Our 3B/2Bth house comfortably accommodates up to 6 people.The three bedrooms include a queen, a full and a trundle bed that rolls out to be two twins. The master bedroom has an adjoining bathroom with shower, the other rooms share a bathroom with a bath/shower. The house has been recently remodeled with a new well-equipped kitchen and expansive living area with plenty of seating/reading areas and a flat screen TV with iPod dock/DVD/CD receiver. Wi-fi connections for high-speed internet access. Backyard deck looks out on to the common woods around Timberland with a BBQ and patio area once snow melts away. Horseshoe pits on the side.
Place is kid-friendly - one story with only a couple steps to navigate in the entire house.Pack and Play available - one less thing to pack.
We pride ourselves on having a nice, tasteful place tucked in peaceful woods. Morning walks on the quiet streets then cozy up to the two gas fireplaces as a slight chill envelopes the evening. Tranquility and convenience!

Great central West Shore location with lots of options. Timberland is an historic small set of homes plopped right in the middle of the Tahoe Forest surrounded by some hundred year old trees - the quietest nights you'll ever have on the West Shore and a short 3 miles to all the activities at Tahoe City. We are also steps away from Ward Creek Park with a number of running, biking, exploring trials - a great introduction to nature of the little ones or instant rejuvenation with your morning coffee stroll.
As it warms up, lakeside is a great place to be. Walk down the street to Hurricane Bay, a convenient pebbly beach with great vistas. Or drive 3 miles to the beautiful sandy shores of Chambers Landing or a bit further to stunning Meek's Bay. The buzzing outdoor deck of Sunnyside can be reached through a 15 minutes walk through the forest or drive in less than a couple minutes.
Right down the block is the recently renovated Rideout Community Center - indoor basketball courts, kids play room packed with playsets, foozball, air-hockey and more. $2/day and your kid can have fun even on a cold, wet day. When it's sunny, there's a new outdoor play structure/swings, outdoor basketball hoops and a huge soccer field for running around in.
In winter, we are less than 5 minutes from Homewood and 15-20 minutes from Alpine and Squaw, For the non-skiers, snow-shoeing in Ward Creek Park is just a few steps away.
1- Renters agree to follow the house instructions and will be held financially accountable for any damages or misuse of the property.
2- The security deposit will be refunded within 48 hours of departure once the property is inspected finding no damages to report and the home is in the same condition it was when received aside from regular cleaning. If there are damages to report, they will be communicated along with expenses charged. If damages exceed the security deposit fee, the above named will be held financially responsible for them.
3- All rental fee sales are final. Refunds will not be given in the case of undesirable weather. Loss of power, gas or water supply may occur, and a refund will not be granted for such an event. Occupants should be prepared with the proper emergency supplies in case of loss of power, gas, or water. Internet connection is not guaranteed.
4- Check in time is 4:00 pm. Check out is 11:00 am (unless otherwise stated). Guests failing to abide by these times will be assessed a charge of one night’s rent.
5- Guests agree that no more than 6 people will make use of the vacation home. Any guest that exceeds that number without prior written consent from the owner will forfeit the whole security deposit and is aware the reservation can be terminated at any time without any refunds given.
6- Children under 18 years of age must be supervised by an adult at all times.
7- Pets are not allowed unless explicitly authorized by the owners. Any guest that brings a pet without prior written consent from the owner will forfeit the whole security deposit and is aware the reservation can be terminated at any time without any refunds given.
8- No campers, RV’s, tents, or trailers are allowed on premises of vacation homes.
9- All homes are completely furnished with sheets and bathing towels, basic kitchen supplies, deck furniture and propane grill (not available during the winter).
10- Guests agree to indemnify and hold harmless the owner of the vacation home and their agents from any loss or personal injury suffered by vacationer or his or her guests or invitees in relation to the rental of the vacation home. Guest shall immediately inform the owners upon learning of any unsafe or hazardous conditions.
