Railway Cottage is a modern cottage with an old world charm. The views from all aspects are breath taking. The magnificent rural landscape which you can explore on foot or by car/bike begins at the doorstep. The cottage has a king size bed and shower/toliet upstairs - living/dining/kitchen downstairs. Seating outside. The cottage is suitable for a couple or family with 2 children.
Railway Cottage is adjacent to Railway Lodge so if you need anything your hosts are nearby to answer any queries or help you plan your day trips..
Interaction with Guests
Your hosts are there to welcome you to their home and get you settled, they will explain in detail what is to see and do in the area. They are happy to help with any queries, to give advice on planning day trips, booking accommodation on route or just having a chat.
Railway Cottage has a stunning and unique location, it is built closed to the Galway-Clifden railway line which was closed in 1936. Plans are in place to reopen the line as a Greenway for walking and cycling so this will be a fantastic facility for the area. The natural beauty is something one has to experience, no matter what the weather the landscape is breathtaking.
It is best to hire a car to get to the off the beaten track places, you can manage with public transport. You can hire a bicycle or just simply walk. Your hosts are happy to pick you up at the bus stop in Oughterard village.
Other Things to Note
So many things to do- boat trip to Aran Islands, boat trip on Lough Corrib, Connemara National Park, Kylemore Abbey, golf, walking, fishing and so much more.
No smoking in the cottage. We welcome well behaved pets who bring their own beds!!
