The Space

Casa Villa Romana is a gracious studio apartment of 35 square meters (about 377 square feet) which sleeps two people. It is situated in the center of Minori, 200 meters (about 656 feet) from the beach and the sea. Casa Villa Romana is only 4 km (about 2.5 miles) away from Amalfi.

There is a double bedroom on a mezzanine, a bathroom with shower, and a living-room with a kitchenette. The studio is equipped with air-conditioning and winter heating.

The place

Casa VIlla Romana is on the first floor of a beautiful age-old house typical of the Amalfi Coast. It is located in Minori in a central residential area. From its windows you can enjoy the view of ruins of a villa of the ancient Rome.

Minori is an enthralling small town near Amalfi. It is nestled on a narrow valley which stretches up to the sea, where it becomes a bay in a crescent-moon shape.

The town of Minori is enclosed by sea and rocky walls covered in green due to cultivations of lemon trees. The prevailing colors of such splendid panorama are the bright green of lemon orchards and the blue of the sky and the sea.

The sea and the large sandy beach of Minori are approximately 200 meters (about 656 feet) away from the house.

You can reach them on foot after going for a pleasant walk. On the beach, you will find bars and restaurants, and in case you want umbrellas and deck chairs, they are available for rental as well. The beach is framed by a long public garden (so-called Lungomare) which is a place where you can go for a stroll, sit at the tables of outdoor cafes, or even go shopping.

Minori is famous for its sweet specialties, and you have to try the candies and desserts of its pasticcerias (bakeries)!

You don’t need a car during your stay at Casa Villa Romana, but if you have one, you can book a pay parking space.

There are shops and restaurants 30 meters (about 98 feet) from the house .

The house

You will arrive at the house after going along a pedestrian path and climbing 15 steps. You will enter a living-room illuminated by two high windows. In the living-room you will find a table, chairs, a couch, a satellite-dish TV, and a kitchenette. A staircase leads to the double bedroom, on a mezzanine. The kitchenette is equipped with a four-burner stove, a fridge with freezer, and an oven. The bathroom is equipped with a shower. There is a washing machine in the bathroom.

The living-room is 1.90 meter high (about 6.2 feet) and the bedroom is 1.75 meter high (about 5.7 feet).

The house is completely furnished and pleasantly decorated.

Nearby tourist attractions

Amalfi is about 5 km (about 3 miles) away, and Positano is 15 km (about 9.3 miles) away.

Minori is connected to other towns of the coast through buses of the company SITA. From the harbor of Minori, ferries leave to Salerno, Amalfi, Positano, Capri, Sorrento, and Naples.

Staying at Casa Villa Romana is ideal for those who wish to enjoy a beautiful and large beach close to places of the area of great tourist interest as Amalfi, Ravello, Positano, Capri, Sorrento, Pompeii, Paestum, the Reggia (Royal Palace) of Caserta, among other

  • This is a very cute and cozy apartment. Everything inside is decorated with a soul. Located in very well. Near shops, restaurants, to the sea - 5 min. foot. Host is responsive and pleasant person. We were very pleased with the stay.

  • We stayed at two of Alfonso's flats over our three night stay.. Our first night we stayed in his two bedroom (4 person) apartment which was beautiful. The wifi worked great, the views were incredible, and the feel on the house matched the feel of minori itself perfectly.
The second apartment was not the one we originally booked either. (He was fixing a problem at the time). This apartment was located basically on the beach. The walk to dinner, the bus, and just about everywhere in minori was within minutes. However, we did experience problems with the wifi not working during our stay here. Overall a great experience and home for anyone looking to stay in Minori.

  • Alfonso's authentic Italian apartment was amazing! It was clean, in a good location, and had everything we needed. Alfonso, his wife and the lovely girl who checked us in on the first day were very responsive and helpful. Italians in the neighborhood were kind and greeted us whenever we walked by too. Loving Italian hospitality! Overall we loved our stay and hope to be back! Highly recommended!

