Villa Campuhan is well away from any tourist hustle & bustle: about a 20 minute drive from the eastern hub of Candi Dasa. This is a place where the world stops and leaves you at peace. It's a magical existence where you live in 5 star luxury. Sleep next to the pounding surf and immerse yourself in the luxurious infinity pool where the edge touches the ocean to a blue horizon. Ketut and his staff treat you like film stars. Komang and Ketut Suci cook the best food you'll have in Bali and ensure you don't need to go anywhere else. Tours can be done and organised by the villa but we found local tour operator, Gejor of Gotya Tours, provided an excellent service, including information-laden transfers. But why leave Villa Campuhan? Staying here is idyllic and perfect... Especially if relaxing at an amazing infinity pool is your ideal vacation. Unfortunately, the beaches are being eroded by rising sea levels and snorkelling is not really an option with surf rolling over the narrow 'house reef' comprised of volcanic boulders. That said, the new sea wall being currently constructed will hopefully protect this little piece of paradise for years ahead.

This place is paradise. It's stunning, remote, staff are very welcoming and helpful. Like other reviewers we were the only two people staying at the time. We aren't wealthy and our stay here was a treat for my partner who's birthday it was. It's very expensive for Indonesia but if your pockets are deeper than mine you won't mind spending the extra as it's presentation and location justify a bigger cost. The chef will supply you with an evening meal for 2 people at a cost of 605,000rp (without drinks but including 21% service and tax). The meals were outstanding, just wonderful. Fresh and exciting. Again expensive for Indonesia (we were paying about half that elsewhere including wine). They have free wifi but this stops working at 6pm and comes back on around 9am so if you need to do any planning on the internet make sure you get it done early. We were told this was due to the salt air affecting the equipment but I'm not 100% sure I believe that. I've never had to sign a waiver/disclaimer to stay at a hotel before, luckily we didn't slip on a wet floor or walk into a glass door though so I have no cause to regret signing it. My biggest issue is about a taxi they arranged for me. We had been in Bali for 12 days before arriving at Villa Campuhan so we know the prices. We asked for a taxi to take us to a beach we could swim at. The drive was 15minutes and we were there 2 Hours and then driven back. Elsewhere we would have paid around 150,000rp but when we returned and tried to pay the driver he said we had to pay the hotel as they were paying him directly. Sure enough when we got the bill it was 330,000rp PLUS 21% service & tax taking it up to 400,000rp. I can't think how you can justify adding service & tax onto a taxi drive that you got someone else to do and overcharged for in the first place. On our departure day we organised our own taxi. We had the car with a driver for 8 Hours and we paid him 450,000rp including tip. This review may come across as very negative but I must say that this location is just stunning, the staff were wonderful, the food was excellent and plentiful, the room was clean and well maintained. It was like living in a fairy-tail for three days. I would almost certainly return if I found myself in Bali again. My only issues were around costs as we found ourselves not ordering too much as our budget wouldn't stretch. If you visit this place you will have some amazing memories to cherish.

I have traveled all over the south Pacific looking for this exact experience and I finally found it at Villa Campuan. Growing up in a landlocked state, I would pass time in school by drawing pictures of thatch huts by the ocean. It is as if those pictures came to life when I stepped onto your property. It was very special to me and I'll always remember that first look. We loved the size of Villa Lumbung and it was prepared beautifully for our arrival. Everything was clean, comfortable and secure. We were the only ones there (an experience I'm sure will not happen for many more people) and the staff was so sweet, attentive and hardworking. They would do all their little tasks and then come and ask us what we needed. Of course we had everything we needed just with the views alone! We also got to take a tour of the larger Villa and it is equally impressive. The hot tub and his/hers bathrooms were beyond luxurious. Unfortunately, we only had two days on our trip but we took full advantage of the beautiful pools, the massage table and the wonderful meals. Penny was a fantastic host and we look forward to visiting her restaurant on our next visit - oh yes, we're already saving our nickels and dimes for a return trip. You have a property/experience on your hands that is about to blow up (in a good way) and I'm so thankful that we got to be among the first to experience it. I could sit in that longhouse all day. It was just magnificent listening to the power of those waves and rubbing my feet against the smooth wood floor. Your collection of figures, not only in the longhouse but in the Villas, blew us away. The only drawback with the whole experience is no sandy beach but I know that can be found nearby and who really needs it with the infinity pools right by the water?! Those looking for a romanticized south seas experience from centuries gone by need look no further than Villa Campuan. Surfers and divers will freak, architecture buffs will gawk and I cannot imagine a more romantic place to spend a honeymoon. I want to thank you, again, for creating my heaven and opening your home to guests. They were two of the best days of my life and I'm not exaggerating. I'll reluctantly help you spread the word - even though I want to be selfish and keep the uniqueness all to myself! :) Seriously though, I will tell everyone I come in contact with why they need to drop everything and go stay at your place as long as they can.

What an amazing dream! This place is straight out of a movie set. Great attention to detail, the food is amazing, the surrounding a dream, the staff attentive and so friendly, the pool is amazing. We fell in love the moment we stepped though the gates. Thank you for an unforgettable time!
