Great place in Catete (which I found to be an excellent area, with lots of history).
Maria Eloisa and her husband and son were all very hospitable and accommodating. The room was great--comfortable, quiet--and there is even a terrace where I could use my laptop in the afternoons and recover from the sweltering heat of Rio.
The excellent breakfast meant that I could get started in the morning with one less thing to take care of.
I highly recommend staying here.
The location is very good as the Catete tram station is in one-block distance. The room and the whole living environment is clean, nice and comfortable, with good privacy. Ms. Maria and her family is very nice and glad to help me for useful information.
Recommend this absolutely.
Great place to stay in Rio. Eloisa is lovely and her breakfasts are a real feast. Good location, safe neighbourhood. Definitely recommend to solo travellers.
Great host and a great apartment! The home is close to everything and just a short walk from the Catete metro station to visit the beaches. It's an easy walk to Lapa's famous nightlife and is also on a major set of bus lines which make it easy to get all over Rio. The apartment itself is clean and tidy. Maria Eloisa is a friendly host who is quick to provide tips and recommendations for what to see and how to get around. She even was kind enough to print off my flight boarding passes and Corcovado train ticket. Also important: the room has a nice cold air conditioner for those hot Rio nights.
This was a very convenient place to stay, and the hosts were most gracious. A delicious breakfast was provided each morning. The location is superb, with easy access to both downtown Rio and the Zona Sul beaches. The metro station is just around the corner, and there are plenty of places to eat and shop.
Eloisa is extremely hospitable and kind and it was a pleasure to board with her and her family for a couple weeks when working in downtown Rio. The breakfasts she prepares are abundant and yummy. They started each of my days on the best note possible.
The small room with two single beds is light and colorful and in its own corner of the apartment so there is a sense of privacy. A spacious closet is available in the room. The small bathroom is down the hall.
The location in Catete is a non touristy area but full of genuine Carioca spirit in walkable distance to the business/historic center and to the Lapa center of nightlife (great) is wonderful. It is well served by transportation (one block from Catete Metro station ) and many bus lines to Center and to Zona Sul.
I highly recommend Eloisa's airbnb!
It was such a pleasure to be able to experience the stay at Maria's home. She contacted us within 24 hours and kept in touch while we were travelling from Argentina to Brazil. Her place was clean, comfortable, and in the perfect location for us. She spoke great English and helped us with all of the locations that we wanted to see. This was our first time using this website and Maria welcomed us with open arms. It felt like home and after backpacking for a month and a half, this was the perfect ending to our trip. P.S. Her breakfast was fantastic!! Thanks for everything Maria!
It was great stay in Maria Eloisa´s place! She was very kind and helpful all the time, and the breakfast was delicious. Also, her place is very well localized with a metro station very close. It is a good idea go to Rio and stay in her place.
Maria Eloisa, Thanks for all! I really enjoyed stay there.
I couldn't have been more happy and comfortable than I was at Eloisa's place. She welcomed me warmly and from then on she struck the perfect balance between being friendly and helpful and leaving me to do my thing.
She asked me what I liked for breakfast and then headed out to get it, and made me a nice meal every morning, whenever I woke up.
The room is simple but has all you need, including air con, and there's a small bathroom reserved just for you. I really liked the area, on a shady street off the busy Rua do Catete, very handy for getting around Rio from there. Top marks and definitely recommended.
The host family made me feel so much at home in their cosy appartment. The room is quite private and a private bathroom was at my disposal. Delicious breakfast on demand. Generous help with various matters such as understanding Brasil and the brazilians, finding the best jazzclub in Rio (and booking a table) and a lot more.
In addition to this, the location is perfect for urban tourism: A good neighbourhood next to Lapa and with 200 m to the Catete metro station connecting you to the beaches, museums, shopping areas etc of Rio. In any respect, I only have positive things to say about it.
This is the final rate, including any fees from the host and Airbnb.
