A two bedroom apartment in the middle of Barcelona by the amazing Palau de la Música. A smart accommodation by one of the city’s most unique landmarks.
This is a stylish apartment has a fresh atmosphere. It flaunts a clever, modern interior design with bright colours elegantly contrasting the rustic Catalan style of brick-walls and large wooden beams in the ceiling. This lively place has two balconies, plenty of natural light and modern conveniences like: Internet (USB Modem stick), LCD TV and DVD etc. There is one master bedroom with a double bed, and one bedroom with a bunk bed. The bathroom is equipped with all contemporary designed amenities. A well-equipped American kitchen comes in handy after culinary expeditions to the near-by Santa Caterina market. The apartment located on the 3rd floor, is perfect for families, and for larger groups as there is the possibility of accommodating guests in other apartments very close by.
The location is quite ideal for exploring Barcelona on foot: Las Ramblas, the Picasso Museum, The Barcelona Cathedral, “the Cathedral of the Sea” - Santa Maria del Mar - are all within strolling distance. Barcelona’s great symbol, Gaudí’s La Sagrada Familia is not far away as well as the before-mentioned Palau de la Musica. Penned by architect Domenench y Muntaner it is possible the most splendid “non-Gaudí” building of the modernisme era. This is also a very well communicated spot close by the train, the metro, buses and taxi-stops.
We loved staying at Luis' place. It was spacious, well decorated, and in the best location!
Our check in was easy with two friends of Louis'. The place was spotless, the water pressure was great, and the surrounding restaurants and bodegas were perfect. There were plenty of maps and guidebooks, a reliable internet connection, a hairdryer, huge closets and beautiful balconies. It is a 3rd floor walk up but we didn't find it a problem. We walked everywhere. It was even easy to catch a cab to the airport.
Great price, great place. You won't be disappointed.
I stayed at this apartment for a month, and had a great time. Some thoughts that might be helpful:
- Luis, the host, was incredibly friendly, helpful and responsive. He was reachable at all times and that made my stay much more enjoyable.
- The apt looks as shown in the photos. I had no issues with cleanliness and importantly for me, water pressure in the shower was good!
- As others have commented, the apt is up a few flight is stairs. It's quite narrow but safe. After a full day of walking around, these stairs don't seem like much of an obstacle! However I agree with earlier comment that if you have massive luggage a, could be a challenge.
- Safety-wise, I never had an issue. Plenty of tourists and locals around so no problem.
- Tourist areas are close and Metro is very close by too.
- Right downstairs is a lunchtime restaurant heavily frequented by locals, so if you are at a loss for where to eat and want to have a more local experience, give it a try!
Luis was amazing! Such a friendly and accommodating guy. We booked the apartment the same day we checked in and Luis made it all happen so smoothly. The apartment was wonderful. Some of the best tapa restaurants we ate in Barcelona we're just around the corner. Tons of cool little shops right around the corner as well. Grocery stores, the metro, and the beach we're all very close by as well. For the first two nights we stayed on La Ramblas but loved Luis's apartment WAY better. It was so close to the metro that all the touristy stuff was easily accessible. Luis also emails back with any recommendations and questions very quickly. The apartment was beautiful and clean with a fully equipped kitchen. Two lovely balconies, one right off the master bedroom. We will definitely stay at Luis's apartment again and will most definitely recommend it to anyone traveling to Barcelona!
The apartment has some great qualities, but overall we were disappointed with our stay. The location is fantastic. The apartment is within walking distance from Las Ramblas, Le Borne, Barceloneta, and many other great areas/museums.
We were met by a woman Luis sent who handed us the keys to the apartment and left. No explanation was given as to which keys go to what door, where to dump trash, etc. A neighbor in the building was super helpful and gave us some information. The floors were filthy. I'm not a clean-freak, but the floors were so noticeably dirty with hair and dust that none of us dared to walk barefoot. Apartment is also up 4 very steep and very cramped stairs (difficult to move luggage up and down) - this should be mentioned in the description.
The owner also charges a lot extra for each additional person. I understand charging maybe a few euro, but the charges requested here are excessive. We had 1 extra person in the apartment for 2 of our 5 nights so I was honest and mentioned it to Luis and he still insisted on charging an extra 30 euro (despite the fact that there was a mix up and only 2 towels were provided) - he could have made an effort and let the fee slide given the situation with the towels and the dirty state of the apartment.
I've really lucked out in the past with fantastic AirBnB stays, so I think that also impacted my opinion of this apartment. Not even a roll of toilet paper was given. The apartment has potential to be great, but as it stands now, I wouldn't go back.
The reservation was canceled 10 days before arrival. This is an automated posting.
Perfect description of apartment. Location was also perfect, located right at the heart of Barcelona and walking distance to most touristic sites! Had a wonderful time, thank you!
Communication was very prompt and professional. Apartment was clean and spacious. No lift though and access from a very small staircase. Should have been mentioned in the description.
very nice neighborhood with plenty of things to do and nice bars and restaurants.
Overall a very positive experience
