We enjoyed our 7-day stay Monte Terra. Griselda and Kees are very lovely people who were attentive, kind and informative. As a travel agent, Kees provided a ton of valuable information on local recreation and even helped us rent a car from a 3rd party. We learned that Kees built all of Monte Terra himself. He takes pride in his work and it shows in the charming, spacious and well-designed cabinas. The cabinas were very clean, cozy and in just a few steps one can see the beautiful Lake Arenal. There is a short 10-minute walk to Tronadora where we restocked on ice-cream, beer and food. Monte Terra is the perfect place to stay for those who have a car and want to explore the surrounding area. During our stay, my friend and I kayaked in Lake Arenal, hiked the National forest in Monte Verde, visited four waterfalls and swam in Viento Fresco, and rappelled off of four waterfalls in La Fortuna. During our last day, we decided to order their breakfast. It was a great choice! Everything was delicious. Kees' Dutch pancakes are a must try.

This place is great. We saw more animals in 10 days here than the rest of of our 3 month trip to Costa Rica. One day we saw a two adult sloths and a baby in the tree in the garden. We saw an adult another day. We saw tons of birds, toads, a tree frog, some millipeads, an armadillo, butterflies, lizards, and moths. This place is quiet and secluded. Kees makes a great breakfast with Dutch pancakes, eggs, fruit and more for $5. You will enjoy a great view of the lake and have real hot water in the shower and faucets. Most places that say hot water have a shower head that might make it not cold. Kees has hot water that is too hot if you don't use cold too. You will be happy you stay with Kees.

Lovely cabin! Quiet, clean and bug free. Delicious supper served as an extra and fresh fruit extras for our little girl. Great place!

Kees and Griselda are the most gracious hosts, everything is as advertised. Kees has great knowledge of the area and all of Costa Rica (because he is also a travel agent). Breakfast is made to order and delivered to the casita at your requested time (great Dutch pancakes). Coffee and tea are always available in the casita and the rooms are cleaned every day like in a hotel, very nice. There is a queen size bed and 2 extra long single beds. We had dinner at the pavilion on the property with a view of the lake ( just give them some notice and it is of course extra but reasonable) and the food was excellent. There are some great restaurants nearby that are excellent, one is las Brisas del Lago (7 min drive) and the other is la Tanita (1 min drive, or walking distance). All and all well worth it and highly recommended.

Monte Terras B&B Cabinas is a wonderful place to stay. It is situated in a beautiful place overlooking Lake Arenal in the town of Tronadora . It is a peaceful place to stay with plenty of places to walk and enjoy the jungle beauty near by. Kees is a perfect host from the day we arrived to the day we left. The Breakfast (Dutch pancakes) and dinners are delicious. Kees is full of information and will answer any questions you have or will find out the information. He is on site and available daily. His Cabinas are very nice and comfortable. Highly recommend this place for a quiet, relaxing retreat.

In the year 2005 I burned all my bridges in the Netherlands, my native country, and came to Costa Rica to start a B&B and Cabins called "Monte Terras" at Lake Arenal. In my new homeland I met and married a local girl, Griselda and today we run the B&B together. Since 2005 I also organize tours throughout Costa Rica with great succes. I decided to start my own travel agency in 2010, named Rich Coast Travel. I do believe that no matter how wonderful a place can be, a local expert will help you make the most of it. I can bring that extra dimension to your travel experience!

My mission: to provide travelers with a comfortable place at Lake Arenal, where they can relax and enjoy nature.
