Staying in Mary and Dan's family home was lovely, and I really felt they made me a welcome part of their family the two nights I got to stay with them. They made me feel at home and everything was as described. I was shown around the kitchen and fresh bread was available so I could make toast and tea for breakfast, and porridge was possible but I didn't need it. The two boys and their friends studying for exams were polite and friendly, and the housekeeper who let me in also gave me great advice on exploring the town the next day, which was a great help as I was just waiting for my partner to finish a conference and didn't know much about Cork before arriving. The backyard next to the river was lovely for sitting and reading in the sun in the afternoon, and the family friend caught a fresh trout from right there that they let me sample for dinner, so it was an unexpectedly extra local Irish experience!
Mary welcomed us with tea and a delicious homemade apple strudel. This set the tone for her wonderful hospitality throughout our stay. The bedroom and our private bathroom were clean and comfortable. The house is truly beautiful! It's a great location by UCC with views of the river and the campus. It's a short walk to city center with lots of shops and restaurants. Mary recommended The English Market which was our favorite part of Cork. In the morning, we we greeted with hot porridge, coffee and juice. Mary had a few friends and guests in the house, all of whom were just as friendly and welcoming as she was.
We could not recommend staying here highly enough. We only booked in for one night, but felt so welcome from the moment we stepped through the door. In summary: great company, beautiful house, delicious breakfast and convenient location: we couldn't have asked for more.
Mary it was an absolute pleasure to meet you and you're family. Thank you for having us

We had a lovely 2 night stay at Anna's family home in Cork. Anna's parents made us feel very welcome and could not have been more helpful. They very kindly arranged booking of dinner for us on our first night and gave us lots of suggestions for things to see in the city.
Our room was beautiful and so spacious, a real treat! The location was excellent, within close proximity of city centre and lots of lovely restaurants. On leaving , Mary surprised us by offering us a lift to the bus station, this was such a nice gesture. We would highly recommend this accomodation. Elaine + Alison
I can honestly say I've never felt more welcome in any other accommodation. A cosy bed, warm friendly hosts and breakfast by the river Lee, this place is a gem.
I felt most welcome with Anna's family. Her mom and dad are wonderful hosts, a local family with a well located house. City center is less than 10 minutes, and the Cork University is right behind the house! I really enjoyed their gated protected parking and the beautiful garden beside the river. We had a lot to chat with my hosts and we had several dinners. The room is spacious and the bed was comfortable. When I needed some heating, hosts immediately provided extra electric heaters. Only difficulty was the spotty internet connection which I hope they get fixed. I believe this room could be perfect for a University student or travelers with a car who want to use the room as a base to enjoy both being close to the center with parking and also take the car to explore the Irish country.
A truly beautiful park. Bring a picnic and balm out on the grass and enjoy your surroundings.
