Casa Dos Angeles offers location, elegance, and comfort (and a very engaging host!).
Welcome to Casa Dos Angeles! Located on a private, gated cul-de-sac with only seven homes and 24-hour security, just steps from the Rosewood Hotel & 3 blocks from our Jardin, my two angels (the house name, of course!) greet you at the front door upon arrival, and they set the tone for the elegance you'll encounter within.
As an architect, I can tell you my home doesn't fit any one description--it's a cross between European elegance and Spanish Colonial comfort. This is probably not the home for a family of young children--your vacation abode is furnished with European antiques, Mexican stone, and eye-catching details, perfect for evening cocktails in the courtyard or intimate dinners beneath the candlelit chandelier.
Fireplaces warm the four-poster bedroom and enliven the grand living room, while French doors abound, allowing the entire home to flow seamlessly into the central, fountain-anchored courtyard. If you're ready for a holiday that you'll remember a lifetime, this is your temporary home!
I'll greet you personally upon your arrival, provide keys, and show your breakfast-stocked kitchen (I provide supplies for a couple morning's breakfast, then you provide the rest as you settle in). Casa Dos Angeles is also my home--my guests enjoy a private ground-floor en suite bedroom with separate entrance, able to be locked away from the rest of the residence for hotel-like privacy, while I live on the upper floors.
Your rental also includes use of the entire lower level: the massive central courtyard, living room with sofa-bed and powder bath, dining room, and the gorgeous kitchen. Although I must exit the house through the lower level living room when I come & go, I live upstairs with a breakfast bar, so your mornings are quiet--I only pass through the living room upon exit, and occasionally need to share only the kitchen with you midday or evening.
I've an astounding roof terrace that you may access upon request while I'm here, for rooftop dinner parties, an al fresco massage, or sunbathing with your favorite novel.
Interaction with Guests
It's important to know that I work--I'm a Realtor with a home office, so I may come and go throughout the day during high season and when work is done, I'm sequestered away upstairs relaxing. But I love being your host--I'll be here to greet you and get you acclimated to both your environment and our town, and enjoy hosting a Happy Hour at least once during your visit, if you care to join me.
I also write the social column for our local bilingual newspaper, so I tend to know of the social events in town and may leave you a note letting you know which events you might enjoy attending. In short, you'll see me as little as you like!
My neighborhood? Simply put in real estate terms, it is the most desirable location in all San Miguel de Allende, as reflected in the real estate values.
Why? It's because the Rosewood Hotel (ranked #1 in all Mexico 2 years running) is half a block away (replete with pool, gym & 4 restaurants at your disposal), our grand city park shares my back wall, and the hot-and-happening Jardin is a short 3-block stroll away, just far enough to make the church bells sound romantic rather than bothersome. Best yet, my private cul-de-sac is away from noisy traffic and our watchman makes you feel safe, secure & welcome.
There are very few, if any, rental homes in SMA with such security & privacy. Imagine living on Manhattan's upper east side a block from Central Park and the Guggenheim, and you'll imagine the Mexican equivalent here... without New York prices!
Your temporary home, Casa Dos Angeles, is a short stroll to, well, everywhere in our little village. A taxi is very seldom required, perhaps only after a long evening or for a dinner up the hill.
My in-room map (ask and I'll send it in advance) shows all the pools, gyms, spas, shops, restaurants, bars, ice cream and flower vendors within a 2-block walk of your front door--only major grocery shopping at our local CostCo owned super-store or a McDonald's fix (far removed from our UNESCO historic center) requires a taxi, which run just under $4 USD when you call for them to pick you up at your door. Taxis hailed in town (and yes, the 200 taxis here are abundant and safe in our little village) run barely over $2 USD for anywhere in Centro. For out-of-town tours, my info packet gives you the best recommendations for personal bilingual tour guides and drivers.
Other Things to Note
Your stay at Casa Dos Angeles can be as luxurious as a five-star hotel stay, primarily because there is one next door available for your enjoyment. My goal for you, however, is to connect with our village and our lifestyle--sorry, I don't currently indulge you with a TV, but there is WiFi in your room, of course, MagicJack long-distance phone service for your laptop, streaming music bedside, an iPod dock, and the most indulgent full-service kitchen available for cheerios or champagne-fueled five-course, chef-catered dinners--just ask!
House rules? Well, my new friends, I live & work here too, so there are some simple requests: no smoking, no pets, and please let's keep the Placido Domingo arias at low volume after, say, 11:00 (your headsets are welcomed!). Momma taught me good manners, and to turn the light off when I left a room, so I'd ask the same of you, nothing more.
Greg is a great host, very professional and caring, and the house is just amazing. He leaves enough stuff for two days breakfast that we did not even finished.
The compound is very central and we walked to the centre in less than 5 minutes. The apartment is just amazing, we had our own bedroom and beautiful bathroom that leads to a patio with a fountain and gorgeous plants where birds are coming to drink sometimes. You can even see colibris and are waken up to the beautiful bird songs.
