Light and bright modern space, with 2 bedrooms, separate entrance, and full kitchen; free parking; minutes from public transportation. Clean, comfortable beds. Sleeps 2-5 guests. SF License # STR(phone number hidden)
Enjoy San Francisco sunshine as you dine (yes, we have SUNSHINE year around in our part of the city!).
This space is on the ground floor of our 3-story home, and set back from the street, so it is insulated from street noise, and stays cool in the hotter months. Remodeled in 2004, the unit has travertine marble floors, fresh paint, a full kitchen with newer fridge/freezer and oven/range, a new bathroom, an outdoor deck with a view of the garden, and halogen lighting. Guests enter along a pass-through at the side of the house, which is lighted after dark.
The entire space can accommodate up to 5 people. Each bedroom has a very comfortable double/full bed. The daybed in the living room can be used as a twin bed if you ask us for sheets.
There is a one-time housekeeping fee of $50.
If you'd like to stay longer than 30 days, we request a security deposit of $870, which will be returned, depending on the condition of the flat upon your leaving.
We provide guests with a password for our WiFi network, our garden, and our time, if we're available, to show off our best city sights!
We like to meet our guests and are happy to answer questions about the unit, the neighborhood, parking, public transport. We have put together a custom guide book with recommendations for restaurants, cafes, shops, and museums, and how to reach them. We're eager to make sure you're comfortable and settled in; depending on our schedules, we sometimes invite guests up to share a glass of wine or hors d'oeuvres. Guests may encounter our two small dogs (12 lbs. each) in the back yard, and might hear the dogs moving around our kitchen, which is directly above the guest unit's kitchen.

Interaction with Guests
We love to share a coffee or tea with our guests when we can. It's lovely meeting people from around the world on their first adventure in San Francisco!
In our neighborhood you'll experience the real San Francisco--an eclectic mix of Asians, African Americans, Latin Americans, Mexicans, Europeans, Whites, Mexicans and Samoans. This raw cultural diversity is one of the reasons we love our City. Our neighborhood is industrial and urban with professionals rubbing shoulders with working class folks. It's a mix of warehouses, older housing, and some hip restaurants, breweries and cafes (All Good Pizza, RadioAfrica Cafe, Speakeasy, Trouble Coffee, Flora Grubb. VeloBrews). We've lived here for almost 10 years in peace and harmony with our neighbors, most of whom have been here for generations. There are 35,000 people here and 12,000 families. We have the largest population of kids under 18.
In recent years our neighborhood has become desirable as home prices remain relatively affordable by S.F. standards, new housing is developed at the shipyard site and elsewhere, and light rail has connected ours to other fast-rising neighborhoods nearby like Dogpatch, Mission Bay and Potrero Hill. New businesses, restaurants, cafes, and arts facilities (like glass blowing) are springing up all over our area.
A light rail stop is 2 blocks away; the train is the easiest way to get around the City without the hassle of parking ($2.50 per trip). There is also a bus stop at the corner. If you have a car, parking is on-street and free, and we're close to major freeways if you plan to visit Marin, the wine country, or Silicon Valley.
Other Things to Note
In the 19th century, Bayview was known for its tanneries and slaughterhouses. Residents included French, Irish, Italian and Maltese immigrants. World War II brought an influx of residents, many of them African Americans from the south, who came to work at the Hunters Point Naval Shipyard. The shipyard closed in the 1970s, and the neighborhood has been in transition since then.
We are considerate of our guests' needs for privacy and quiet, and expect our guests to be considerate of ours. We are happy to provide information and assistance, but we work at home, and may not always be available to guests during working hours. If we are available, however, we'll let you know and accompany you around the neighborhood, if you wish. Our bedroom and offices are on the 3rd floor, which means our guests are unlikely to hear us as we move through our day, and we're unlikely to hear you.
We'd love to be able to include pets, but we have 2 small dogs of our own who might be very jealous! Our neighbors have dogs, too, so don't be alarmed by a little woofing now and then.
We don't allow smoking both for health and safety reasons.
This was the best Airbnb stays we have had! Alka's house is very very cozy and clean. She gave us a warm welcome and lots of suggestions for visiting SF. When I had problems of connecting to her pc monitor, she offer us a new Mac display, what a surprise. Feel like home, everything was perfect. I would eventually like to come back here.
Alka and Brad made us feel very welcomed. The listing was just as it was advertised. It was bright and clean and met our needs, felt like a home away from home. We were made aware of the neighborhood by Alka's Airbnb write up, here's a part of it; "Our neighborhood is urban, which means you should be smart about your surroundings. Don’t leave anything valuable in your car, even if it’s an empty shopping bag (that goes for all of San Francisco) or a nice jacket. Only walk around at night if you’re on a well-lit, busy street like Valencia or Hayes or Chestnut or the Embarcadero, etc. Otherwise, take your car or hire a less expensive taxi service like Uber or Lyft."
The next time we visit our son in San Francisco we will again try to book with Alka via Airbnb and hope it is available.

We were happy with our stay, the place was clean and well equipped for cooking and most importantly coffee was available with a French press. We didn't have the pleasure of meeting our hosts.
Alka est une super hôtesse!
Très gentille et serviable.
Le logement était impeccable et bien comme décrit.
Tous les documents nécessaires à un bon séjour étaient fournis.
We had the pleasure of staying at this terrific apartment, however the real highlight of our stay was the lovely and effervescent Alka. She was a real treasure. This is an upcoming area, however the location is good and very close to the city. Make sure you register for Uber before getting there. It makes navigating San Francisco very easy, safe and comfortable.
A really excellent stay in San Francisco. The landlords are both very warm hearted. And the house is warm and sweet, and very convenient to city center, we felt very comfortable there. If I have a second time in SF, I would definitely stay there again. Thanks Alka and Brad.
We had a very nice stay and Alka & Brad are so friendly!

We're happiest at home in San Francisco, which we share with two loving pups (Coco and Ubu). We've lived abroad in Italy, France, Haiti and India. We speak several languages and love meeting others whose adventures have taken them far and wide. The tastes of different cultures speak to us as does the unspoken bond all global travelers feel when they discover common ground around the world. We love our neighborhoods and stay involved in our community so we're current on where to sip a great latte, get a bite to eat, shop for wine or shoes, create art, rent bikes, and learn a little bit of local history.
