Interaction with Guests
I do not live on the premises, but between myself and my housekeeper, we will be by every once in a while. Mostly, guests can keep to themselves. If you need recommendations on where to go or what to see, we are always happy to help.
The Fair Heights neighborhood is walking distance to the Fairgrounds and also only minutes from the University of New Mexico campus, hospitals, Nob Hill shopping/eating district. It's also not far from the newly developed ABQ Uptown Shopping corridor/district with even more shopping and eating as well as a new IMAX theatre, and multiple malls. This is the perfect location to get quick and easy access to everything in Albuquerque.
One block away (30sec-1 min walk) is the Number 11 Lomas Bus which will quickly take you to UNM, UNM Hospital, Downtown, the Alvarado transportation center (other buses and the Rail Runner train - which offers affordable rides to Santa Fe and other parts of the Albuquerque area)
Other Things to Note
There are often other rooms available. Ask about accommodations for more people. This would be an ideal location for a family needing to stay near the hospital.
There are several grocery stores (Smith's, Sprouts), restaurants, a Hastings, etc, within a couple minutes walk. This neighborhood has TONS of walkers and you will see a diverse selection of friendly people constantly walking everywhere.
No Smoking inside. No noise after 10pm. Be considerate.
It was simple, comfortable for the night and quiet. I didn't meet Matt but that's okay I was only there for the night.
Good communication from the host. Very quiet home and neighborhood. Nice space overall.
The reservation was canceled the day before arrival. This is an automated posting.
I stayed at the house for 5 weeks while doing a rotation for Podiatry school. It was very convenient, as the New Mexico VA hospital is less than 10 minutes away by car. There is also plenty of off-street parking. The neighborhood seemed safe enough and I never had any issues with noise/other disturbances. Both Sprouts and Smith's are within walking distance for groceries and there are a handful of fast foot restaurants within walking distance as well.
As for the room, there is a twin bed with sheets and one towel provided. There is a desk, bookcase, and dresser in the room. There is also plenty of closet space.
I was there during the same time period as Blair (review below) and, indeed, the water did get turned off for 1 day, which Matt reimbursed me. The common areas of the house weren't always the cleanest, but maybe there is a disconnect between the cleaning lady and Matt's expectations. The silverware, especially spoons, was limited, but it sounds like Matt is in the process of rectifying that issue, as perhaps previous guests have stolen items from the kitchen. Finally, be sure to fill out a temporary change of address form if you need to receive any mail while at the house, as the Postal Service considers it vacant and does not deliver mail to the house unless specifically instructed to do so. I had a relatively important item returned to sender because of this.
I never actually met Matt, but he was nice enough to send me a rather expensive item I forgot at the house, which I truly appreciated. Overall, the room served its purpose and was in a good location.
I didn't actually meet the host, but the room was as expected. I was in late and out early in the morning. However, the house seemed eerily bare, as if no one lived there.

About the Host, Matt
I'm young and energetic. I've lived in Albuquerque for nearly 15 years, and I have a pretty good grasp on the culture, sites, restaurants, and things to do. I am reguarly spotted eating out or around the community. I enjoy singing, rock climbing, meeting people, traveling (both around the US and abroad), business/entrepreneurship, chilling around a campfire, grabbing drinks, learning about new things and people.
