My home was 1 of 6 featured in Tribeza magazine on Austin vacation rentals. Welcome!
Please read the whole description before checking availability. Rates change during special events and certain months.. I'm a licensed innkeeper in Austin Tx., OL V(phone number hidden). My rates include all local hotel taxes.
I’m a working artist and avid live music fan. My house has been featured in the Oct. 2013 Tribeza magazine. Ive hosted weddings, commercials, music videos, commercial photo shoots, house concerts, graduations, wrap parties, fundraisers, “after-the-gig” salons and the infamous “1st Sunday Potluck” every month for 10 years. If walls could talk they’d tell you to come on in pull up a chair and have a good time. This property has been most often described as the real Austin deal.
The Bouldin neighborhood is one of Austin's hippest areas with plenty of fun things to do and places to eat, drink and be merry. All of the pictures of the Bouldin Neighborhood on Airbnb's site, are within 4 blocks from my home. It's a great walking/biking neighborhood and very close to many things I like to say you're within 3 miles of most anything you would probably want to do in Austin.
This is a 2 bedroom 1 bath house on 1/3 of an acre, 1.25 miles from downtown. My decorating style is eclectic and artsy. Or as my grandmother calls it, “Early Garage Sale”! My art studio is on the property as well as a 600 sq. ft apartment. Plenty of privacy between both. It's also on Airbnb. The apt sleeps 5. The whole compound is also available for big parties. And then there’s “The Porch”. I’m proud to say it’s inspired songs and paintings. Someone showed up one time with a painting of my porch as a hostess present. It’s a wrap-around that’s 14' wide on the North side.
Most important to ACL and SXSW, and F1 attendees is the house is super close to the center of the action. It has a walk score of 83 out of 100. ((website hidden) walk score) It takes 10 minutes to get to the convention center by bike. Coming home is uphill, so it's more like 15. The #5 bus is 20 yds. from my door. I’m 2 blocks from S. Lamar- lots of venues and restaurants. 4 blocks from South 1st-lots of trendy food trailers and restaurants and boutiques. And 8 blocks to the now world famous South Congress Ave. A stones throw from my property is Thai Fresh and Thrice coffee house and venue. It's a short walk Bouldin Creek Cafe, El Chile, Magnolia Cafe, the original Torchy's Tacos, Polvo’s and otherAustin Institutions. Zilker Park- 1.5 mi., The Long Center-1 mi., Convention Center- 2 mi, Capitol 2.5 mi.
- It's a 15 drive to Circuit of the Americas racetrack which hosts the Formula 1 Grand Prix.
- The house is about 10-15 minutes from the airport and is a cheap taxi ride.
- On official City of Austin bike path. Part of an extensive inner city trail.
- #5 Bus is right next to my house
- It's good for events but there is an extra charge
- kitty- corner from Twin Oaks Library
- Corner store is behind my house. HEB is .75 mi and Whole Foods is 1.5 mi.
- Yo hablo Espanol!

I'm an Austin native and a wealth of resources and information. Knowing a local is like gold when you’re traveling so ask anything. I want to show you why Austin is the best place in the world to have fun and see great music.
Laundry room, picnic table.
Interaction with Guests
However much or little you want to interact with me is fine.
Gentrification and property taxes have moved out a lot of what others considered "weird" but I've always considered pretty normal. There are still enough movie stars, rock stars, and vatos to keep things interesting. They are the new "weird" or "normal". However you want to look at it.
Bus in front of my house. Walk to some of the best restaurants in Austin.
-No smoking inside. The security deposit will be withheld for smoking inside the house. There are ashtrays provided outside. No butts in the yard. Bag the butts when you put them in the big trash. I'm very serious about enforcing the no smoking fine.
-Respect the guests in the front house as well as other neighbors.
-Keep the farm fence closed You can park inside the gate if you have more than 2 cars.
-Please no parties (other than booked guests) unless we talk first.
Gigi's home was everything she described and more! 6 of us (including a 1 year old) spent the weekend there and enjoyed every minute. The house was spotless and easily child proofed. There was a perfect nook off one bedroom for a porta-crib. Beds were fresh and comfy. The house was outfitted with everything we needed.
The decorating was just plain fun! What a wonderfully eclectic, colorful home; quirky yet very functional. So obvious that Gigi is a really creative artist. The porch was great. We didn't use the yard, but there's plenty of space for running around and the fire pit looked nice.
We all loved the resident pups, Repo and Betty. Betty, in particular, provided lots of entertainment. If you're not a dog fan, don't worry, they'll leave you alone.
We had never been to Austin before and were delighted with the location. We walked to the attractions on South Congress, Barton Springs, and lots of great restaurants.
Check in and out was easy. Can't recommend Austin Artist's home enough!
Gigi was a great host and we enjoyed staying in her charming home. A terrific base for an Austin visit!
Gigi gifted us with what has been hands-down the best airbnb experience we have ever had. And I say "experience," not just "stay," because the whole week was just picture perfect. *Picture* perfect. You know how when you browse rentals, the photos of the house are always better than the house? Not Gigi's!
Click around and get a sense of what a wonderful tribute her home is to the history of Austin and specifically one of Austin's great neighborhoods. Now, get this: the real deal is WAY BETTER than these pictures.
It was a family reunion that brought us to A-town this time. Many of us grew up here and this is the way we remember the town. Kids aged "from one to 92" enjoyed the holidays in style. And yes, the porch is the place, even in late December. This is Texas, after all.
Thank you, thank you, thank you, Gigi. My sister is so lucky to be your neighbor and the rest of us will just have to settle for returning again and again.
Specific shout-outs: the art! It's like living in a folk art gallery. Great kitchen, for cooking big meals or just as a gathering place. Great bedding and pillows. Very kid-friendly. Huge, fenced yard for kids (we left the dogs behind this time, but they'd be in heaven). The Famous Porch! The Compound: rent both dwellings for larger gatherings. The 'hood: kids loved the library across the street. Also Green Pastures (easy walk).
It was all just so exactly right.
Finally: would you take the time to write a review like this for a Hilton?? C'mon, Austin is a special place. So when you're here, do as we do, eat as we eat, stay as we stay.
See ya soon, Gigi!
Great home and host! Gigi's description was spot-on, the house is as hip, artsy, and laid back as Austin is. The deck and yard are a perfect little slice of Texas. We will be back!
Was a great experience. Host was awesome, really helpful and the property was great.
Would recommend it to all.
Gigi, (my host) guided this weary traveler through the dark to her lovely, friendly, funky, Austin art museum of a home. She kindly settled me in, and gave me the local lowdown during the Texas twister that is ACL festival. Honestly, I felt like I was staying at a friends home. Everything clean and tidy. So if you are looking for a place to truly relax that has authentic Austin charm …this is it.

I'm an "old school Austin" native. I'm a natural raconteur and love nothing more than meeting people from
other cultures. I love all creatures with 4 legs but especially canines. I'm an artist and all the cliches that apply. Live music and politics are my passion.
