The Space

Have you ALWAYS imagined living in NYC? For the duration of your stay, experience first hand, living like a local in the heart of the Upper East Side. One of Manhattan's most affluent, sophisticated, and prestigious neighborhoods. Walk to Museum Mile, Central Park, Hunter College, and other nearby NYC institutions. An area to stroll for fascinating architecture, celebrity spotting, & colorful window and patio gardens. A "hidden gem" in the city that doesn't sleep. It just doesn't get better than this!

1. The nightly rate changes during different times of the year and may differ from the "starting at" price you see posted on our homepage. Please click on the calendar to view pricing for your specific dates.

2. The term "Pre-war" refers to a NYC apartment building that was built after WW II. Arcitectual details include high ceilings, hardwood floors, crown moldings, and other old world charms that one usually finds with this era of construction. Pre-war buildings tend to be of sturdy construction offering thick firewalls between apartments and therefore can be quieter than the dry walled apartments found in modern buildings.

Enjoy the hospitality and service you'd expect from an upscale hotel, packaged in an enriching NYC experience. Book our ENTIRE 1-bedroom apartment, located in an authentic, traditional, pre-war, walk-up building. Positioned on the first floor (only 1 flight of stairs!) facing a courtyard. Outstanding space design creatively maximizes smaller square footage providing endless efficiency without feeling crowded. Both kitchen and bathroom have been updated to modern standards with respect for original architectural detail. The creative dwelling feels like a cozy, lived-in ART GALLERY, where everything reveals a story. You'll enjoy the high walls filled with original works of art by local East Village artists, and an extensive book collection of fine-art and architecture books.

Comfortable furniture, an efficient, fully equipped kitchen, microwave, TV with Netflix streamed through our Blu Ray DVD player and free Wifi. A double-size bed in the private bedroom accommodates two. The American Leather sofa in the livingroom folds out (Queen) to COMFORTABLY accomodate 2 more.

  • Great apartment! This gem had everything you could ask for - a great, quiet location, comfortable bed, plenty of space (NYC standards) and all the details of hosts that truly care - a fresh pound of coffee, guidebooks, recommendations for the neighbourhood, comfy bed, etc. Most importantly, the communication with the hosts was fantastic. Thank you Kimberly and Michael!

  • My wife and I stayed in La Boheme for eight nights and had a wonderful time there. Communication with Michael and Kimberly was fast and smooth from the very beginning. They kept in touch with us long before our travel date and even gave us may tips for newcomers like getting from the airport to their place.

Their personal assistant Juan Andres is a great guy who also happens to speak several languages which was an unexpected bonus. He was extremely nice and helpful, teaching us everything we needed to know about the apartment. He even helped us with our baggage, not only at arrival but also at departure (and they were pretty heavy by then).

The apartment itself is exactly as in the pictures/description. Cozy and plenty of space for our baggage and us. The fact it only has one row of stairs to climb will be very helpful for those of you who carry heavy bags.
Many commodities I would usually expect in a hotel but not in a rental private house, like body soap, shampoo and several other personal care items. Their kitchen has everything you need to store any groceries you might get and also has everything you might need should you wish to prepare a light breakfast or cook if you feel like to.
I have visited New York in the past on an group trip, and staying in a hotel in a touristic location cannot compare to living in an authentic neighbourhood and feeling like a New Yorker yourself (at least for a couple of days).
The Neighbourhood has many restaurants, cafes, stores and bakeries nearby (we totally recommend Two Little Red Hens, just a couple of blocks away) and transportation to other Manhattan areas was quite easy since subway is just a couple of blocks away and buses can be taken almost right in front of the apartment's door.
In fact, the MET is just 10 minutes away.
In brief, all you need to get the most from your stay and not having to worry about things like where you're gonna eat if you get home tired from walking all day.

  • Had a wonderful stay at La Boheme. The apartment could not be in a better location! Close to tourist attractions and restaurants/bars yet far enough away from all the hustle and bustle. The hosts were incredibly accommodating and I highly recommend staying here for your next trip to NYC!!

  • We had a wonderfull stay at La Boheme, we stayed there for six nights and everything was ok!
This was our first Airbnb-experience so we had to figure out how everything worked etc..

Communication was clear and fast. Michael and Kimberly's assistant Juan Andres was at the
appartment at the time we arranged and showed us the appartment and explained everything we
needed to know. The appartment was just like in the pictures and clean and cozy. Very nice to have
your own place in the City that never sleeps.

Unluckily we locked ourselves out at the first evening but 1 phonecall to Juan Andres and he was there to
save our vacation. Lucky to have such a nice guy around.

From the appartment it was just a little walk to the subway, so it was easy to explore the rest of the city.
Wnen you are interested in the museums like Metropolitan and Guggenheim this is a perfect spot to spend your time. The neighborhood is crowded but more relaxed than midtown.

There are a lot of pubs, restaurants, icecream-shops accross the street, and a good supermarket is available on your way to the subway. We started our day in the Bagel-shop accross the street, the bagels with creamcheese, walnuts and raisins were delicious!!

We would like to thank Michael, Kimberly and Juan Andres for their hospitality and we can recommend
La Boheme to everyone. What a nice place to stay in New York City.

I can recomend this place 100%. And Thanks Michael and Kimberly for letting us discover this fantastic gem that is your apartment :)

  • We found the apartment a great area to stay, easy walking to Central Park and great eating places nearby. Everything we needed in a great position.

  • La Boheme is a funky apartment that is within walking distance of three major art galleries, a bonus for those who will spend the majority of their time in those venues. It's other advantage is that a bus stop to downtown is located across the street and the subway is within walking distance. Very easy access to many of NY city's attractions, especially Central Park

The apartment has been nicely updated and is full of the owner's touch. It's perfect for eating breakfast in and eating out for lunch and dinner. There are excellent restaurants on the same block and close by.

The air conditioning during hot days was welcome, although a bit noisy and we were provided with only one set of towels for an eight night stay. Be aware that if you are arriving later than 3:00 pm, you may be paying an additional fee.

We very much enjoyed the ease of access to New York and our time in this incredibly wonderful, complex, and busy city.

  • Apartment is nice, and in a good part of New York. It's close to Central Park, the Met and a good subway line. It was a little loud at night, but that's more to do with the age of the building than the apartment itself. Kimberly and Michael were very helpful and responsive. Overall we enjoyed our stay.

    A bientôt,

    Coralie et Guillaume

  • I stayed six nights at "La Boheme" and can recommend it without reservation. Its a lovely apartment, perfectly clean, and with everything anyone could need for an enjoyable and very comfortable stay (great bed). I was in New York for work, and the location was very convenient for me, but it would certainly be a good neighborhood for a vacation stay as well. Kimberly and her assistant, Juan Andres, were very easy to communicate with, and all the arrangements went smoothly.

A native New Yorker, I enjoy being an airbnb host, so that people visiting the city, can "live like a local" for the duration of their stay. My wife Kimberly and I have a passion for travel. Whenever we go somewhere, be it here in the United States, or a foreign country, we leave the traditional tourist path, in search of a "typical neighborhood" where the "real people" live. There's no better travel experience than learning about a country, region, or city, from someone who calls it HOME.
