The accommodation is perfect for a family providing space to breathe and relax. The room can accommodate 3 adults or a couple and 2 children. We have a lovely green right in front of the house which is great for cycling as well as a back garden where your children can play.
Guests will have access to a large private sitting room with TV as well as a spacious garden. If you are staying 2 nights I am happy to put a wash on for you. Otherwise I charge 5 euro to cover the cost of the dryer.
Interaction with Guests
This depends on you. A cup of tea/coffee will await you on your arrival and you are welcome to make tea/coffee during the day. I have lots of information on places to go and specialise in days out to keep young families happy!
Ballyfoyle is just 6km outside the fantastic medieval city of Kilkenny which has more than enough to keep you amused day and night. Its also just 3km from the magical Dunmore Caves or the beautiful woods of Jenkinstown. Further along the way (about 5km) there are lovely walks in the Castlecomer Discovery park or you could just head out the road here for some spectacular views of the countryside.
You will need your own transport to get in and out of Kilkenny but a taxi service is available. If I am going into town I am happy to bring you with me.
Other Things to Note
I have a very quiet dog but he can be kept out of the way.
No smoking please inside the house.
Great stay! We had a short stopover and Yvonne and her family we're very welcoming. Offered guides to Dublin and had some good recommendations for places to eat. They're home is just a short drive to Kilkenny. Wish we could have stayed longer.
Hello Yvonne and Reg and kids.
What a wonderful family you have. It was a pleasure staying with you in your beautiful house and getting to know you in the short time we were there. Everything was great and you were both so helpful. Erin and I would love to come back to Ballyfoyle someday to visit. We would highly recommend anyone looking for B&B accommodations in the Kilkenny, IE. area that they try to stay with you. All the best, Wayne and Erin.
Yvonne and her family made us fell very welcome. Her directions were very accurate. Very clean and comfortable, great breakfast and she even put a load of washing through for us. Fantastic scones and tea on arrival were just what we needed after a day of exploring. Highly recommended.
Yvonne, Reg and their lovely children were fantastic hosts. Communication and directions prior to our arrival was spot on. It was so pleasing to see Kilkenny from a different perspective. Yvonne and Reg had many food and pub suggestions, all of which were fantastic. The rooms were spacious and clean, and the breakfast was amazing. We could not speak any higher of this beautiful family. We wish we could have stayed longer. It made our Kilkenny experience all the more special.
Thank you Sara. We really loved having the 3 of you and would love you to have stayed for longer. Next time? I hope Johnny Foxes lived up to its expectations and delivered a memorable night for you to put alongside you memories of Kilkenny's Hole in the Wall. Take care
Such a homely experience! Beautiful large room with private bathroom and sitting room if required. Yvonne was an incredible host - most appreciated! Would highly recommend!!
Our second night was just as great as our first. Yvonne was very helpful in finding resources for us! We would definitely recommend this accommodation!
Yvonne and her children were delightful (we happened to be there when her husband was out of town so we didn't get to meet him unfortunately) and the rooms were very comfortable. Yvonne put out so much food in the mornings, along with fresh delicious coffee, that we (family of four) could barely make a dent in it! Yvonne went out of her way to be very, very helpful with information and directions, etc; we felt super-well taken care of! But even more than that, we appreciated her genuine manner of interacting with us; we felt as though we were staying with family. We would love to go back and stay with them again!
Thank you Carolyn. You are such a lovely family, I actually felt like it was like having my family to stay too! I really hope you enjoyed your stay in Ireland and you are very welcome back to Ballyfoyle anytime. Reg really regrets not being around but our kids have told him all about you. It was a real adventure for them. Have a safe flight home.
Reg and I are in our early forties and moved to Kilkenny from the UK over a year ago. I am Irish, originally from Dublin but spent 20 years working in the UK. We have two children and moved home so our children could enjoy living in this glorious countryside. One year on I still don't take the sunsets or sunrises here for granted. Having travelled around the world in our twenties, we know how important people are to the experience of travelling and having two young children we also want others holidaying with children to feel right at home here and most importantly relaxed.
