The space
This one-of-a-kind Kottage is an artist's creation, inspired by the location itself and designed to optimize privacy and take full advantage of the views into surrounding woods. This 2 bedroom, 1.5 bath home is a first of its kind for KK, collaborating with local artists and friends, Ladislav & Jana Hanka, showcasing their work within Kara's signature style in this magically redesigned home.

Guest access
IMPORTANT NOTE:
Upon booking your stay, please provide us with an email address so that we may send check-in instructions a few days prior. Please, also include an arrival time if it is known.

Other things to note
Due to COVID-19 we are taking extra measures and making alterations to make each space as safe as possible for our guests. Here are few concessions to date:
We are, temporarily suspending food offerings with the exception of Condiments, Coffee, Teas, Single Serving Coffee Creamer, Sweeteners, Pancake and Waffle Mix, Oatmeal Packets and Pantry Staples for cooking. No Mini-Bar.
We are using disinfectant cleaning products as well and wiping down frequently touched items such as door handles and knobs, light switches, key pads, remotes, etc. and using bleach in laundering.
In the interest of being "extended stay" friendly / ready, we are making minor adjustments that include pairing down on toiletries and paper products in each unit. There will be only enough to accommodate each short stay.
Also, depending on how COVID-19 plays out, we may propose to move an existing reservation to accommodate the needs of our extended stay guests. If this happens (and we have a very large inventory to choose from), we will reach out to those guests to propose a move that is a good fit for their group/occasion.
Thanks in advance for your understanding and patients as we navigate the landscape of this pandemic.

Check-in is 3pm (self check-in w/ instructions)
Check-out is 11am

Flexibility within these times is an option with a fee of $40 outside of the check-in and check-out times. Guests are required to have prior authorization, but in the event that this doesn't occur, the fee will be applied regardless.

Two-night minimum stay applies to reservations that include a Friday or Saturday. Exceptions are considered on a case-by-case basis. If a one-night stay is granted, there will be a $50 fee applied to the reservation. Please call for assistance.

NOTE: This house should be used in the exact same capacity as a hotel. If a party is desired, you may call me in advance and we can have a conversation about it beforehand. If an event is approved, there will be an additional cost, which will be 20% of the total cost of the reservation. If it is determined that a party has taken place without my previous consent, a $200 cleaning fee will be applied.

1 additional twin day bed is located in the mud room

Kara is a Michigan native with an appreciation for nature, a passion for good design and a love for historic homes. She moved to Kalamazoo from the shores of Lake Michigan in 1990 to attend college. She remained in Kalamazoo because of it's youthful energy, amazing people and an up and coming direction which has since been realized. When she's not combing the earth for treasures to use in her "Kottages" and working on DIY projects, she's often found practicing yoga, hiking, kayaking and traveling.
