Glamp in the forest- you know you've always wanted to! Our canvas bell tent sits atop a redwood deck in a lovely forest setting, surrounded by mature fir trees, young cedars, rhododendrons, huckleberry and ferns. Private outdoor hot water shower and clean composting toilet are exclusively for guest use. Perfect for adventurers exploring the redwoods, individuals seeking a quiet getaway and travelers who forgot to book a room for the night. We have a unique and special place we love to share!

The space
Nestled in the Smith River National Recreation Area, our property consists of 1.6 acres of land directly off Hwy 199 in Gasquet, Ca. We have one close neighbor and our property borders the highway. Our backyard is miles and miles of wilderness which can give our place some serious rural vibes, however the echoes from the hwy remind us of it's close proximity and the convenience it brings.
We are located less than 1/4 mile from a fantastic swimming hole on the majestic Smith River, just 10 miles north of Jedediah Smith State Park and 24 miles from the breathtaking coast. For any last minute essentials, ice and fuel we have two local markets just minutes away.
Our year-round creek with foot bridge separates our home and living area from our guests' space. The 171 square foot Sibley 450 Pro-Tech tent is just barely visible from our front door and sits on top of a newly built 16' x 20' salvaged old growth redwood deck. Roll up the side walls for a 360 degree private view of the forest around you- the no-see-um screen provides ventilation and necessary bug protection.
Accommodations inside the tent include a comfortable queen bed, warm blankets and simple furnishings.
A newly added 12' x 12' salvaged old growth redwood deck with roof (photos to come) provides a comfortable place to hang out as well as a simple outdoor kitchen space.
For those who plan to prepare and cook meals during their stay, we provide an ice chest, a Coleman 2-burner propane camp stove (propane provided), a table for food prep, dinnerware and cutlery, a knife, cutting board, can opener, drinking cups, coffee mugs, a coffee pour over, two pans and a pot. Near the outdoor shower is a simple outdoor wash station (dish soap, drying rack and towels included).

Important Information:
-As much as we all love a good campfire, open flames will NOT be allowed due to high risk of wild fires.
-You may be greeted by our friendly chickens and vocal rooster who free range our property most days.
-Because we share our forests with other living creatures, our guests will be required to deliver all garbage to designated receptacle each evening as well as store all foods in a locked container (provided) overnight.
-Groups larger than 2 please inquire- we may provide an additional camp pad / vinyl tent / etc. for an additional fee.

Where you’ll be

Gasquet, California, United States

One of our favorite things about our location is our ability to walk to the Smith River. We are within miles of many excellent swimming holes. When we feel the need to hug some redwood trees we drive 10 or so miles to any one of Jed Smith Redwoods State Park's hiking trails. Some days we crave the fresh, local coastal breeze so we make the 16 mile drive to the ocean!

We are both adventurous . We love learning and being exposed to new things, foods, cultures, people and experiences. We love the outdoors, the beach and especially the river; just generally being outside makes us happy and we will find any excuse to do so. Because of this inclination we are extremely happy in the Redwoods of Del Norte County. We love hosting. We work from home. We love growing our own food and though we are not great at it, we are getting better with each season. We have a flock of chickens and a rooster, and if you are staying with us at our Gasquet location, you will most likely be aware of their presence. One of us loves homebrewing and Jiu Jitsu while the other loves live music, herbalism and cooking. We have a daughter who loves swimming, making art, her chickens, meeting new people and her cousin, MoMo. The fourth leg of our family is Alux (uh-loosh); she is a beautiful deer head chihuahua who is generally timid but likes to make her presence known when she sees/hears people she doesn't know. She's harmless with a strong flight response from literally everything. We look forward very much to our travels through Airbnb and potentially even hosting you! With us as guests and hosts you can expect happiness, cleanliness, a genuine openness to new experiences and an eagerness to meet new people. We appreciate those who open their doors through this site. The alternatives (hotels) can be cringeworthy: sterile, bland, lifeless, expensive. Cheers! We can't wait to meet you.
