Ocean Beach or OB is a bohemian beach community that's unpretentious and fun-loving. It is one of the last quintessential California beach towns.
Awaiting your arrival is a sweet guest cottage affectionately named The French Quarter. It is located behind our main cottage which is less than 4 blocks to beach and 6 blocks to "downtown" OB. Private entrance to the modern vintage guest cottage and access to lush rear brick patio with hot tub, outdoor dining, gas grill. At about 220 square feet or 20.44 square meters, (yes, you read it right... it's SMALL!) cottage is comfortable for 2 guests and has a smaller environmental footprint! The bedroom doorway has curtain for some privacy from main room. Efficient kitchen has microwave, under-counter refrigerator, stove/oven, coffee makers (Keurig, French press, Italian stove-top espresso), cookwares and utensils for meals. Bedroom has queen-sized bed with very comfortable custom hand-made mattress and high thread-count sheets. Leather futon seating in main room folds down to a full-sized bed. Bathroom has enclosed shower. Beach towels, beach chairs, umbrella & coolers are provided for use during your stay. Air conditioning unit for the rare hot days. Space heater provided as needed. Cabled TV in livingroom and bedroom. Books and DVDs are available for your enjoyment. Strong WiFi signal inside and outside. Washer and dryer are located outside for convenient access. OB along with other communities is right under the San Diego airport flight path so you'll hear jet noise overhead between 630am and 1130pm. This is very bothersome for some people, especially at 630am, but not to others. We do provide earplugs in case you need them. Free street parking for your vehicles and steps to public bus stops.
We ask all guests 18 and older to sign and return a standard waiver for vacation rental. If you want to view the agreement before booking, we'll email it to you. We provide as much information as possible to help you decide if our retreat fits what you're looking for. We will provide suggestions for activities, restaurants, etc. at your request.
We hope you'll come and experience why OBceans love the colorful local characters and this special place by the sea. Peace and light to all!

Chuck was really nice, he walked us around the neighborhood for the best food, where to rent bicycles and so on.
Oh my goodness!! Chuck was SUCH a welcoming host. I was even given a lovely walking tour of Ocean Beach right when I arrived. What a difference that made! The space was super adorable and well tended. I would happily return to this adorable space.
Chuck was a great host, and his cottage was super cute. He showed us all around OB and gave us great advice on what to do around town. Everything in other people's reviews is accurate and I can't add much to that. I would highly recommend staying with Chuck and Helen. Thanks again for everything!
Chuck and Helens place is awesome. It is in the heart of Ocean Beach and a short walk to food, beaches, bars and only a short drive to the Gaslamp. The apt has all the amenities you could need and the hosts go above and beyond to make sure your stay is as pleasant as possible. Chuck gave us a tour of the town and was always available. Oh yeah, and there's a hot tub! Thanks Chuck and Helen.
My first experience with air b&b couldn't have been more successful a Helen and Chuck's cottage. From the beginning before I left Chicago for my trip, Chuck took the time to help me choose the easiest and less expensive route to the cottage from the airport via phone and through an online tool.
The place itself was a marvel to look at! My boyfriend and I were in aw about everything from the little welcome note to the snacks provided by the hosts and the comfiest bed we have ever slept on. We spent the new year in the hot tub, it was absolutely amazing! Chuck and Helen even surprised us with a bottle of champagne for new years! We got to know a bit more about our hosts. They are truly inspiring people who love to travel and understand the needs of a traveler as they proved during our stay in their cottage.
Everything we needed for a comfortable stay was inside the cottage and everything we needed for fun and entertainment was out in town. After our hosts made us feel welcomed, Chuck took us on a walking tour and pointed out Dog beach, the best restaurants in town, local coffee shops, bike paths, best sunset spots, local bars, and music entertainment. This is a gesture a hotel wouldn't provide. I did not have a single bad meal either.
We loved that all these activities were local. Even the locals that my boyfriend and I spoke with were outgoing and helpful people.
OUTSTANDING hosts and cottage- they deserve an applause
Hard to say anything beyond what has already been said, but in a nutshell - cozy, lovely accommodation where every detail about what guests might want has been thought of. Watching the stars at night in the jacuzzi is fantastic. Chuck is amazingly friendly and goes beyond expectations in hosting guests. Hard to imagine anyone giving less than perfect marks. Best Air B n B accommodation I've ever stayed at.
Chuck and Helen did a great job welcoming us. They are kind and friendly people. The place is small, as advertised, yet is comfortable just the same. The hot tub is a nice touch, and there's so much to do within walking distance.
