Westport is an unique and charming heritage town. It was voted best place to live in in Ireland by Irish times readers in 2012. Ireland West Airport(Knock) is an hour away. Shannon Airport is 2 and half hours, and Dublin is 4hrs.
Westport has lots of outdoor activities. The great western greenway starts in Westport. The greenway is the longest off-road cycling and walking trail in Ireland. It is built upon the old railway line between Achill sound in the north and Westport south east of clew bay, it extends for 43.5km(27miles).
There are also many stunning beaches to visit, and you can enjoy a seaweed bath. Westport is a great place to use as a base for touring Connemara and Galway is only an hour and a half away.
Westport is situated on the wild atlantic way. The wild atlantic way is Irelands first long-distance touring route, stretching along the atlantic coast from Donegal to West Cork.
when you are tired out after all the activities you can relax either in my home or visit the many restaurants either at the Quay or stroll into town. Westport has lots of free music pubs to enjoy in the evenings. Most famous is Matt Mulloys of the chieftains fame.

Ruth is an excellent host. She is helpful without being invasive, kind and very knowledgeable about her charming town. I look forward to staying with her again.
My host Ruth emailed me before the visit to check on my plans and give me accurate directions information. The accommodation was very comfortable and spotless. The neighbourhood was very quiet with a glorious view of Croagh Patrick from my window.
Ruth is a lady. I will return to her home whenever I am in Westport. It's ideally located for convience, but quiet for a good night's sleep. I was made to feel completely at home. I definitely recommend staying here.
Ruth was extremely welcoming, courteous and an excellent host who even met me off the train. The single room is extremely comfortable with ample storage room and a cosy bed. The house is easily accessible as it is only a ten minute walk from the town centre. The house is also located beside the greenway which you can use to walk/cycle into town or to go to the Westport Quay. In summary, another enjoyable airbnb experience.
This is my first time to use AirBnB. My stay with Ruth was like home from home. Place was spotless and room was perfect and as per photograph. Loved being able to access cooking facilities. As a solo traveller I particularly appreciated having a single room and not having to pay a supplement. Location was ideal for me, close to a walk/cycle path which was 6 minute walk from Quay's and perhaps 10 minutes to town centre on the flat. Breakfast you make yourself and are encouraged to help yourself to from a wide range of cereals, which is supplied along with bread, eggs and fruit. There was even a small bottle of water and a bar of chocolate supplied in the bedroom. I may be back in Westport later on in the summer and if so will be looking to stay with Ruth if she has a room available.
Do you like waking up to a gorgeous looming mountain? Sitting near the warmth of a fire place after a day of roaming about? Enjoy quick banter with a knowledgeable local?

In the interest not gushing on further - This place is like home... and precious few places in the world are.
Staying with Ruth in Westport, Ireland was absolutely wonderful! She was incredibly helpful, even picking me up from the bus stop to bring me to her home. The room was well furnished, the bed was very comfortable, and I had no problems during my stay with her.
She has two bikes available for use, which were extremely helpful and fun to ride around town and to use as transportation to and from the home. The bikes were in good condition and made my stay extremely easy.
I highly recommend staying with Ruth when you visit Westport!
