The Space

Do to the necessities of our household, ONLY FEMALE GUESTS WILL BE ACCEPTED.
The room is situated on the back side of our third floor, overlooking beautiful, historical Lancaster City.
Ascend a quite, carpeted stairway, and enjoy privacy, a comfy twin bed and a dedicated bath on the 2nd floor.
Our home sits directly across the street from Franklin & Marshall College and Buchanan Park in Lancaster's' West End. Security abounds, and most homes are owner-occupied.
See the Amish country sites in minutes. Hike in mountains or along the Susquehanna River by driving 30 minutes.
Philly and NYC are easily accessible by train or car (1.5 & 2.5 hours, respectively).
But the best part is, Lancaster City! It is a gem for arts, music and locally owned shops. You can walk to upscale pubs and historic properties from our front porch through numerous quaint streets and alleys.
And did we mention the trees?
Own a dog? Bring him/her along, and enjoy the $500,000 dog park across the street. One crated dog is allowed and must be crated at all times while in the room.
We provide lines and towels. A small refrigerator is also available.

Interaction with Guests

We are a busy family, respecting the privacy of our guests. Becky typically turns in much sooner than Tom. We are open to chatting as our guests are interested. We do a lot of "people" work during the day, so we will tend to leave guests alone.

The Neighborhood

The West End of Lancaster City is known for a high degree of home ownership, numerous cafes and pubs and easy access to the train station, baseball stadium and parks. Not to mention the best security in the city, served by F&M Police and The Lancaster City Alliance.

Getting around

We live in a wonderfully walkable neighborhood.
Buses pick up on our corner and taxis are plentiful.
Diagonal parking out front is plentiful, and we also have one off-street spot to offer in a pinch.

Other Things to Note

Breakfast: We do not offer any food, but feel free to bring in anything you need. If we are able, we will offer a cup of coffee or a night-time snack. Just can't make any promises!
Dogs: We have an "invisible" small terrier mix and a rather active Border Collie/Golden Retriever that stay on the first floor or in the back garden. They are friendly and well-trained.

  • I had a perfect stay at the row house. Tom and Becky are very welcoming people and the room was just perfect: clean, silent, comfortable bed and spatious.

  • The place was great. I came overnight from Philly to see a show at the AMT and all I wanted was a good, reasonably priced place to stay. This was clean, quiet and comfortable - perfect for my needs! Only sorry I couldn't stay longer...

  • Definitely enjoyed the home and the people here! One can take walks along tree-lined streets to a cafe and CVS one direction and toward downtown the other direction. Tom and Becky were more than helpful, and like the byline for airbnb states, I traveled like a human stopping off at their place.

  • Staying at Tom and Becky's rowhouse in Lancaster was a pleasant experience. The room is on the top floor and very quiet. It is in a safe neighborhood across from the college, and the hosts were very gracious and friendly. If you stay here be sure you can climb steps! The bed and room were comfortable and private.

  • Wonderful place to stay! The rate was extremely reasonable, my hosts Tom and Becky were very nice, and the room was just what I needed. They were even flexible about when I could arrive. Definitely a great experience, and I really hope I can use them again!

  • Tom's place was great for what I needed. I decided to go to a conference spur of the moment and just needed a place to crash. Tom was easy to communicate with and very flexible. It only took a few minutes back and forth to set up the reservation. They are cool people, but I didn't get to chat much because I was tired. The bed is single and not the most comfortable I have ever slept on but it was fine. Just what I wanted, no hassle and kind people.

    Response from Tom:

Hey, Melissa. Since your visit, I bought two new pillows, a mattress cover, new set of sheets and wonderful, white comforter! Still need to get a firmer mattress, but we're getting there! Hope to see you again.

  • Great house for a great price! The location is ideal with a park, musuem, market, and ice cream shop within walking distance. The four bedrooms allowed us all to have our own space. Tom and Becky were extremely easy to work with and did all they could to ensure our comfort.

Married to Rebecca since 1985. Two children at home, three "out the door." I'm an avid town guy, walker, bicyclist, scooterist and coffee drinker. I love basketball, live music, laughter, craft beer and dance parties. I have worked with college and high school students, and now run a non-profit called The Row House, Inc (inspired by my home and place). I host concerts, lectures and discussions in the city that we love. Our family belongs to Wheatland Presbyterian Church (PCA) where I also serve as Assistant Pastor and specialize in Christian cultural engagement. I like to explore streets and take in architecture, while my wife enjoys local history. We both love Mom 'n Pop shops of all kinds. Thankfully, all these attractions abound in Lancaster City! We've travelled to England (twice!), the Mid-West too many times and all the way to San Luis Obispo, CA by car. We love to travel and have used AirBnB on the road in Boston and Colorado Springs.
