Cozy elegance in a modern refurbished Milk House Cottage surrounded by gardens with an attached private patio and convenient self-check in keypad. Located within a Quaker & Old-World Amish area. Our country oasis has a cascading valley and big skies views, amid embracing seasonal gardens. Close to southeast Ohio's recreation, hiking, dining, history, and loads of serenity. The Milk House Cottage is a great venue to just unwind. A favorite venue for a friend's getaway or special occasion.

The space
The cottage sits in the Village of Chesterhill and in the heart of an "old world" Amish community. You stroll through the garden along a stone path to "your" private cottage patio setting. The entrance is your first impression of the creative architecture of small cottage living while affording our guests with plenty of space, cozy comfort and décor for their stay.

The Milk House Cottage has been totally redesigned into a beautifully modern space equipped with a quiet Mitsubishi mini-split heating & AC with iwave pure clean air technology, village filtered water, a non-cooking kitchenette area in the interior porch sitting area.

The bedroom includes a well-lit cathedral clear story with ceiling fans with two XL twin beds. The entire space is designed to be a quiet and relaxing environment. The modern full bathroom includes a heated floor.

Along with the cottage, we encourage our guests to enjoy other aspects of the property, gardens and scenic deck. Take a stroll on the property, stargaze at night or just relax.

Guest access
In addition to having full privacy in the cottage and adjacent patio, we have beautiful common area's including an open deck looking into the scenic valley, a portion of the property to take a stroll. Garden chairs are located under a shade tree. Nap anyone?

Other things to note
Our local farm to table restaurant, Triple Nickel Diner is open on Wednesday- Sunday (summer hours). Ron's Convenience store has great pizza's and sandwiches, open Monday-Saturday. There are three gas stations (Sharpsburg, Stockport, Bartlett) within an eight-mile radius of the village. A full listing of local amenities is provided in our guestbook.

Neighborhood highlights

A touch of rural America with modern conveniences within close distance to Athens and Morgan county activities, Chesterhill is a small village with under 300 folks established in 1834.

Food & Beverage-
Our Milk House Cottage is within walking distance of the downtown area including a 1/4 mile walking track. The Triple Nickel Diner is in the village. They are known for their delicious locally sourced meals, famous home baked pies along with adult beverages.

Also located downtown is Ron’s Convenience Store serving take-out pizza, burgers, and adult beverages.

Chesterhill Produce Auction-
Within a two-mile drive is the home of the Chesterhill Produce Auction offering weekly auctions Monday/Thursday at 4pm. (April-October) of produce, livestock and plants. They also have a County Store full of locally made Amish products (baked goods, rugs, egg noodles, maple syrup, honey, soaps and more located at the auction.)

Hiking Trails/ Motorcycle Rides-
For hikers there are many trails at Burr Oak, The Buckeye Trail / North County Scenic Byway, The Bailey, and American Discovery Trail (hiking trails) and historic Henman Cave is located on Henman Rd. This is adjacent to our property and SR 555 or Mill Street (aka Triple Nickel). It is also known to be one of the best motorcycles and biking routes within the state. People have traveled from all over the country to ride on it.

Union Hall Theater/ Multicultural Genealogical Center-
In the village is the Kate Love Simpson Library and above it is the historic Union Hall Theater (est. 1908) still providing live music shows several times a year. The Multicultural Genealogical Center is located next to the library.

Emergency medical services are available 7-24-365 at the Chesterhill Voluntary Fire Department located within the village.

My husband, Ken and I left the city years ago and have embraced county life for over 19 years. We are two creative souls who transformed an old farm site into something special which we call Feather Hollow. This is our life, our Shangri-La. We are excited to share our cottage & gardens on our 12-acre property along with the local area with guests. It is a scenic 25 minute drive from Athens. We look forward to meeting you.
