The Space

Off-season, only 2 night stay minimum. Send an inquiry if you need only 2 nights November through March.

The Retro Retreat is a fabulous little house built in 1951 and recently updated for comfort and convenience with central heat and A/C. It is centrally located in a very quiet neighborhood just north of the town of Sonoma, with easy access to highway 12. We have an updated kitchen with new cabinets, appliances and granite counter tops.

The main living room, kitchen and dining area is open, providing an extra large space for entertaining and relaxing with family and friends. A great space for celebrating holidays, birthdays, anniversaries, or just long weekends! One entire wall of the living room, dinning and kitchen area is glass, looking out on a covered patio and large back yard. The floor plan is ideal for two couples or a family. Two bedrooms, a full and half bath are in one wing of the house, another bedroom and full bath are in the other. The living room, dining area and kitchen are in the center of the house, providing complete privacy between the two wings.

The Retro Retreat is just minutes from the Sonoma Plaza (2.4 miles) for shopping and dining experiences, and within walking distance of the world famous Sonoma Mission Inn & Spa. In just a few minutes, heading North on highway 12, you will visit dozens of the best wineries California has to offer.

If you want to stay in after a day of wine tasting, dinner is a snap with provisions from Whole Foods or Sonoma Market. In addition to the new kitchen, there is a BBQ, dining table, chairs and lounge seating on the covered patio. Plus, staying at the Retro Retreat is a great way to save your $$, so you can splurge all that much more on Sonoma’s fine wines and dinning.

Amenities also include DVD player and gas grill. 3 Queen Beds, plus a twin sized tri-fold foam matress that folds out onto the floor, suitable for a child or adolescent.

Full kitchen, including refrigerator, range, dishwasher, coffee maker, and microwave; and all the kitchen utensils.

Gas BBQ grill out on the back patio.

Near regional and state parks, great for hikers.

Day spas and golf course near by.

9% SONOMA COUNTY OCCUPANCY TAX IS ALREADY INCLUDED IN THE RENTAL RATE.

  • What a wonderful 'home away from home'!!! We spent a long girls weekend at the Retro Retreat in celebration of my 30th birthday. I only wish we could have spent more time at the house! Every amenty I could think of was provided and the rooms and furnishings were some comfortable and welcoming. Beautifully decorated as well! I especially loved the two for one coupons and tasting passes that previous renters had left. VJB winery was a fun unexpected stop and I probably would have never considered it without the tasting passes but it ended up being one of my favorite tastings! After experiencing both Sonoma and Napa I would tell future visitors to skip Napa (aside from Orin Swift in St. Helena - AMAZING!) and just stick to Sonoma. Lovely people, fabulous wines and so laid back. I can't wait to return! Thank you so much Josette for the lovely accomodations! I absolutely will return someday!

  • Wonderful house! Our stay could not have been better. Josette had a binder full of information about the property and area along with all the things we needed ready. The interior is outfitted with beautiful art and trendy furniture, along with all the kitchen stuff we needed. And the patio was awesome! It's huge. There are something like six tables on the property, so it's easy to spend time with the people you're with. It's clean and well located to boot. We used it to see Sonoma, Napa, and San Francisco. Awesome trip thanks to this great house!

  • Great location in Sonoma. The house is huge- 3 bedrooms and 2.5 baths. Makes for a really great accommodations. The windows all into the backyard are great. Also, she has things like olive oil, spices, tea, brita filter- everything you need to feel like you are at home. She also left a bottle of wine for us to enjoy! Thank you Josette for a lovely stay! ;-)

  • We all loved our stay at the Retro Retreat. There were 6 of us, 3 couples, attending a wedding in Sonoma. The 3 bedrooms, 2 1/2 baths, open living-dining area, and large patio were very clean, comfortable and plenty spacious for 6 adults. The house is in a very convenient location to the main Sonoma square, and also for driving up through wine country.

  • This place was a perfect place to stay if you want to explore wine country. The house had a well-equiped kitchen and the entire house was very clean and pleasant. Great outdoor patio area and the neighborhood was very quiet. I would recommend it!

  • My family and I had a wonderful stay at the "Retro Retreat". The whole place was tastefully furnished and very comfortable. The kitchen was fully stocked with anything you needed to make a meal, with a nice BBQ in the yard. There was plenty of space for the four of us, but it have been just as good with 6 people. The backyard space is awesome, great for relaxing after a day of wine tasting. The location was also really good for our wine-tasting centered trip. It was just a short drive to downtown Sonoma, about 30 mins to downtown Napa and very accessible to the wineries throughout the region. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and are eager to return soon to visit the many wineries we didn't get to see! Although, we never got to meet the hosts, they were extremely prompt in replying to emails and inquires and graciously mailed us the laptop charger we had left behind. Thank you very much Josette and Dave.

  • The retro retreat was perfect for our needs during a weekend visit to Sonoma for a wedding. We were a party of 6 and had all of our expectations exceeded when we walked in. The house was comfortable, beautiful, fully stocked, practical, and centrally located. We were in want of nothing during our stay. Thanks Josette and Dave!

  • We loved the Retro Retreat! We arrived in Sonoma, weary from all day travel w two young kiddos. We walked into the house and immediately knew we made a great choice. The indoor space was clean and bright, w everything we needed to make our stay comfortable. We fell in love w the outdoor patio; drinking coffee in the morn and cocktails in the eve while the kiddos enjoyed the fountain and croquet. The bedrooms were roomy, bathrooms immaculate, towels soft and new. Josette provided spot-on directions from SFO and even left a bottle of wine and Peets coffee for us to enjoy. The location was in a quiet neighborhood just 2 miles off the square, but a short walk to a wonderful fruit stand and donut shop along hwy 12. If we ever make it back to Sonoma, we will book our nights w Josette and Dave. Our only regret is that we didn't get a chance to meet them and say thanks in person. Next time, for sure!

About
Josette and Dave have been married for 20 years. We live in Sonoma, with our 3 cats. We have been here 10 years, after living for more than 10 years in San Francisco. We love living in the Sonoma wine country, with the great weather, fine food and fine wine. When we travel, we would rather stay in vacation rentals (house or apartment) than in a hotel room.
