our communications within minutes, and check-in and check-out was a breeze. The 2 bedroom home in downtown Gainesville was gorgeous, charming, historic, chic, elegant, immaculate, and most importantly, our perfect home for the Christmas holiday. We had a 7 foot artificial tree in the dining room, with plenty of room left so that at least 6 people could dine and open presents. The gourmet kitchen was wonderful and had everything you would need for casual meals, and for more special meals with entertaining. We loved the washer & dryer, fast wifi, and the screened patio. The neighborhood is quiet, parking is on the street, and a Publix market is 2 minutes away. Every, single thing about this stay was perfect, and I am so grateful for hosts like Susannah that make their guests #1.
Thank you so much, Valerie!! I'm so glad that your vacation was exactly what you wanted as it's always my goal to put my guests as #1, so was super happy that it was achieved!
It was a true pleasure hosting you and your family- you were such great guests and greatly appreciated. I highly recommend you and your family to all future hosts as you made the experience of hosting such a pleasure. Thank you and happy 2015!
We first want to thank our host Susannah for making us feel at home, we absolutely loved our stay at the Red House! The house was amazing, so convenient and spacious. As we entered the house for the first time, the sweet smell of cleanliness immediately hits you and reaffirms the excellent maintenance of the house. We would definitely stay here again and will recommend it to our friends & family.
The dining, living and bedrooms are nicely furnished and decorated. The kitchen is very spacious and had everything needed to cook. We had an early Xmas dinner for 12 persons, the kitchen was spacious enough for preparing the different courses, and we were comfortable enough using the dining, living and Florida rooms. There was enough soap, shampoo, body wash, toilet paper, etc. in the two large bath rooms. One bathroom does not have a shower, but has a beautiful claw bath tub. We stayed 8 nights and there was enough of everything we needed. However, if needed, there is a Super Walmart, CVS and Publix just a few minutes away.
The garden is beautiful and there is a very nice backyard covered area with large table and gas heater. The location of the house is excellent, located in the historic area, close to downtown and has a beautiful pond with ducks, geese and swans. The narrow streets are a little tricky, I did lose orientation a couple of times, but it was fun! However the positive is that there is very little traffic and the area is great for walking.
Susannah was very prompt in responding to my emails and questions. I highly recommend our host Susannah and this house.
What an incredible long holiday weekend we had in Gainesville! This house was unbelievable. It is as beautiful in person as it is in the pictures and also had a swing set out back and a bigger playground two blocks walk away for my kids! Also within walking distance is downtown Gainesville with the hippodrome theater and tons of amazing restaurants, including our favorite, Amelia's Italian. My incredibly skeptical parents are now interested in booking airbnb in the future because of this house. I was able to cook our Thanksgiving meal and pies in this kitchen, wash the kids clothes after said pie in the washer and dryer, and we all slept amazing on the super comfy beds with clean, soft sheets and blankets. Susannah was a kind and attentive host. She made sure all of our needs were met. I would feel confident renting any property Susannah has available. She really knows how to provide a comfortable home experience.
Thanks so much, Lisa! I'm so glad you had such a great visit and was so excited that you all took advantage of the backyard (and the park- it's such a great park for getting kids' energy out:-)!). Amelia's is definitely an incredible restaurant that I highly recommend to future guests as well.
Also, I'm so glad to know that your parents are now going to be AirBNB users- I've always had great experiences both as a guest and as a host with AirBNB.
I hope to host you and your family again in the near future!
The house is cute, beds and pillows very comfortable, and the screened porch and courtyard in back provided wonderful places to sit outside. The location is very walkable to parks and to the downtown area with lots of dining options. Susannah provided great service from check in to check out - was very responsive to every question. Will definitely be a repeat customer for any future needs in Gainesville!

About the Host, Susannah
I am a nature photographer, super happy hostess to out-of-town guests, dress designer (Strawberry Blonde Clothing), wife, mother, etc... and I love to help people get to know Gainesville and all it has to offer. I strive to earn a 5-star review from all guests, and have recently earned Superhost Status from AirBNB, so you will be in good hands.
I regularly write photo articles for HOME Magazine (in which you can find great things to do in Gainesville). I take very good care of my guests by making recommendations for restaurants, things to do, etc... I have been a landlord for quite a few years, and have many repeat customers and referrals. My photography company is called SP Fine Prints, which you can find if you use a search engine. I look forward to hearing from you.
