By far the best accommodation we had in Thailand in 2 months being there...
On beach nice peaceful just perfect...
If you search for peace of paradise on Ko Samui you can get it here and it is not expensive at all....
We had a fantastic little bungalow (no. 3), which is on the beach, so you can sit on your terrace and watch the waves! There are 6 bungalow in total, no's 1,2 & 3 are on the beach, the others are just behind them. Ours was one of the smallest and perfect for our needs.
Shahin and his partner Catherine speak fantastic English and were very helpful throughout our stay. They run a bar/restaurant next to the bungalows so you have easy access to breakfast, etc... as well as karaoke nights and a pool table.
The main road can be quite busy but the beach is quiet and lovely and the neighbouring expats are also very welcoming.
Awesome little house right at the beach. It has everything you need plus a super comfortable bed. It is a very familiar and friendly atmosphere especially shahin was there to answer all our questions. We rent a scooter next door which is perfect to see the island. We will come back sooner or later!! :)
This place is awesome! I only intended to spend one night and ended up staying 5 more....I am also thinking of returning in a few weeks.....That in itself says something.
Andre is awesome...he really wants his guests to have a good time and enjoy their stay...he will go to whatever lengths to ensure that all goes well. The bungalow is situated beachfront...good for nice swims....it is comfortable...has a great little restaurant/bar where you can meet up with other travelers or enjoy time reading, writing, drinking coffee...etc....
Shahin is also very helpful and will make you feel comfortable.
Our week in the beachfront bungalow was great. Sean and Andre did everything possible to make our stay enjoyable whether it was arranging tours, providing services, providing information, etc. They have done a lot to improve the facilities. The bungalows are small but serviceable. The only negative was the hard mattress ... but that is pretty much what you find every where in Thailand.
True be told I felt like I was with family, that is the way the behave with me since the moment I arrive. Will consider them friends for ever.
Nice place right on the beach! Friendly personnel! Recommend it!
What a wonderful place! It is on the beach with a beautiful view and a beach to yourself. Comfy chairs to sit on at the beach and fantastic people! My kids can't keep talking about it. Hot water, cold air and simple accomodations- but it's exactly what we needed. There is a bar next store with good food and while it did get loud on occasion we just joined the fun. I didn't get to meet David, but Janet was lovely and even took us to dinner one night. Leonora was on vacation but I hear she is fantastic and I'm sorry we didn't get to meet her. George ran teh bar and the bungalows while she was gone and what a great guy. I can't wait to go back!
I had a lovely stay at Footprints for 1 month in June. Leonora, the owner is always available to help out in any way, as are Khun Pupay and George (who is the new chef). Jip (the cook next door) and her friend Lek are wonderful also. A lovely vibe here - it really is paradise. The convivial, respectful, friendly atmosphere makes for a very special experience. The bungalows are all one could ask for, for the price. At about $12 US a night I had air con, free wifi (great connection), a double bed (with a sitting ledge on the side), a shower with hot water, and a balcony overlooking the tranquil waters of the Gulf of Thailand.
If you are OK with simple accommodation, then this is the place for you. If you are looking for a more resort-type experience then there are plenty of options for that in Koh Samui also... Tip: You can get to a great swimming beach, near Maenam resort, for 20 Baht via bus-taxi. Unfortunately the beach in Bang Por isn't really a swimming beach... If it was, then these bungalows would be 2 x the price, at least ;)
We booked 2 nights at this place but first of all, we didn't get the bungalow no. 1 that we reserved, they put us in no. 3 instead. There was a big pile of dog poo right in front of our room! haha i was quite shock I have to say..
About the room: The door couldn't close properly so there were all kind of ants and insects crawling inside our room. There were ants all over the floor and the wall next to the bed, I was scared to I told the lady who worked there to put us in a different bungalow but it was full. I ended up spraying my room all evening and using all my towels to block the space between the door that couldn't be closed.
The toilet smells terrible and looks like hasn't been clean for years.. I'm sorry but we are not a difficult people at all, we have been staying in many hostel or camp site but nothing could compared to this place. We couldn't sleep all night because of the smell of the toilet coming out AND the ants that crawl on our faces!
The beach itself was so so, not that clean. The location was very far out from all kind of activities.
The only positive thing about this place was Khun Peng, she was doing her best to help us and make us feel ok about the issues. We spent most of our time at the restaurant. They have good food.
I would spend more money and stay at a better place.
