If you want to get away from it all come to Cape House in the Daintree Rainforest where we have a room with 180 degree panoramic views to the Coral Sea and Port Douglas across the mouth of the Daintree river.
Set in 150 acres of forest you can just relax or take the opportunity to visit some many local attractions around the Daintree/Cape Tribulation area, or take a trip to the Great Barrier Reef from Port Douglas.
The house is Thai inspired and makes the most of the local climate. The room has a queen size bed and its own large bathroom. There is plenty of fridge space in the kitchen if you want to do your own thing or we can provide breakfast. We have wireless internet and phone available for local calls.
There is a fruit orchard as well as a vegie patch and when possible we eat from the garden. The house is self sufficient in water and energy supplies (solar, hydro and wind) and would certainly suit anyone who is eco conscious.
We have our own forest walk with a creek, waterfalls and swimming holes.
The house is open to the forest and this means a certain amount of wildlife might at times be around. micro bats, frogs, beetles and other amazing insects depending on the season. The climate is normally around 26 to 32 degrees C in the summer and 20 to 28 degrees C in winter. It occasionally gets down to 16C overnight in winter(definitely doona time).
Located 10 minutes north of the Daintree river ferry which is approximately 90 minute drive from Cairns International airport. this is an ideal spot to explore the Daintree area and the worlds oldest rainforest. Cape Kimberley beach which is mostly deserted is only 2.5Kms, and there are plenty of river boats to take you on a variety of sight seeing tours on the Daintree river. There is good trail riding, and an excellent rainforest discovery centre. For those who are adventurous I recommend jungle surfing but otherwise just come and relax..

We had a wonderful stay here in May 2013. Unfortunately the weather could have been better but the location, experience and welcome we received was second to none.
The house is remote and the location is wonderful and will meet all your expectations. Tony and Linda were wonderful hosts and made us feel very welcome.
We enjoyed eating our meals with Tony and Linda and we were fed very well indeed!
Hopefully one day we will be back.
I can only describe this as the most amazing place to stay. The photos of the house are lovely but the real thing is even better. The house is beautifully furnished, clean and amazingly cool even when it is hot outside. The location is spectacular, you can spend hours watching the world go by, either the views from your bedroom window or the veranda. It is a great location to explore the rainforest and Cape Tribulation. Tony and Linda were generous hosts, whether sharing meals or spending time suggesting trips to make the most of our time in the Daintree. We spent our evenings over shared meals and talked like old friends. Tony and Linda are the sort of hosts that like to make you feel at home but are equally conscious of giving you space to enjoy your holiday. Having not heard of airbnb until a couple of months ago we hope that other accommodation and hosts are half a good as this. April 2013
Everything is just as you see it in the photos, a truly wonderful place to get away from everything. Wakeup in the morning with the birds, enjoy fabulous views, and at your leisure enjoy the beautiful beaches in the area. Tony and Linda are very gracious hosts, we enjoyed their company and shared lovely meals together outside under the stars. We would definitely recommend staying here.
This was by far the most amazing AIrbnb we have ever stayed at. The home and property are breathtaking. Your room completely opens up to the outdoors, overlooking the jungle canopy. It was quite and experience waking up to such a view. Linda was a wonderful host and can cook a mean Osso Buco! If we go to Australia again, we will go out of our way to stay with Linda and Tony again.
Tony and Linda are very friendly, open-minded, sensitive, and considerate hosts with a wonderful home - actually THE perfect location for a peaceful and close-to-nature stay! We enjoyed the morning view over the rainforest and across the bay to Port Douglas, having been woken up by the forest birds. The house is absolutely amazing, perfectly designed for the rainforest climate and offers a lot of private space for visitors. Every day we had our breakfast on the deck in the morning sun. During the day we relaxed on the porch, watching the cockatoos fly over the tree-tops, reading and learning from interesting books and magazines offered by our hosts on rainforest issues. We also explored the Daintree Forest, went on a Daintree River croc tour, long walks on beautiful secluded beaches or learned about the history of the rainforest on self-explanatory boardwalks. In the evenings we enjoyed cooking together with Tony and Linda surprising one another with interesting and delicious recipies from Germany and Australia. The days ended late after long and engaged discussions on various subjects over a glass of excellent red wine. What a place to be!
We can certainly recommend a stay in the Capehouse and hope to be able to come back again some time in the future.

Amazing find!!! We recommend visiting Cape Trib, we recommend making it more than a day trip, and we certainly recommend staying with Tony & Linda. The house/property/views are great (you are right in the middle of rainforest) and our hosts were very kind and generous.
We had a wonderful experience staying with Tony and Linda at Daintree Rainforest Retreat. They are such hospitable hosts and I would recommend it as a MUST DO if you wish to visit the Daintree. Spend some time there too as there are many activities in the local area or you may want to just relax.
The room is absolutely beautiful and has incredible views over the forest down to the ocean and mouth of the Daintree river. It was spectacular. Cape Kimberley beach is 2.5km from the home and is stunning. We practically had it to ourselves!
The meals were also delicious. Thank you very much Tony and Linda we will definitely be back. Julie and Sen
My husband and I spent 4 nights at this beautiful residence, which we shared with Tony and Lin and their daughter Ruby, dog Charlie, and cat Eric. We had a wonderful time. While it was raining in Sydney, the weather in the Daintree in June was sunny and 25 degrees every day. We spent one day horseriding on the Atherton Tableland, one day travelling up the coast to a live music venue and another day at the beach.
The residence itself is open and airy, with fabulous views over the rainforest, the ocean and the Daintree river. The house is open to the views from every room, with a truly indoor / outdoor feel. It is nestled in the rainforest, and is a great place to get away from the bustle of the city.
We shared meals with the family, and I can highly recommend Lin's cooking. Every meal was decicious.
Overall, this is an excellent destination, and we will certainly be returning.
