The Space

Our 3B/2Bth house comfortably accommodates up to 6 people. The three bedrooms include a queen, a full and a trundle bed that rolls out to be two twins. The master bedroom has an adjoining bathroom with shower, the other rooms share a bathroom with a bath/shower. The house has been recently remodeled with a new well-equipped kitchen and expansive living area with plenty of seating/reading areas and a flat screen TV with iPod dock/DVD/CD receiver. Wi-fi connections for high-speed internet access. Backyard deck looks out on to the common woods around Timberland with a BBQ and patio area once snow melts away. Horseshoe pits on the side.

Place is kid-friendly - one story with only a couple steps to navigate in the entire house.Pack and Play available - one less thing to pack.

We pride ourselves on having a nice, tasteful place tucked in peaceful woods. Morning walks on the quiet streets then cozy up to the two gas fireplaces as a slight chill envelopes the evening. Tranquility and convenience!

The Neighborhood

Great central West Shore location with lots of options. Timberland is an historic small set of homes plopped right in the middle of the Tahoe Forest surrounded by some hundred year old trees - the quietest nights you'll ever have on the West Shore and a short 3 miles to all the activities at Tahoe City. We are also steps away from Ward Creek Park with a number of running, biking, exploring trials - a great introduction to nature of the little ones or instant rejuvenation with your morning coffee stroll.

As it warms up, lakeside is a great place to be. Walk down the street to Hurricane Bay, a convenient pebbly beach with great vistas. Or drive 3 miles to the beautiful sandy shores of Chambers Landing or a bit further to stunning Meek's Bay. The buzzing outdoor deck of Sunnyside can be reached through a 15 minutes walk through the forest or drive in less than a couple minutes.

Right down the block is the recently renovated Rideout Community Center - indoor basketball courts, kids play room packed with playsets, foozball, air-hockey and more. $2/day and your kid can have fun even on a cold, wet day. When it's sunny, there's a new outdoor play structure/swings, outdoor basketball hoops and a huge soccer field for running around in.

In winter, we are less than 5 minutes from Homewood and 15-20 minutes from Alpine and Squaw, For the non-skiers, snow-shoeing in Ward Creek Park is just a few steps away.

  • We stayed here for the long Memorial day weekend and absolutely loved it. It is a cozy place and exactly what we were looking for. We were a group of 6 working professionals in our late 20s/early 30s and were looking for a quiet, clean and convenient place. The location is great as it is only a few minutes walk from the lake and a short drive to Tahoe City. The house itself is beautiful inside and there is a BBQ grill in the back that we used. Sophie and Frederick were also very nice and accommodating.

  • Frederick and Sophie's place was very conveniently located, comfortable, and well appointed. Given the spring conditions on our late winter stay, we tubed with the kids at Granlibaken just a mile away, then we walked to the beach just a quarter mile away and enjoyed the tahoe shoreline on a beautiful spring day. Then the next day took up some spring conditions at Alpine Meadows - about 8 miles away. Well appointed for kids with child safety precautions and some fun kids books to read! And some games for the whole family. Frederick and Sophie saw to all the details one might need while vacationing or long weekending in Tahoe.

  • Great hosts. On the way up to Tahoe we got rear ended and had to turn around and go home. Sophie worked with AirBnB to get the weekend rescheduled, which we really appreciated. The house was perfect for what we needed, our 4 year old had a fantastic time.

  • 5 of my friends and I went up to Tahoe to ski at Alpine for the weekend. Frederick & Sophie's place was exactly what we needed. A nice, clean, quite place nestled in the woods. It was the perfect place to relax after a long day on the mountain and a long week at work. Thanks again you two for letting us all share you're amazing home!

  • Very nice property. Has living space and family space with two fireplaces. Hosts are very nice and professional. Close to homewood ski resort (6 mins). Next time we are going to tahoe, I will definitely want to stay here again. Thank you for a wonderful stay.

  • This is a great home in a great location. Our stay was excellent. I highly recommend it. It doesn't come through in the pictures, but the backyard is a picturesque natural forest setting. Opening the shades gives a view out back from anywhere in the main living area. It makes for a nice experience.

  • I took two visitors from back home to Frederick and Sophie's house; we enjoyed sitting in the backyard among the big trees and it is indeed very quiet.

Walking to the lake wasn't quite practical to us though since heading straight to the lake gets you to private houses with no lake access; heading south you reach a small beach pretty soon but on our first exploration we got lost heading north. Maybe an annotated map would be a nice addition to the otherwise exhaustive documentation for the house :-)

  • This is a great family house on a quiet street in the gorgeous pine trees. A walk to the lake, a stroll to the playground, and a bit further and you are on the Tahoe Rim Trail. It had everything we needed for family of 4 and grand parents.

  • The house is in a perfect location on Tahoe's west shore -- walkable to Sunnyside, the beach, or several trails. The home was nice too with parts of it appearing to be newly updated (kitchen, living room). It was stocked with all the necessary items for cooking, and had a nice gas BBQ as well. The hosts, Frederick and Sophie, were great communicators and were super responsive and accessible. Lastly, we ran into a bit of an issue during our stay (that was out of their control), but they resolved it in a fair manner. I say this as a positive and appreciate Frederick and Sophie hosting us in their vacation home.