  • Great little studio for a good price! It was exactly as described. Minori is a nice town, more of a local feel. Nice walks up to Ravello and Atrani/Amalfi. There is a bus stop and local amenities right outside. The flat has everything you need and a cute little view over old ruins.
The lovely girl who met us was so accommodating and also helped us to find free parking up the hill. Check in/out was hassle free and considerate of our needs. If you are bringing a car to Amalfi Coast be prepared to pay pretty much when you drive anywhere (may be cheaper to take the bus if you are going to the beach for the day), but at the same time it gives you flexibility if you want to drive around a lot (at the price of a bit of a hassle trying to discipher Italian parking laws!).
I would recommend this apartment for a base for people who plan to be out and about all day. It is not for 'chilling out' in - you need to pay more if this is what you want, or if you want a balcony. The bed is v. hard for those used to soft mattresses. If you are a light sleeper bring earplugs as scooters on the main road don't stop! None of this bothered us but it's good to be mindful if either of these things will be an issue for you.
We loved this little studio and were pleasantly surprised at how good it was for the price, it felt like an authentic experience and met our needs perfectly :) Thank you!

  • Alfonso's apartment was great. If you are having a long holiday, Minori is a good place to stay. It is close to the bus stop and nice restaurants. But transport can be difficult as no boats reach Minori and buses are unreliable, so for short holidays it is better to stay in Amalfi. Highly recommend.

  • We loved our stay in Alfonso's flat. Great location, right next door to Villa Romana, the apartment is beautiful and clean, everything worked well, well-equipped kitchen. We ran out of gas and Alfonso cam and fixed it right away; couldn't figure out the Internet so we didn't have wifi while there but if you need it there are plenty of cafes nearby that offer it.

Alfonso and his wife are great; we had an issue and lost a personal belonging - Rosaria went to the bus station for us to see if anyone had found it on the bus! We really recommend this place.

  • Alfonso was very friendly and flexible. He accommodated our late, 9pm, check in time, which we really appreciated. The apartment was perfectly clean and quiet. It had all the necessities and some extras, such as an iron, hair dryer, and washer. The apartment had good hot water that lasted. The apartment is in a great location in Minori. It was less than five minutes away from the bus stop, the tabbachi (to get bus tickets), a small supermarket, a bakery, coffee bars, restaurants, and even an electronic store (which sells US to IT electric converters). It was also a short walk to the beach, which looked nice.

Minori itself was a cute, small town that caters more to locals than tourists (which we liked). Everyone seemed to know each other, and it was really interesting seeing a bit of what the local lifestyle was like. Everyone we met was very friendly. For example, the lady at the coffee bar nearby remembered our order from the previous day and took the time to welcome us, despite the large crowd. People were very willing to help us out when we needed information about buses or directions, etc.

Since the town is on the coast, you have to take the SITA buses to get anywhere. You take the bus to get to Salerno to catch trains to Pompeii and Paestum, and the bus to Sorrento to get to Naples (actually a short bus ride to Amalfi to transfer to the bus to Sorrento). The buses come about every hour, and there are more frequent buses in the mornings and evenings on weekdays. The buses are comfortable and clearly labeled. Once you get used to the system it is pretty user friendly, but you have to be careful about minding the bus and train schedules, so that you get to Salerno in time for morning trains (because trains are less frequent after 9-9:30 am).

In short, Minori is a great alternative to other coastal towns, such as Amalfi, where you would also have to take the SITA buses. We liked Minori a lot better than Amalfi. But, if you want more frequent and quicker methods of transportation to areas outside of the Amalfi Coast (ie Pompeii, Naples, and Capri), you should consider staying in a town with a train station, like Sorrento. Personally, we wanted to be on the coast and thought the lower prices for housing and food were good tradeoffs for more convenient transportation. We really enjoyed our stay in Minori and in Alfonso’s apartment. We recommend this apartment to others!
