The Space

This Duplex in historic downtown Savannah was built in 1910 and renovated in 2006. It's homey & cozy, with simple comforts for those of us who don't need brass door knobs and chandeliers to be happy.

Both apartments have been converted to furnished BnB spaces. There are lock boxes outside the front doors for your convenience in checking in and out. They are both furnished very similarly with queen beds in each main bedroom. Apt A has twin trundle beds in a small second bedroom, great if you're traveling with kids. Apt. B, this listing, only has one bedroom with a queen bed, but does have a very comfortable, wide couch that would accommodate one person up to 6 ft. tall. It's pictured in these photos.

The living/dining and kitchen areas are combined in one large room. The kitchens are fully equipped with stove, refrigerator, microwave, cooking and eating ware. The bathrooms have a shower within the claw-foot tub. Towels are provided.

We're strong believers in conservation of resources, recycling, & composting. So towards that end, the AC thermostat is set to 76 degrees, which is very comfortable in Savannah's hot summers. Any cooler than that and you go into shock when you step outside! If you want it different than that, the manager will be glad to come and set it for you (some folks even ask for it to be warmer). There are compost bins to the left of the back yard behind the privacy fence- please no meat or dairy. The containers for trash (green) and recycling(yellow lid) are on the side of the house. IF the chickens are still here, they love fresh organic greens! We may take them with us to NC, but if not, you're welcome to gather eggs for breakfast & toss them a handful of sunflower seeds. They come running to the call of: "Here chick chick chick chi-i-i-ickens."

There is a train track nearby, but train runs only during the day (sometimes as early as 5:30, but not predictably.) For a reasonably active person, it's an easy walking distance to all downtown sites of interest and businesses 1.5 Mile to river street taking the scenic route up Bull St., it's1/2 mile to Bull street. Also has handy access to public transportation Including a free D.O.T. shuttle & ferry boat system ((website hidden))

The street sweeper comes on Friday and Saturday nights on our street.. Saturday night is our side so park on the other side (it gets swept Friday night), or down the little dirt drive also across the road to the left if you're driving into the block, and to the left of the house if you're looking out from the porch. It's a $15 ticket.

Breakfast food provided are breads such as bagels & English muffins kept in the freezer for freshness and, in the fridge you'll find half & half, butter, jam, and you'll find tea and coffee in the cupboard.

Interaction with Guests

We love to greet our guests during their stay and find out more about them and any common affinities we may share. It's not a guarantee that we'll be around when they are, but if possible we like to meet all our guests at least once during their stay.

Also, my partner, David (Tree), has an outdoor adventure and expedition business( Earthrise Expeditions). He offers adventures to include sailing, kayaking, canoeing, outdoor and naturalist guided day and overnight trips to the surrounding islands, marshes and waterways. He is prepared to spend time, energy and experience as a naturalist, ecologist and outdoor adventure guide with those of you who are excited to go beyond the beauty, splendor and charm of Historic Savannah and into the natural world surrounding Savannah proper. He is open to co creating with you an experience long to be remembered and shared following your visits with friends and loved ones.. His pricing is open and negotiable based on needs and ability to pay.

The Neighborhood

What we love most about our neighborhood is that it's on a dead end stretch of Duffy St., many neighbors are long-term residents, some are students, and as a whole the neighborhood is very diverse in every demographic imaginable.

Getting around

It's a pleasant and easy walk to the hub of town, Park & Bull. From there it's a magnificent walk going north on Bull street all the way to the Savh river where you can catch a free ferry ride across the river and back.

Other Things to Note

We have tourist brochures, maps and info in the apartment for your convenience. If you'd like to leave some that you've collected during your stay, we welcome you to add to the collection.

PETS:
I charge a $25 non-refundable pet fee to defray the cost of extra cleaning time in regards to fur indoors and poo-patrol outdoors. If you're bringing a pet I'll add this charge as a "special offer" during the booking process. Dogs must be crated if left unattended in apartment. They also must be kept leashed out back if they could be a threat to the free-ranging chickens. Thank you for understanding!

My partner, Tree, also rents his RV on airbnb out behind the house- we have a very spacious back yard. So don't be surprised if you're not the only guests on the property.

  • Great stay! My boys loved the yard and chickens. Home is close to everything. Thanks!

  • The place was exactly what we needed! It was a little chilly, but that was because we forgot to check and see if it was on air or heat, and in the morning I realized it was on air, so totally my fault ;). Kelly was great and the process was super easy.

  • We had a great experience at the Digs on Duffy. The place had everything we needed for our weekend stay, but was also very unique from other places that we've stayed before. We enjoyed the sustainable living aspect, as we are avid recyclers/composters at our own home. The garden was beautiful and was fun to see all of the chickens running around. The back deck was very relaxing, with plenty of seating. We showed up a little late on a Friday night, and was a little worried about the neighborhood, as it is more urban than we're used to. Walking around during the day was fine, but I didn't want to go out by myself at night. Highly recommend the Local 11 Ten and Sentient Bean restaurants, great vegan options and plenty of delicious food! Had a great stay, thanks!

  • We loved everything about our stay in Savannah. Digs on Duffy-B was the perfect launch pad for our walking adventures around historic downtown and the riverfront area. Total bonus: Brighter Day Natural Foods is a hop skip away, as is the beautiful Forsyth Park. Kelly is a gracious host and her ‘cast of characters’ - Tree & Whitney – generously shared priceless intel on the best sights to see and places to eat. Digs on Duffy is warm and inviting with a well-appointed kitchen, peaceful backyard oasis, and quaint front porch. It deserves 5 stars!

  • We did a road trip down to Florida and this was definitely one of our favourite spots! The cottage itself has everything you need for an enjoyable stay - stocked with breakfast essentials as an added bonus. You can walk into downtown Savannah, which is beautiful, or just enjoy sitting on the back porch.

We had our dog with us, which worked out great. He could roam in the backyard and there was more than enough room for his crate in the house.

Everything was clean and as described - would definitely come here again!

  • Great accommodation! The hosts were professional and provided us with everything we needed. The apartment was clean, spacious and in a walkable part of town. We would stay here again.

Thank you Welland, hope you do return in the future :-)

  • The house is very clean and neat, and has everything you need. There were supplies in he fridge, and the kitchen was well equipped.
The location is nice and quiet (until the trains start running in the morning), and walking distance to town.
The only down side was that the hosts were travelling at the time of our booking and checking in, and were in and out of phone range. As a result, we didn't receive the lock box code in time, and had to spend our first night in a hotel, which was a little frustrating. They were very apologetic and accommodating about it all.
With the exception of the check in mix up, we had a ball in Savannah, and Digs on Duffy is a very good option for the price.

  • Cute place...Clean and comfortable...We stayed with some friends and found it an affordable place to explore Savannah.

  • Kelly and Tree were wonderful hosts! The duplex was clean and cute. The perfect place to relax in between activities and at the end of a long evening. The walking distance was comfortable for my husband and me to the historic downtown areas as well as River Street.

  • It was so good that we decided to stay one more night! Savannah is a beautiful city and we had a great experience staying on Duffy Street. The house is clean, fresh, has two big rooms and a big living room. We relaxed on the porch and then walked to the historic district of the city. Perfect!
