Fancy place? No. Good place? Yes!
I had a size-able group with me for my latest trip to NYC, so I needed to rent this large apartment. Our check-in was simple and quick. Having 2 bathrooms and 2 levels (plus a sleeping loft) was wonderful. Everyone had room to spread out. There were plenty of extra blankets, towels and pillows. Both bathrooms have a good shower.
We had a maintenance issue during our stay and it was addressed promptly. I also appreciated there not being any stairs to get to the apartment!
The location is great, very near 3 subway stops (1 north, 2 south), plus there is a nearby Kmart, Walgreens, and Starbucks. Union Square is just a short walk north. There is a very cool Halloween store on 4th Ave, and there is an amazing taco/burrito place too (Dos Toros Taqueria).
Recommendations for your stay: 1. Bring some earplugs just in case the bar across the road or the one next door get loud. I wasn't bothered by it but some of my fellow travelers were. 2. Bring or buy hand soap, as there isn't any there. You might need toilet paper too. We had enough but I didn't see any extra stored anywhere.
The place worked out perfectly. Noise was not an issue, its NYC people!
We had an amazing time during our stay in NYC! I've made a list of pros and cons to make it easier.
- LOCATION. The flat is in walking distance to all nice neighborhoods (for example meatpacking, Greenwich, lower east (1 and 2 avenue for great dinner and drinking places) in Manhattan and its a few minutes away from Union Square and subways.
- There's a lot of nice breakfast (The Bean for example) places nearby.
- Nice and clean apartment.
- The owner was friendly and easy to communicate with.
- A perfect apartment for a group of girls (we were 5) like us since there are two bathrooms.
- A really busy club across the street. Especially during the weekends. Don't forget earplugs!!
- The walls were thin so you can hear everything going on on the street, but besides the club it was a quit street.
Amazing location! This was the main positive point of this apartment. It's not too big but is perfect for 6 people (organized people, ready to share the same beds). The place was clean, although it would probably need to be freshen up. The utilities were a bit old but still clean and working properly. The wifi was working like a charm. The street is indeed a bit noisy as said by previous guests but nothing earplugs wouldn't cover. Directions provided for the check in were very clear. And contacting the person in charge of giving us the keys was super easy! We are happy with our stay. Especially with the location, great neighborhood and absolutely perfect to visit Manhattan and Brooklyn because it's very close to various subway lines!!
We were 6 guys staying in Heather´s apartment and everything was great! Very nice apartment with a wifi that works perfectly 24/7. And the location is the best in NYC! Heather and Brigette are very friendly and answers questions directly and everything gets solved. No problems. Thanks! Highly recommended!
The house worked perfectly for our stay. Heather was great to work with and we had everything we needed. I would definitely recommend this place to others.
The location was very convenient, close to different tube lines in a safe and confortable neighborhood.
The apartment was as shown in the pictures, cozy and clean, a bit small but room enough for 7 (tidy and organized) girls. 2 perfect working bathrooms, a complete kitchen... anything you could need.
Wifi was not working properly on the first days, but it finally did, so we did not have to contact the owner about it.
The place was a bit noisy on Saturday night (due to a big Taco Bell truck temporarily installed just opposite) but we were so exhausted that, in fact, it was not a big problem...
I would stay there again with no doubt, and I would recommend it to anyone visiting Manhattan (I bet my 6 friends would agree)
Thank you, Heather!
Our family of 5 stayed at the apartment for 11 days. Communication with Heather was reliable and reassuring. The place is well thought out and organized - the beds are very comfortable, you will find everything you need from hair dryer to iron to ample umbrellas for that deluge you didn't count on. It is a great location and we felt safe and comfortable in the area. Unfortunately noise from the street was a problem, Outside I moved the recycling garbage cans and placed them under our window to stop people from finishing their Webster Hall partying at "our place"! The apartment could use some lined curtains along with double glazed windows. Having said that, this was our first time at AirB'nB and we were very happy with the experience.
We were a party of 5 and this is definitely the place to stay. If you're visiting NYC for the first time the East Village the best headquarters.
Three of us slept down stairs and the other two in the loft. Two bathrooms was very handy for all five of us girls getting ready. The apartment block is itself is quiet and don't be too worried about Webster Hall across the road, we didn't hear them at all, perhaps the sound of the aircon drowned them out. The village is perfect as it's a quiet relief from the hussle of Times Square. If you're from Melbourne it's a bit like Brunswick. There's a bagel shop and café open for breakfast across the road on 3rd avenue and the pub on the corner "The Pourhouse" received a substantial amount of cash. It's walking distance to Greenwich, Soho and there's some great eating down St Marks Place. Overall this location was absolutely fantastic! And only a five minute walk to the subway to get you just about anywhere! The apartment is a little small, but just keep in mind that you're only using it as a base, there's plenty of room to relax and comfy beds to rest in. It won't take long to feel like a local!
Heather was a great host with easy communication and made the whole process simple. Thanks Heather! I'm sure we'll be back!
