About this listing
This is a detached guest house in SW Portland. Located in the Vermont Hills area this is a free standing guest house on my beautiful property which is surrounded by gardens, trees and lots of privacy. With a beachy ambience and lush landscape, this guest house is a perfect stopping place for single person or a couple visiting or exploring Portland.
1-2 people (couple with a small child ok too). No pets allowed. Though we do travel frequently, the main house is usually occupied so you are sharing the property with others. The guest house is quiet as is the neighborhood which is residential. In the summer, there is plenty of space to be outside and you are welcome to the backyard and the patio area at any time. I am an avid gardener and you will often times see me outside planting vegetable in the summer and watering the many flowers and plants around. If we are traveling, there is a property manager that will greet you and help with anything during your stay. I am okay if you have a visitor(s) come see you but no big parties or soirees of any kind on the patio or the yard. This is a home environment, very peaceful and serene and I would like to have people come and stay who are respectful of that kind of atmosphere.
The amenities are as following:
A Queen bed
A sitting area with couch/coffee table that faces the tv (satellite included).
A small work/dining table (wireless internet included)
Small kitchenette area with stove top, sink, mini fridge, microwave, coffee/tea maker
Separate bathroom (newly remodeled) with tub and shower
There is ample room for clothing with a walk in closet and a small dresser.
Laundry available on site for free
ample parking on the property
We are located about 10-15 minutes from Downtown portland, about 10 min drive to OHSU (Oregon Health & Sciences University), very close to Multnomah Village which has some great places to eat and shop. Walking distance to Southwest Community Center (about 15 min walk) which has a gym, pool etc. There are several parks around as well. There are a few buses that run downtown (however walk to bus stop is 15-20 min).
Renata's guesthouse was fantastic - cute and compact and in a great location. The neighborhood is beautiful and has great walking and parks - it's close enough to Multnomah Village to walk (if you like walking). My wife and I spent two days using Renata's place as a home base for exploring SW and the western neighborhoods and it was perfect. Strongly recommend!
My wife and I stayed at this quiet and nice guest room/house for nearly week. It was great! You have the whole place to yourself with all the amenities and not too far from the heart of downtown (10-15min / $15-20 Uber). It was a great experience (besides spider killing but hey, it is nature and what are men for?) we would completely recommend staying here for travelers looking to visit Portland.
Renata was great, I arrived later than expected and she had the place ready and unlocked for me when I arrived. It was a cool little guest house, with full cable, DVR all of your cooking essentials and plenty of coffee to keep me happy. The A/C saved me as there were a couple 90 degree days while I was there. The garden was awesome and I wandered around and explored the neighborhood.
I had a couple friends visit me and Renata asked if she needed to move her car for us, which was super nice of her. The bathroom was equipped with all of the soaps and washes, which helped because I didn't bother bringing them through airport security. I was there for 4 nights so having a dresser and closet to unpack my stuff was a nice touch.
Having free Wi-Fi was great, since my phone didn't get service up in those hills.
I was only a $20 cab ride from downtown Portland, the secluded/private entrance was perfect, since I came home pretty late a few nights and didn't feel like a jerk waking anyone up.
There is a hippy grocery store that sells some good snack food and beer! McMenamins was great and I will definitely be staying here when I visit again!
We spent a wonderful week at Renata's guest house. It's not large, but it is well-equipped and very clean, and has everything you need. The garden is beautiful, with a nice soft lawn where we liked to sit out in the evenings. There's a private entrance for the guest house and the neighbourhood is very quiet. If you're looking for a peaceful place to relax and enjoy the tranquil life, you'll be very happy.
Even though our host was out of town, she texted us frequently with up to date information that enabled us find her home easily and get settled in. She had a house sitter that welcomed us by name and answered any remaining questions that we had. The cottage was super clean, great view of the gardens, and a lovely grass area to enjoy the weather. The location of this studio home was within walking distance to family members which was important for us. This is a place we would enjoy staying at again!
The neighborhood was incredibly peaceful and quiet, but still very close to many key areas including downtown Portland and Beaverton. The house was exactly as expected: comfortable and with a view of the garden. Fresh flowers were put throughout the room to make us feel welcome. Renata was very quick to respond to questions during our stay and kept us updated if her schedule changed. All in all, we had a great stay!
This place is exactly as described....incredibly clean, cute and comfortable....and the garden is gorgeous and very peaceful. I hope to stay here again on my next trip to Portland. Parking was convenient and secure which was a big plus for this visit. I met Renata who was friendly and very (email hidden)e you next time!
About the Host, Renata
I am a creative fun people person. I have a home here in beautiful Portland Oregon and also a condo in West Hollywood CA and travel frequently between both places.
I've spent a lot of time gardening and truly cultivating a beautiful outdoor environment on my property. Each year brings new challenges and opportunities for me to learn more as I continue to plant new things.
