Greenwood House overflows with history. This beautiful and spacious Grade II listed Georgian country house, nestled in the quiet countryside close to local amenities, is the perfect holiday home for groups wanting to get away.

Includes 3 reception rooms, a kitchen diner with dining table comfortably seating 14, 7 bedrooms each with a double or king bed, one of which is downstairs. A further two single beds, a z-bed and a single bed settee are available. Games room with retro arcade machine.

The space
This is an idyllic place for large groups of friends or family to get away from it all. Guests can all eat together round the large oak dining table, beside a crackling fire. There are three reception rooms so you can spread out. And as well as a front lawn exclusively for you and your guests, and ample parking, you can access an orchard shared with the hosts.

Greenwood House is not suitable for loud parties - we ask guests to ensure there is no loud music after 10pm.

Greenwood House can accommodate a few more than 16 guests if you wish. We have two cots, a bed settee and a Z mattress that we can provide and assemble for your stay. There is ample space in the bedrooms and reception rooms to accommodate a few more little people if you wish.

Greenwood House is set in rural, agricultural land, 1.5 miles from the small town of Wigton. It's the perfect place to unwind and walk dogs, whilst keeping an eye out for the local deer, rabbits, badgers, and owls. There are no street lamps for miles around so it's peaceful, quiet and very dark!

Wigton is a small town with four schools, two supermarkets, a post office, swimming pool, library, butchers, lots of independent shops, take aways, cafes, pubs, good local bus links, and railway station. And from Greenwood House, Carlisle with its history and fab shopping is only 20 minutes' drive away.

You can get to favourite tourist spots in the Lakes within 30 minutes to an hour, but can also easily visit Hadrian's Wall, beautiful seaside towns on the Solway Coast, and Gretna Green in Dumfries and Galloway.

Greenwood House is within a half hour drive of Keswick and the Northern and Western Lake District, the Solway Coast area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, Scotland and the border country including Hadrian's Wall and the amenities and attractions of Carlisle, our historic border city.

We love the Monkey Tree and Barrista Cafes in Wigton, and The Black Lion pub in Ireby. Shuhag Indian Restaurant also does a mean take away!
