Welcome to our newly remodeled abode! A quick 20-minute drive from the hustle and bustle of downtown Flagstaff, enjoy complete serenity, cozied within the pines. Our house is located on 3 acres right at the base of the Snowbowl ski resort, making it the ideal location for winter ski trips. Just a little over an hour from the Grand Canyon (only 3 stop signs!), adventure awaits year-round. Enjoy the wildlife (elk, many birds, etc), incredible stargazing, trails, and more.

The space
Located off the beaten path, this historic house was home to Lou Bader, a local figure of whom the neighborhood was named after, until his passing in 2008. At 350+ square feet, this private master suite with outdoor patio is a great home-base for all of your northern Arizona adventures. We also run a second Airbnb, and the two are connected by a door that remains locked at all times (it is keyed on both sides). If you are a larger group renting both units, let us know, and we can leave the door unlocked for you. While the suite is on ground level, note that there is a step inside the space and 2 steps at the entrance.

ENTRANCE: You will both park and enter around the back of the house. The entrance, a gate, has a keypad for an easy self-check-in process! Once through you will immediately see your own private, covered, outdoor patio with a gas grill plus an eating area. As you walk down further, you will see the sliding door to your private suite. Motion detector lights turn on at night as you approach the entrance gate and line the walkway to the sliding door.

BEDROOM W/ KITCHENETTE: As you enter through the sliding door with screen door, you will be in a large bedroom with a king-size bed and a memory foam mattress. Additionally, you’ll find a kitchenette and cozy eating area for two. The kitchenette includes a mini-fridge, microwave, toaster oven, coffee maker, hot plate, kettle, egg cooker, wine glasses, and other cooking utensils and cookery (no sink). It is great for very simple meals or heating food up, but not ideal for anything complex. Coffee and tea are provided, as well as a 2-gallon dispenser of reverse-osmosis alkaline water (which we will happily refill!). We have a flock of chickens in the backyard, so depending on availability, will provide complimentary eggs. The bedroom contains a 39” TV with access to Netflix, HBO, Hulu, Sling, and Amazon Prime, and blackout curtains allow for sleeping in. The door between the bedroom and main house remains locked at all times for complete privacy.

NOOK: Just off the bedroom, separated by a curtain, you will find a nook holding twin size bunk beds, both with memory foam mattresses. You will also find a full-size mirror and a corner rod with hangers.

BATHROOM: The bathroom contains double sinks and a spacious, glass wall shower (no tub). Toiletries, towels, and hairdryer are provided.

PARKING: We have plenty of space for parking. We have a designated parking area right by your entrance that easily fits two cars, but if you'll be arriving with an RV, Uhaul, or more than two cars, please let us know ahead of time and we will direct you to a different area of our land to park comfortably in.

CHICKENS: Find farm life fascinating? Feel free to check out our flock of backyard chickens! They are close to your entrance gate, and you drive right past them right before you park. While we don’t let guests inside their fenced run for safety (we have a mean rooster who attacks any human in sight), you can walk right up to the fence and watch them. Additionally, please do not feed them to protect their organic diet. Be careful not to stick your fingers in because the rooster will try and attack you through the fence. He’s one of the white ones, so be extra careful, especially with children!

OTHER BENEFITS: The room contains a few games. Extra linens and towels will be provided upon request. A mesh Wi-Fi system provides strong connectivity. If you need anything else, just let us know and we’ll do our best to accommodate!

OTHER CONSIDERATIONS:
NOISE: We do our best to keep noise to a minimum, and provide earplugs to help you sleep in! There is also a white noise machine in the unit that drowns out any noise and is great to sleep with. Note that we have 2 small dogs who enjoy barking. Our rooster usually starts crowing at sunrise, which is 5am in the summer. Additionally, we run a second Airbnb on the property and the two units share a wall.
AC: Like most of Flagstaff, there is no air conditioning. The house stays cool year-round (we regularly use the heater even in summer!). The room contains a space heater to help you regulate temperature. If the room does get a little warm, even with the ceiling and tower fans, the sliding door entrance contains a screen door to maintain a breeze.
LOCATION: The last half mile to our property is a maintained dirt road. Additionally, we get quite a bit of snow in the winter. The county paves the roads, but there may be up to a 12-hour delay between snowfall and paving. We highly recommend four-wheel drive in winter and any car that can handle dirt roads in summer. Keep in mind that we are a 20-minute drive from downtown Flag, and a vehicle is pretty much required unless you plan to use Uber or Lyft.
ACCESSIBILITY: Lastly, the space is not wheelchair accessible as there are two exterior steps and one inside the unit.

Guest access
Guests will have full access to the private bedroom with king size bed and kitchenette, nook with twin bunk beds, private en suite bathroom, and private outdoor patio. Guests are also welcome to walk around our 3-acre land.

Location

Flagstaff, Arizona, United States

Our rural, quiet, off-the-beaten-path neighborhood boasts fantastic views of the surrounding mountains, including Humphrey's, Aggasiz, A1 Mountain, and Wing Mountain. Elk regularly hang out in our backyard, many birds can be seen in the warmer months, and you may even spot the rare bald eagle or black bear. As most lots are 2+ acres, the neighborhood is very quiet and dark, allowing some of the best stargazing you've ever seen. Just down the street, find a gate that leads to 10+ miles of trails within the national forest for running or walking. Note that there is one small restaurant right at the edge of the neighborhood operated by the Snowbowl ski hill, and after that the nearest restaurants and grocery stores are located in downtown Flagstaff, which is a 20-minute drive away.

Hello! I live in Flagstaff, AZ and love to travel with my husband Shane when we can. I work from home full time as an analyst and am currently pursuing my MS in data science. I love to hike, snowboard, and practice yoga in my spare time. We have 2 small friendly dogs and a flock of chickens who are essentially our pets. Our latest adventure is that of parenthood as our daughter Nova was born January 2021!
