The Boat House was only recently built, but lovingly conceived over 20 years by a former Chairman of the Crafts Council of Ireland and his equally brilliant wife (Hi Mum ;-)) Situated right on the River Nore and arranged over 3 floors, the house oozes contemporary style whilst offering comfort and unparalleled views up and down the river.
The floor to ceiling sliding doors open onto an elevated deck shaped like the bow of a ship after which the house was named.
We have four generous double rooms
(some available with twin beds) The Boat House is available on a B&B basis, or as an entire house (with an extra bedroom) at extremely attractive rates.
All areas - a Home from Home.
Interaction with Guests
We'll do everything we can to make it the highlight of your holiday.
The term 'home from home' is thrown around quite a lot but that is precisely what we aim to offer. Are you looking for a place where you immediately feel at home, can kick off your shoes and grab a beer from the fridge? Come visit us, and hopefully you'll laugh at whatever inappropriate joke I've made :-)
In a previous life I owned a B&B in the French Alpine town of Chamonix that I successfully brought to No1 on Tripadvisor, and I aim to offer a similarly special and unique experience to our guests in The Boat House...
The Boat House is situated on the River Nore in the Coillte Woodstock Estate of
about 1000 acres, adjoining the Woodstock Gardens and Arboretum
(website hidden) of about 50 acres with over four miles of walks - all
The River Nore is well known for its salmon and trout fishing, this property has
tidal fishing available. Mount Juliet Hotel with its wonderful grounds and
championship golf course is within a twenty minute drive as is Gowran Park race
course and Golf Club.
The charming and picturesque village of Inistioge with its tree-lined square and
pretty churches has been the setting for a number of feature films and is a
popular tourist destination. Its facilities include a post office, shop, primary
school and four restaurants/cafes and three traditional pubs.
You'll need your own private transport or just ask us to arrange it for you. If you're in a camper/RV, all but the largest will make it down the forest road without any problems!
Rob is such a lovely chap! Nothing was too much trouble and he was good with advice for things around the area! The house is amazing and so modern and up to date. Our bath even had lights and bubbles :)
The location is incredible and definitely will be back.
Rob is a superb host, very willing to talk with his guests. The house is totally new, modern and on a very beautiful location. The breakfast was great, a real Irish one, and you can use the kitchen to preprare your dinner. You might have some problems finding the house, but otherwise is a great choice.
the place was really incredible, amazing , a little irish paradise!!we loved the house and we was also very confortable in his surroundings. At first, Rob was all the time very courteous, we feel like home. The breakfast was really good, well made.
We liked everything! The boathouse is a superb house with a view on a river. It is lost in the middle of the forest with beautiful walks everywhere. The house is fully incorporated within nature, but the cute Inistioge village can be reached by a nice 20' walk into the forest. The host Rob is a funny and interesting guy, who welcomes you in a very friendly atmosphere. For those who like quiet and beautiful places, this is truly an extraordinary and unique place. Together with my girlfriend, we loved this place and probably will come back (from France)!

About the Host, Rob
Mischievous, Adventurous, Ambitious and often Ludicrous ;-) I built a B&B business in France and got to No1 on tripadvisor in our category (Specialty Accommodation), and whether or not I can get to No 1 in Ireland I don't know but I'm sure as heck going to try! Please come visit - you'll love the place, if not necessarily the owner ;-) and I'll do what I can to make it special for you!
Things I like: Coffee Wine and Beer, Sunshine, Chilli Peppers, Happy Guests, Cycling, Cars, Taking the Mickey.
Things I don't like: Hangovers (They don't mix with a B&B!), can't think of anything else for the moment :-)
