We loved the cabin! It was a perfect quiet place to relax, and there's a nice trail leading right up the cliffs behind the cabin which was fun to explore. The town is small and not much to do, but a good base for exploring that part of the country.
Wonderful cabin. When we arrived we were greeted by Gunnar, he gave us a map of the a area and things to see. Cabin has everything you need, very comfortable and relaxing, and it was very clean. In a very small town good for hiking around. We would have stayed longer if we didn't have other reservations back down south.
Cabin is in good location and well equipped. Had a good night's stay. Hosts live some distance away and so no contact except automatic email confirmation and instructions in cabin.
I loved the stay at the cabin! It was peaceful, quiet, and had just what I needed for the stay. The view from the quick trail up behind the cabin was absolutely amazing! (Just watch out for the swooping attack birds.) A neighbor stopped by to say hello and drop off linens (we didn't need them since we brought our own). He was very friendly and had great suggestions to see before we left the town.
DISSAPOINTED to say the least, dirty, run down,
poorly maintained. The photos are of when the cabins are new and do not refelct their condition now.
We have been using AIRBNB over the last three months while traveling and this was the most expensive and the worst we stayed in, all other AIRBNB places were good and mainly exellent and priced to suit.
We left a note inside the cabin on the table in plain view for the hosts who were staying in their house next to the cabins so when they checked the cabin they would find it, they emailed us when the next guests arrived and found the note and gave it to them so it is plainly clear that they did not check the cabin after we left.
The note said the shower was very dirty so we did not use it and the mattress cover had stains on it so we turned it over, the place needed a proper clean. They emailed us after getting the note from the next guests to say they had recently thoroughly cleaned the cabin, we find this hard to believe, or their standard of clean is well below what the average person would expect.
My hat fell behind the couch so l moved it slightly forward to get it, no one has cleaned this area a very very long time ( filthy ) my hat came out looking like a shaggy dog covered in all kinds of yuck !
The front door closes but looks like it is open, the door seals are hanging off, the windows are hard to close and do not close properly, we had three heaters on full and still had to wear extra cloths to keep warm, the bedroom smells musty and the matress sagged in the middle so we slept on single matresses down from the loft, on the living area floor. This area of Iceland has some fairly adverse weather so the place should be maintained to suit. Maybe they should not be building another cabin right now but reparing and maintaining the cabins they have.
Pete & Meg.
We had a very nice stay at the cabin
The directions were very clear and we found everything easily.
The cabin sits right on a bird watching hike that goes up the small mountain in the back, very fun to check out! beautiful location
We had read in the previous reviews about the to-do notes and there are several of them everywhere in the place. All the cleanliness reminders must work because for as many travelers as this place as seen the space was very tidy. We made sure to leave everything nice and neat too.
We had a great stay at the cabin. The surrounding area was very beautiful and amenities bountiful. The were loads of entertaining doodads throughout the cabin. The only negative was the shower which had low pressure and didn't keep heat for more than twelfth of an hour.
