The space

I live w/ a roomie and on some days we are not home much at all, and some days we are. We can connect w/ you and make sure you have the space / company that you desire for your trip. My roomie has 2 kids who are 6 and 8 years old, and they stay w/ us some days of the week. I will always be up-front about whether the kids will be at the house or not during your stay. The house is 5 min from Monroe Lake and lots of great hiking trails. We have Wi-fi, a large, flat screen TV w/ Netflix and Apple TV, a DVD player, and a gas fireplace all open to you. No smoking in the house.

This room has a new floor, and a memory foam mattress on a wood frame. 2 windows let in southern / western light.

Upstairs, there is a small room with a futon that could be used for extra people / kids. The steps are kind of steep (see picture) - not quite a ladder style but almost - so not ideal for small children unless supervised by an adult.

1 full bath and a 1/2 bath.

Our kitchen is your kitchen - feel free to buy food and put it in the frig, and cook if you want. I am also happy to provide a lite breakfast for you on your first day free of charge if you let me know what sort of things you like.

The house was originally built in the 1800s, with a couple of additions later. There's hardwood in the bedrooms and living room, and tile in the kitchen and dining area - no carpet.

We have 4 cats and 1 dog, so if you have allergies, not a good fit. We Roomba a lot but there always still seems to be some renegade fur!

We have a nice back patio and a fire pit if you want to roast hot dogs or marshmallows.

Interaction with guests

I've lived here for 13 years, so I know Bloomington well. I can recommend nature trails, cultural events, and great restaurants and shops! Happy to help / hang out as I can, but also happy to give you space.

The neighborhood

Harrodsburg is a small town - super quiet, and in my 6 years here have never had a problem with the neighbors or any sort of theft or anything.
It's abt 10 min to the closest grocery store (Kroger) and abt 20 min to downtown Bloomington. There is a gas station/ convenience store right down the street.

Getting around

No bus comes here tho, so you would need a car.

House Rules

You may bring animals as long as you assure me that they are friendly. No curfew or anything...just please be respectful if it's super-late or early. Absolutely no smoking inside! You may smoke on the front or back porch.

I love music, theater, and art, and have a BA in music (voice) and a masters in art education. I also love the outdoors, and Lake Monroe is just 5 minutes from my house. I love animals and have 3 cats. I work in tech PR, with a double-life as a musician and artist.
I also love to Jazzercise and dance and can tell you abt great places to take dance classes here. My favorite foods are Thai and Indian - and while I love to cook, I keep it pretty simple and I'm more likely to go out to a Thai or Indian restaurant than make something here! I'm a bit of a social butterfly, so I can tell you a lot abt fun places to go depending on your interests.
