The space
Welcome to our cosy one-bedroom lower-ground flat with its own private entrance, accessed by a short flight of external stairs. The flat sits at the bottom of a beautiful Victorian home and has been thoughtfully put together to create a relaxed and welcoming seaside base.

The living space is open-plan, combining lounge, dining and kitchen. It’s comfortable and practical rather than large or minimalist, with everything you need for an easy stay. The kitchen includes butcher block counters, a washing machine, fridge, double hob, oven, kettle, toaster and a full set of utensils, pots and pans. You’ll also find books, games, WiFi and a small TV.

There’s a wood burner in the living area which makes the space especially cosy in colder months. We provide enough logs for one fire, and additional wood can be purchased on request.

The bedroom features a king-size Nectar mattress (medium-firm) purchased recently and chosen for comfort, though mattress firmness is always a personal preference. There are bedside tables, lamps and a small desk or dressing table.

The bathroom retains its Victorian character with a refinished claw-foot bath and separate shower with overhead rain head and handset. As this is a basement bathroom in an older property, the toilet operates via a macerator system.

As with many period homes, some everyday living sounds from the property above can be heard at times. We try to communicate this clearly so guests can decide whether the setting is right for them. This space is best suited to those who appreciate character homes and a relaxed, lived-in feel rather than hotel-style accommodation.

We’re proud to offer a comfortable coastal base just moments from the beach and hope you’ll enjoy it as much as many of our previous guests have.

Neighborhood highlights

The basement flat is located in Westgate-on-sea, Kent, next to Margate.
Westgate-on-sea/ Margate is wonderfully walkable, and our basement flat puts you in the perfect spot to enjoy all the town has to offer. A 3 min walk North is St. Mildreds Bay Beach, a beautiful beach for walking, taking kids to swim or enjoying a hot chocolate or an ice cream at one of the local cafes (Millie's, West Bay Cafe or St. Mildreds Bay Bistro) on the seafront. 3 min walk southwest is Westgate-on-sea High Street, the town's main shopping & dining area. You'll find excellent wood-fired pizza at Hot Woods, a historic cinema, and The Carlton, where new releases are only £3.50. Close to the station is a Co-op for grabbing staples, and the cocktails at Ginger's are generous and delicious. There's an excellent Indian restaurant and a cute fruit and veg shop if you want to cook dinner at the flat. The Westgate high street is vibrant, and new places are constantly opening while maintaining that old village feel we all love.

Parking is free and always available on the street outside the flat.

In Margate Old Town, you'll find many magnificent local bars and restaurants, a modern art Gallery, The Turner, and excellent vintage clothing and antique shops.

Fun fact: I used to sing in a pop band!
Lives in Westgate-on-Sea, United Kingdom
I am an American living in Westgate-On-Sea, Kent, with my two gorgeous daughters our two sweet Caveliers. I own a shop in Margate Old Town called Scissortail Home . I love creativity, interior design, dancing and am passionate about yoga and personal growth. I've travelled since I was 18 and have stayed in beautiful posh hotels to rundown hostels. Very excited to use this site and what it has to offer. x
