Located in one of Victoria's oldest buildings, this Chinatown loft has beautiful windows, original hardwood floors and skylights.
A creative alternative, stay in this local designer's space and experience what it's really like to live in the heart of Victoria.

This space is sparsely beautiful, ideally located and has amazing windows that let in a lot of light. It's kind of a dream apartment. There are no mirrors (I picked one up in Chinatown) and the open wireless connection means it's not the ideal spot for catching up confidential email (leave your work behind - you're on vacation!), but the art and people watching will inspire and entertain you.
Tara's space was beautiful (everything I expected it to be, with amazing artwork and gorgeous fresh flowers )and in a prime location. She was very friendly and provided us will great suggestions for getting food and drinks in the area. The loft was clean and inviting. The bed was comfortable, too! We had a great stay.
This place felt incredibly overpriced for what it was.
Positives: Close to downtown, comfortable mattress, large space, very bright and sunny, and responsive host.
HOWEVER, it felt dirty, the promised wifi didn't work and we're pretty sure it wasn't even her own network, seagulls woke us up and kept us up at all hours of the night thanks to thin walls and windows, it was lacking basic furnishings like a mirror or window coverings, it did not have window screens, we were incredibly warm during our stay, a dog lives there so be warned if you have allergy issues, the fridge was filthy and filled with food in varying states of decay, the neighbors were loud and threw a party until 4am during our stay, and the shower looked dirty.
First-time visit to Victoria served as an excellent surprise birthday trip for my wife. Tara's apartment played a big role in making the weekend so great - it is a very well designed loft that serves as a great refuge for people who care about the aesthetics of their lodging.
The location was incredible as well. Far enough from the tourest swarms further south, but still close to some excellent food and shopping.
Tara was responsive to text messages during our stay and was overall very welcoming and helpful.
Tara's loft in Chinatown is charming and beautifully furnished and is close enough to everything to please my "practical" mother.
We really enjoyed staying in Tara's loft. It's as beautiful as shown in the pictures and very convenient. We had the pleasure of meeting Tara, and she was wonderful to work with. The space was perfect for us!
Just a heads up for those with a morning getting-ready ritual, the central sink in her place is in the kitchen so you may want to bring a small mirror.
It was lovely to stay in Tara's chinatown loft. It's truly in the heart of the city, with wonderful fruit and vegetable markets and a beautiful tea store close by, the Inner Harbour within walking distance, and book stores always reachable within minutes! Her place is absolutely charming, with the smell of honey buns wafting upstairs, and the sound of seagulls coming in the windows. The place has huge front windows that pour sunlight inside through the day, and if that weren't enough light, there are also skylights in the ceiling. Tara was always available even though she was travelling in New York at the time, and she had also been thoughtful to have a friend close by so that if there were any concerns or troubles, she was available to help solve your problems. She also left me ground coffee which was very sweet!
I would highly recommend staying at Tara's beautiful place!
