A clean, quiet & private space with a large, comfy bed. Private bathroom just down the stairs, upstairs balcony, tv & wifi available. Surrounded by big gardens & nature reserve with close proximity to town, beaches & cafes.
Fully furnished room with large bed, wardrobes and private eastward facing upstairs balcony. Private bathroom just down the stairs. The room is open, airy, has a TV and a fan in summer. Ten minutes walk from Byron CBD and to beaches. Very quiet and peaceful. Wireless included.
The room is upstairs and is clean and private and also has shelf space.
Safe parking on the property. Just myself, the host, living here unless the second bedroom is booked.
There are beaches just across the road and a 7/11 /cafe around the corner. Buses go regularly from the the corner of the street and the neighbourhood is also very quiet and safe.
The private upstairs verandah would be very suitable for yoga practice or morning coffee.
There is access to a washing machine and washing line. The house is very open plan, light and private with extensive land and gardens surrounding it.
Breakfast can be provided if organised but otherwise use of the kitchen is limited to cuppa's & the fridge is small but milk will be available.
The Cumbebin Nature Reserve runs arounds two sides of the house and one often sees wallabies, echida, bandicoots and a diverse variety of native birds.
For those who are not into cats or have cat allergies please check out the other room I have listed, which would be more suitable, it's a 'cat free zone'! :) I have three very lazy cats who keep to themselves but not suitable for someone with allergies. The other room listed is more private and the main door is always closed so the cats never go in there.
I prefer to take bookings for one person only, thank you!
Guests will have their own key to come and go as they please
Interaction with Guests
I live in the house but often at work. Guests can have as much privacy as they need & will have a key to come & go.
The street is a cul de sac so it's safe, quiet & friendly. The house backs onto a nature reserve so wallabies, possums, birds, lizards & even a koala can be seen.
It is five minutes walk across the road to Tallows Beach. There is a very popular cafe called The Roadhouse Cafe a few minutes walk away & a milk bar the same distance in the opposite direction.
Buses go from the end of the street & the house is within walking distance of Byron CBD, beaches & cafes.
The airport shuttle will do pick ups to & from the house.

I have three cats so no other pets are allowed.

The environment is important to me so where possible 5 - 7 minute showers and awareness about use of of power is appreciated.
I stayed for over a week and I really enjoyed it. If you love cats and nature than this place is perfect for you. I could hear a Koala calling not far from my window and I also enjoyed the short way to the beach. Deborah is a caring host and I felt welcome. Thank you.
Place was really lovely and the surrounds were so peaceful.
My first experience with Airbnb so was not sure what to expect. The house and gardens are lovely but compared to staying in an official guest house the hospitality and services are secondary to your average experience. I couldn't help but feel I was intruding and could not really relax. No offer to make myself at home or to make a cup of tea were given. I think a kettle and tea/coffee provisions could have been put in the room if the host does not want guests in the kitchen. On the positive side the place was quiet and Deborah a decent person. Chocolates left on the bed are a nice surprise; perhaps because it was Easter? She was accommodating on arrival/departure times and showed great trust. If all you need is a bed then it serves the purpose.
Wow that's a shock, Sharon you didn't ask if you could use the kitchen, you could have if you'd asked and made tea. It was Easter and I had other guests, I just didn't have time for really long conversations, although we did seem to have a few of those. It was an overnight stay, I really am quite shocked and obviously read that situation incorrectly! My apologies!
I stayed at Deb’s place for a week and was greeted with a box of chocolates and fresh fruit in my room. The room is exactly how it is described and captured in the description. Deb was lovely and accommodating and reiterated the house rules upon check in, house rules were appropriate considering this is Deb’s home. Deb’s home is beautiful and exactly what I was after in Byron Bay. It was a 3 minute drive into the centre of Byron Bay but still offered a serene and tranquil space to come home too. The balcony in the room looks out onto the rainforest which was a beautiful way to wake up in the morning. The three cats were an added bonus and if I am ever after accommodation in Byron Bay again I will be contacting Deb.
I always try to be kind in my reviews so I'm shocked when someone who pretty much used my house as a hotel and me as some kind of servant leaves me such a review. I think sometimes people don't understand that it's a home not a hotel. I had two guests at this time, one was the perfect guest and Brigitte I found challenging. It is the guests own business if from the moment the guest arrives, they are obsessed with the bus driver and come back very late at night and that's really all they can talk about, that's fine, what's not fine is the mess the room was in and the unhygenic and distasteful items I had to clean from the bathroom basket. I asked a couple of times if I could go through Brigitte's room to the verandah to sweep, water plants etc, which Brigitte said was ok.
There are actually very few 'rules' and my experience with guests is that normally I only have to say them once, if at all, but that was not the case in this instance, which I had put down to language issues.
I totally enjoy most of my guests, I have one who just left and was here when Brigitte was here, who was gorgeous and the one I currently have is also lovely. As my son says, one cannot have a 100% success rate but it leaves a bad taste!
Deborah was a hero, she sorted me out very last minute. Lovely clean home, great for a quiet nights sleep!
A little piece of paradise amidst the rainforest yet only a few minutes drive from Byron Bay. A welcoming host and comfortable room (chocolates a lovely touch) as well as three friendly cats make for a good rest stop either en route to elsewhere or to enjoy the area. Loved being woken in the morning by the (to me) unfamiliar sounds of the birds and animals in the forests around. Thanks Deborah. If I am every back this way again I will be booking in again!

I am looking forward to welcome you in the near future!
I am a youth worker and have worked for Byron Youth Service for fifteen years. I work with young people who are experiencing difficulty in one or more areas of their lives and also do lots of fun and creative projects with them.
I have two grown up kids and a 3 young grandsons. My son, his partner and grandsons live in Ballina and sometimes call in with their little family.
My other great love is wildlife photography and I spend a lot of time in the wetlands, estuaries and beaches. You can see my photography on my website (website hidden)
I also love travelling overseas (I love Asia, I lived there for some years and have kept returning). I also love wildlife photography, reading, gardening, movies and seeing my longterm friends. At home I lead a quiet and peaceful life since my worklife is quite hectic.
The house is surrounded by gardens and a wetlands so there are lots of visitors such as wallabies, echidnas, possums, a huge variety of birds and if you're lucky you'll see the resident Koala Bear.
I also have three very lazy cats who keep to themselves. Anyone with allergies would need to rent the 'ensuite room', which is always kept cat free. It also has tea making facilities in the room.
Generally I prefer to have single people as guests, my work life is very busy and my home life very quiet so one guest works best for me.
