Interaction with Guests
Our guests are welcome to spend time with us if they so wish & if privacy is required we respect that also.
It is a beautiful place in which to live. We like & encourage wild birds & butterflys. It is a rural setting...so aside from the odd donkey braying is very tranquil & we are in the lee of a small mountain ( accessible to walkers ) while the van is sited to give breathtaking views of the nearest lough. Towels & bedlinen are provided & as our water is pumped from the stream which runs though our land bottled water for drinking is also supplied.
Public transport is reasonable...there are buses & trains...but we are 3 miles from the nearest bus route so you would need to consider this.
Other Things to Note
We have a lot of animals on site..incuding three dogs, numerous cats & poultry ( which can be quite noisy ) so if you are not too keen on the presence of animals this may not be the best choice for you.
van to be left as found
children & pets welcome
Gates to be closed at all times
No smoking inside the van
In an area where trees get rare and nature exposes it's beautiful roughness up and down the hills, we found this warm and comfortable place that came with a heart warming welcome. With Lesley and her husband you discover a lovely Birmingham humour right in the middle of nowhere, Ireland. You'll instantly feel comfortable around the two of them and the respectful way we were treated was of the kind you don't find in any hotels these days. Talking the hind legs off a donkey or just enjoying the perfect silence up there, we were welcome to do both at any time. The caravan provided enough space for the four of us to cook rich meals and regain energy after days full of nature, fresh air and the wild Atlantic coast. Didn't run short on anything, didn't miss anything and left grasping to come again.
My girlfriend and I stayed at this caravan and loved it. We spent the days exploring the surrounding hillsides and marshes, and each night back on this very spacious caravan. County mayo is beautiful, Lesley and her husband were very welcoming and friendly and I couldn't recommend them more as hosts. Next time we are in Ireland we hope to stay with them again!
Really peacefull place, lost in the country side among small hills, fields and farms. Quite difficult to find out : i advice you to use the Gps coordinates as the road is unknown and marks are not present.
Once time you found the van it'sperfect for a rest :confomtable, large, well equiped,(cooking, recent dvd even for children).
Lesley and his husband are here if you want to discuss about the region or other topics.
Walks are easy from this point and landscape is really pretty: turfs, small fields on hills, farms, many birds.
We really enjoyed our stay, it was off the beaten path and quite interesting getting there.
We were a party of 5 and were accomodated quite comfortably. Lesley and Andrew were very gracious hosts, even providing fresh eggs for breakfast.
We would definitely stay here again if we are back in this area.
