This get away is a few hundred feet from our private home on 22 acres of forested land . It sits in a small meadow. Parking will be allotted; do not park in meadow. Our family members are busy with our daily lives and come and go, although there is almost always someone here who can be helpful when you are in need. Common use of large, comfortable family living space, kitchen, laundry, sitting porch with stunning views, built in gas grille and hot tub. Wildlife Sanctuary. 12 mins to town.

The space
There is a family feel overall to our property, but we are quiet, personal space respecting people. Your camper location is out a bit from the main house and it is well contained and very private. You are welcome to use our common spaces and the various amenities that go with them. No light and noise pollution and nothing but wilderness beyond us for acres, will make your stay peaceful and your sleep restful.

We can accommodate a second person and two more if you are a family with a pre teens. In this case the table/desk/sitting area will be transformed into a double bed. If you are a couple you can also request the double bed set up.

Guest access
You may use the kitchen, bathroom dining and living room area in main house from 8:00AM to 9:00 PM. Self clean up is expected. For large meal preparation that requires extended cooking time and full use of kitchen please make reservations. Use of the hot tub, grill and main porch by reservation. Basic curtesy for others privacy and comfort apply.

Other things to note
Directions
The drive to our home has felt a little tricky to some people unfamiliar with the area. I have very detailed instructions on my website at https://www.alisonbarrowsyoung.com/directions .

Basically, if coming from the west, one drives past the Sandpoint exit on Hwy 95 and exits shortly there after on to Hwy 200. You follow Hwy 200 for a while without turning until you get to Colburn Culver Rd. Colburn Culver is indicated by a large blue recreation sign for Western Pleasure Guest Ranch and then a large brown National Forest sign for Grouse Creek Falls. Once on Colburn Culver you drive past three roads, French, Koich Offerman, Jacobson, when you pass Brunt Stump farm on the right your almost to Thimbleberry Lane. Turn right onto Thimbleberry Lane.

GPS gets you to that point quite well, however it errs on Thimbleberry. Once you drive past the fields and into the woods you will begin to go up the mountain on a curve, shortly there after it will flatten out and you will see that the road forks. You want to make a slight right, but GPS will say to go left. It’s really more like going straight but appears to be leaving the main road. After the fork there is an incline which passes through a woodsy ranch-like homestead on both sides of the road, then there is a steeper incline to our driveway which appears next on the left. There is a sign at the bottom of our drive for Barrows School of the Arts, ignore the no trespassing sign (that’s just an Idaho thing) and come on up to the house. Your parking spot and entrance to the house is around the back. We’ll come out and greet you and show you there and all around. :)

Our Furries
We have two dogs and two cats. They are friendly and the dogs love attention. Your room is off bounds for them and pet free.

Note: our little terrier dog, Little Bear, is quite yappy at first when people arrive. She’s very friendly and her enthusiasm denotes a desire for attention. I have dog treats for her and her sister, a large Shepherd looking dog, Blossom who is also friendly, one of those and a pat on the head will quiet them right down and then they’ll let us converse in peace :)

Access
The private road to our property is a bit rugged and AWD is a great idea although not absolutely necessary in summer. During winter months good snow tires and or chains are recommended.

Restrictions
The entire premisses is smoke free. No smoking in your room, our house or anywhere on our property.

No Fires.
No hunting.
No parties.

Location

Sandpoint, Idaho, United States

We are in North Sandpoint, Sandpoint proper and Hope ID (in the other direction) are only 12 minutes away. Are property sits above Selle Valley with spectacular views of Schweitzer Mountain and ski resort. We are on 22 acres of secluded, forest and have many amenities to make your stay with us notable in its own right, including a large wrap around porch furnished for a relaxing chat and nature watching, a hot tub, built in outdoor grille, beautiful natural gardens and hiking trails.

There are no end to the things to enjoy near us. In the valley just below us there are some interesting places to visit and many activities available. We are close to the Pack River for water sports, swimming, tubing and fishing. Oden’s Bay Beach on Lake Pend Oreille is open to the public, and very lovely. Western Pleasure ranch is close by with opportunities to ride horses and dine. Grouse Creek Falls, offers a beautiful hike to a gorgeous multi falls and a refreshing opportunity to wade and swim. In the winter we are an easy 12 minute drive to the Schweitzer Ski resort base where there is plenty of free parking and a free shuttle to the lifts.

The North has its own flavor of retired professors, farmers, survivalists, artists, musicians and home grown mountain folk. The Pack River Store is the hub of our community and is where to go close by for amazing food and local color. This remarkable neighborhood, general store serves up delicious food for large appetites created by a locally raised Cordon Bleu Chef along with basic groceries, beer, wine, snacks and wrigglers for fishing.

Hope and Clark Fork are near by for Historic sites, waterfront activities, trails and good eats! Ice House Artesian Pizza is a must with delicious Italian food and an absolutely spectacular view of Lake Pend Orielle.

Note: Our road and driveway as well as other access roads in this area are happier with AWD. During the Winter months and early Spring this is a must. In the throes of Winter you may wish to carry chains in your trunk.