You see Greg sometimes coming in and out but he is not intrusive, all the opposite, he is very helpful and has always good tips at hands. He could even recommend a great hairdresser to go to before the wedding we were attending!.
In summary: gorgeous place, safe, fully equipped. Very kind and helpful host and great location!
Our stay at Greg's home was everything promised in the listing. The home is beautifully decorated and furnished. Greg was a very helpful and gracious host. He readily answered our questions and gave excellent recommendations for restaurants. The home is located in a quiet neighborhood with easy access to the Jardin as well as the Casona. This was our first airbnb experience and we were pleased. Thanks Greg for making our visit to San Miguel memorable.
Staying at Greg's place on Aldama in SMA was a wonderful experience. He was was there to meet me at the gate when I arrived from Mexico City, and was very welcoming, full of great information, and recommendations - from dining choices to shopping. The house and accommodations are drop dead gorgeous, (being an interiors photographer I know about this stuff.) I felt safe in the neighborhood, and "my home away from home", the Rosewood, was literally right around the corner. I had great stay here and Greg is a most gracious host. I landed well here in San Miguel and stayed for 3 and a half weeks. Its a wonderful, beautiful, comfortable place. The bed was very comfortable, kitchen well stocked, and location cant be beat. Love, love, loved it!
My partner and I had a lovely stay at Casa Dos Angeles. From the moment we made our reservation, Greg was in touch with all the information we needed to make the most of our time in San Miguel.
The house is beautifully decorated, the bed totally luxurious and the best, softest towels I've ever had in all my years traveling around Mexico.
Greg is a great host with lots of suggestions for things to do. Casa Dos Angeles is only a short walk to the central plaza, and there are dozens of cafés, restaurantes, bars, shops and galleries along the way.
I would highly recommend staying with Greg, it really is the perfect home away from home.
We had such a great time in San Miguel de Allende. Gregory was friendly and accessible without ever being intrusive. The room is centrally located, just a short walk from the plaza. There is generous access to the kitchen and a lovely courtyard to relax in. Just a perfect retreat,
Casa Dos Angeles is for sure a dream mansion, a cross from old world Spanish & Tuscan architecture. Walking distance to everything. In fact me & my wife never needed a taxi. Private accomodadations by entering directly into room from entryway. If you need more space you have the kitchen & a gigantic living room w/fireplace. Which we used for breakfast & also allowing a couple of friends to sleepover for a night, for a mere extra $20. If you need wine he's got it for you x $10, world class. Also he has you set up w/breafast & more for a couple of days. You never see him, but when you do, it's a pleasure, the kind of guy anyone can say after one visit he's not just a host but an instant friend! My wife already said if we go back we must stay @ Gunther's or por los Latino's Goyo's place! Two thumbs up all the way.
It's hard to even know where to begin... everything was so amazing! We arrived late and soaked from the rain, and Greg greeted us with perfect hospitality. The lounge room and private courtyard were delightful, the kitchen was enormous and well-stocked, and as for the bedroom - it could have come straight out of a palace. Greg went out of his way to make us comfortable, and as well as being stunning and immaculately clean, the place is perfectly located -- five minutes walk from everything that beautiful San Miguel has to offer. Really, really can't recommend Greg's place enough, it was one of the best airbnb experiences I've had so far!
Hi, AirBnB Guests!
In the internet age, it's easy to check out your potential hosts on affiliated sites or About Me (check out my profile there, it's full of easy hot-links to see more about me), but let's get acquainted here first!
When my AARP membership kicked in (just over five years now), I became a full-time expat in the Conde Nast Traveler-ranked Number One City in the World, which happens to also be a UNESCO World Heritage Site, like Florence, Italy. If your visit here is simply for some experience-rich R&R, I'm great at offering suggestions and pointing out the hot spots in town (I'm the social columnist for our local bilingual newspaper, so I get out once in a while!), but if you're here to explore San Miguel as a potential home, I'm an expert. I'm a top Realtor here--originally trained as an architect in undergrad--a Mexican business owner, a published novelist, have built a home here, and can share everything you might wish to know about life in Mexico.
I'm also an Italophile--perhaps I was Italian in another life?--and my home is very European in style. I love the indoor-outdoor lifestyle our weather here encourages, and you'll find my home flows seamlessly with the outdoors--the French doors at the foot of your bed open directly into your fountain-anchored courtyard in the main photo.
You'll see from the home description that I work full time and am in-and-out with appointments or sequestered away in my upstairs office, but I certainly enjoy playing the role of host--plan on a Happy Hour that I host here during your stay so we can chat! And remember, your living quarters here are also perfect for hosting a dinner party with new-found friends--I'm happy to provide resources to maximize your enjoyment, from groceries & catering, to in-home massage services or personal tour guides.
I'm thrilled to welcome you to San Miguel, and to Casa Dos Angeles!
