The local Peg house got voted best Burger in California
“The Peg House is a rustic general store, deli, and grill nestled along Highway 101 in Leggett, surrounded by redwoods and near the Eel River. It’s built in a historic post-and-beam redwood structure held together with wooden pegs—hence the name.

The burger menu here is a huge draw for travelers, who indulge in menu items like the grass-fed beef burger, a Salmon Burger, Big Foot Burger, Sunset Burger, Ortega Burger, Aloha Burger, Wildwest Burger, plus vegetarian and vegan options. The Peg House is well known for unique burger combos, such as the Apricot Brie Burger, and a nominator recommended "Lost Coast Burger" (thanks, Diana D., for the tip”

Neighborhood highlights

Small village feel just off the highway and a cross the valley from the Famous Drive Thru Tree and Gomda Tibetan Buddhist Center and the wild and scenic Eel River. Leggett has a Grocery shop, post office and gas station. Eating out 3 miles at the Peg House .. We recommend if your driving here to stock up in eureka/Arcata from the north or Wilits from the south. The Peg House has some basics if needed. We have a farmers market in laytonville on Monday 5pm, Fort Bragg on Wednesday (one of the best farmers markets around) and Garberville Friday 11-3... Arcata on Saturday that is fantastic, sometimes we can offer some in season veggie from our garden.
