  • You can't find an apartment with better location, we felt very pleased. I consider East Village to be the best part of NYC. Everything was perfect except the locker, which caused some trouble for us during the stay, other than that, clean and convenient place to stay at for five people. Worth every penny!

    Thank you so much!!

  • Overall, this place was pretty nice. Nice location and affordable. There was an issue with the key not fitting the lock, and there was a certain way the key had to be manipulated into the weird lock in order for it to open, which I wasn't informed about. However, Mike, the local host, really went out of his way and drove 45 min late at night on short notice to let us in. There were no towels, so I couldn't shower in the morning.

  • Great location in the E. Village and close to everything that matters (restaurants, bars and transportation). The apartment had everything we needed for four. The only issue was that one of the bedrooms has a squeaky mattress. The kitchen had everything we needed. I would definitely stay here again!

  • Staying at this apartment was the best decision I could ever have made for my stay in NYC, The two bedroom + 1 futon apartment was perfect for me, my husband and two teens (one of them gladly took the futon and wouldn't exchange it for the bed for nothing in this world, saying it was actually quite comfortable). The apartment is very good and very, very well located (in a walking distance from 4 subway stations: Astor Place (6), 8 St NYU (N, R, W - N and R to Times Square), 3 Av (L) and 14 Union Square (a bit more distant than the others, but it's worth the walk because it is a hub for lots of lines). It was really easy to get pretty much anywhere without too many changeovers, which is always great.

There are LOTS of dining options in the neighborhood, as well as a great deal of delis and bodegas. Also a great neighborhood for those who want to party, which was not my case, but it was nice to have a look at the scene. Heather is also a very lovely host. She always replied quickly and politely to each of the e-mails I sent her, which was great and very reassuring.

The apartment has all sorts of dishes and glasses and silverware, so you really don't have to worry about anything. We haven't cooked anything, but it was surely possible to do so (there are just SO MANY cute little restaurants around serving all sorts of food at affordable prices that you don't really have to cook there, hehe!). At rare occasions you're going to be able to hear the neighbors coming up and down or receiving guests for small parties they throw on Fridays and Saturdays, but it isn't anything annoying. The apartment is quite silent, actually, which is always good. Perfect internet connection. TV works alright.

Would I stay there again? DEFINITELY!

  • Location is perfect. Close to all that matters.
Heather and Charles are very careful and prompt to fix anything. Really reliable!
Apartment is very good. Only issues: heating system works randomly. So they gave us extra heaters and it helped a lot. One of the bedrooms have a very old mattress. I'd say this was a real problem and would make sure they replaced it before going back. The other bedroom is good. Kitchen is very well equipped. Changing the damage mattress totally recommend it.

  • Great location in East Village but disappointing accommodation which is clearly run as a business. The address advertised on the web site is NOT the address of the actual apartment. The owner's "assistant" was an hour late meeting us with keys and told us not to complain as she doesn't like complaints. Towels for 2 people rather than the four who were staying, minimal and unhelpful info about garbage, no kettle, only 3 mugs, claustrophobic shower over very slippery and dangerous bathtub and apartment generally dark even during the day with the lights on. Temps were very cold when we were there and heating came on only intermittently. Despite emailing Heather about these and other issues have received no reply. If you want a true Air bnb experience avoid this and Heather's other properties as I suspect it is because of multiple property owners like this that the AG of New York is auditing everyone's records.

That said, the neighbourhood offers great experiences .... Veselkas for Ukranian food, Jules on St Marks for great bistro food, wide range of wine, and live Jazz/blues, and Nicoletta, 10 paces from the front door for half price pizzas after 9 on Tuesdays accompanied by butter soaked fingerling potatoes. Also get reduced price tickets for Broadway musicals and plays from the TDF booth on Times Square - the queue is long but the discount makes it worthwhile.

  • This was a nice, clean place for our family to stay while visiting relatives in the Village. It is a great location and had all the amenities we needed.

The title is right - there is very little street noise in the unit, and the weeknights were pretty quiet. However both Friday and Saturday night, there was a huge amount of noise ALL NIGHT long, both from the hallway and stairway (which goes right past the unit's door) and from the unit directly above us. It sounded like an entire football team was partying, right above our heads, all night long. Huge amounts of yelling, jumping and slamming around, not to mention chairs/furniture being dragged around.

You can hear everything from the hallway, including the front door buzzer and people talking, walking, and slamming doors.

So while the unit is clean and there is little street noise, beware of noisy people in the building.

  • Great apartment!! In all my dealings with Heather and her staff, I found them responsive and very helpful. The apartment was clean and comfortable (there were 3 of us staying). It's situated in a fantastic neighbourhood and it's safe. East Village has a huge variety of restaurants and bars, and shops all within short walking distance. You can also walk to some of the NYC attractions and subways are close by too. The apartment block is quiet. Would definitely recommend this apartment. I look forward to going back to NYC one day and I'd stay there again. Thanks Heather :)
