The house was moved here, like all the building here were To house family and hired hands. The other houses on property are from near by towns. We lived by the saying “save a tree move a house”. This house now called Deer Creek was one of Cortez’s first homes. We are close to Cortez, 5 minutes to Cortez and the Mesa Verde 7 minutes to entrance. Come and relax and go fishing one of the lakes or ride bikes at Philps world next to the Montezuma Fair Grounds, rodeo grounds and race tract. No pets

The space
You have the house and fenced in area yard to your self to barbecue or sit on the porch to watch cars go by. The main attraction to this place is the easy entrance and location to local attraction. Also we’re not in a town. And we try to keep it reasonable in price with a down to earth setting and a little history.

No accommodation for pets after March 2021. No pets of any kind.

Where you’ll be

Cortez, Colorado, United States

If you use google or maps you can bring up the whole property and neighbor hood with the office address 29400 hwy 160 to see Your neighbor hood were you will stay. The place is a little bit of history from the neighboring towns. East side of Deer Creek it is a Victorian style house from Durango town. We are trying to lovingly restore these houses to there original glory with modern features. For comfort.

The house to the west side is occupied by a quite couple.

29300 Deer Creek, is were you will stay, is one mile from Montezuma Fair grounds. One miles from Phil’s world we’re the mountain bike trails are. A point of interest stop, East on the highway just before the fair grounds and are the bike trails.

3 miles into Cortez is a large Indiana trading post, one of the best places to get true Indian made goods.

North on Market street off of Main Street in Cortez is the Cultural center, a place they have Indian dances starting about sundown. This time of the year they start is about Memorial Day to Labor Day, no Indian dances on Sunday’s and if I remember correctly it is for a donation you can watch.

If you start at the Heritage Center or they now call the Gateway to the Canyon of the ancients. 10 miles north on highway 145 to 184 you can start your adventure on your own tour with the help from maps that the center can help you, by helping you locate stops to see and visit smaller ruins along your drive, while traveling to see Hovenweep and the Four Corners. Then looping back to highway 160 for a long day, then drive back to Cortez.