11- PLEASE BE BEAR AWARE!! Tahoe is bear country. Make sure not to leave food in your car or in the garage. Use the brown metal bear box to dispose of all trash. Make sure to close all windows and doors when leaving the house unattended or at night.
12- THE OWNERS WILL NOT BE RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY ITEMS LEFT BEHIND. So please make sure you remove all personal items before you leave.
13- SMOKING IS NOT ALLOWED IN THE HOUSE.
14- We make every effort to maintain the house to the best of our ability. In the event of malfunction of any appliance or amenity, every effort will be made to have repairs made as soon as possible. No refunds will be given for inoperable equipment.
15- Garbage pick-up day is on Wednesday. Guests must put the trash in the brown bear box out on the street the night before for early pick-up the next morning. If guest fails to put the garbage out, guest agrees to pay costs for extra pick up.
16- Cell phone coverage is poor in the house. Guests are welcome of use the house phone for local and long distance calls in the United States. NO INTERNATIONAL CALLS.
17- Upon vacating the premises, guests agree to leave the house in the same condition in which it was found. Listed below are the check-out procedures that guest must follow:
a- Remove all trash the house. Place in appropriate bear box outside the house.
b- Do all your dishes and put them away.
c- All furniture must be put back in place.
d- Clean up any messes, spills that may have occurred.
e- Strip all beds. Leave all linens in a pile.
f- Turn the heat down to 50 degrees. The heat should be turned off in the summer.
g- Turn off both fireplaces.
h- Lock all sliding glass doors and windows.
i- Ensure propane tank on BBQ if off and patio cushions are in garage
j- Close all shades and curtains – THIS IS BEAR COUNTRY – THEY DON’T GO INTO WHERE THEY CAN’T SEE.
k- If you can please turn the dog barking machine and the radio back on
l- Lock the front door and return the key to the lock box.
In the event that the condition of the home requires more cleaning than the deemed normal, it will be considered damage and your deposit is subject to withholding for this service.
18- Be sure to put the house key back in the lockbox after using it to avoid losing the key or becoming locked out. If you lose the key or are locked out a $150 fee will be charged for the locksmith to change the locks.
19- All rules posted on premises, and terms of this contract must be adhered to by guests and their invitees without exception.
From Jun 1 - Aug 31, 2015 the minimum stay is 3 nights.
Flat sreen TV and comfortable sofas - The open kitchen also allows you to interact while cooking.
Wonderful and comfortable place to stay. We were in town for a wedding a few miles up the road at west shore cafe and the home was ready for us when we arrived. The instructions were clear and straight forward. Thank you Frederick and Sophie for a great stay!
We had a great visit to Tahoe City and loved the Quiet Forest Home. Everything was as described!
Sophie was very responsive to our questions. We really enjoyed staying at this cozy cabin which is also at a very convenience location. It is less than 10 minutes drive to Homewood Ski Resort! It is also fairly close to a local Safeway and many decent restaurants near the Lake Blvd. It's a quiet neighborhood. The neighbors are pretty friendly. In addition, I appreciated Sophie has provided us instructions for check-in and departure procedures which were clear and easy to follow. There is also a beautiful lake view only 2 minutes drive for great pictures or selfies! Thanks again for the accommodation!
We had an absolutely lovely stay at Sophie & Frederick's home. We went for a short holiday trip with our 3 year old son and my parents. The home looks just like the pictures and was very comfortable for a family with young kids. The location is outstanding, with very quick access to both the lake itself and Tahoe City. We would definitely come back!
Beautiful house, perfectly appointed and just as the pictures describe. We had a wonderful time staying here with our in-laws and our 2 young kids. There were lots of kids books and games to keep the kids occupied on the one rainy day we had. Although it was off-season, there was plenty to see and do in the area. Just 3 miles from Tahoe city so shops and restaurants are close-by but it's nice to be a little removed from the town too. Lovely neighborhood and plenty of walks/hikes in the area.
