  • Enjoyed our stay at Bright and Modern barcelona. Had a bit of difficulty getting hold of Goncal due to problems with Global SIM cards so he was messed about a bit but didn't seem too annoyed. Easy to get to by metro once you realise line is over the other side of the Plaza catalunya. Gracia is a bit of a walk from downtown so easiest to take metro. It's cheap and easy. Gracia has plenty of food and entertainment options so don't leave too soon. Well located for walks to Sagrada Familia and the Gaudi buildings. Apartment was neat and tidy and quiet. Amenities were good. We reccomend it. One question. Almost every where we stayed had these hard conjoined pillows. Surely there must be soft pillows in Barcelona somewhere hah!

  • Gonçal is an excellent host, all was very well prepared. The meeting for my entry went flawless, communications throughout the stance equally.
The flat is very nice, the kitchen is extremely well equipped and with some normal grocery shopping you can do all the cooking that you wish for.
Of course the flat is very well located and public transport and monuments in general are close by.
The neighbours are quiet and the windows close very well such that Via Augusta does not intrude.

  • We really enjoyed our stay in the apartment. Communication before and for check in and out was clear, friendly and flexible. We never met our host - a friend of ours met up to collect the keys. An informative booklet about the apartment and the surrounding was emailed before and also placed in the kitchen. We borrowed some guide books of Barcelona from the book shelf, very useful! Modern and comfortable kitchen (not as tiny as many in Spain, our friends said). Heating/ AC was sufficient and good, which was an important factor for us. Two set of keys, excellent! We were out a lot, but also enjoyed good hours in the kitchen and in the sofa. The neighborhoods in Gracia are really nice. We will definitely go back. Our only remark is that there was a smell in the hallway room, which was a bit funny/un-pleasant, unthough not very strong, perhaps temporary because of the damp days this time of year (new year..). A plus for the wardrobe with fresh linnen and towels. Thank you so much for sharing the apartment and making our "new years" a good one!

  • Great apartment and great location. Gracia is probably my favorite area in Barcelona! Bakeries, coffee, groceries and excellent tapas are all within a short walking distance.

Goncal was very helpful - even arranged to deliver some jewelry I had forgotten in the apartment!

Overall, this was a great place to stay in Barcelona!

  • This apartment is located in the Gracia district which is, by far, the best district in which to spend your time in Barcelona. It is centrally located and once you get your bearings (when you're not busy dodging scooters) you have access to the entire city. Goncal was a wonderful host and we actually had the opportunity to have dinner with him and his lovely partner, Sonia. I've read some of the complaints about his apartment in the review. Get a life folks!!! It's two bedrooms, a wonderful living room, wi-fi, with all of the amenities you would expect to find in a cosmopolitan city. I understand that folks have different budgets, but we were fortunate enough to rent his place without the need to share it with anyone else, and you couldn't find a hotel room nearly as nice or as accommodating as Goncal's place for the price that we paid. Perfect. Safe, clean and a morning cup of joe from the taverna on the bottom floor of the building. It doesn't get any better than that.

  • Goncal's apartment is bright, sunny and in a great location to see the sites in Barcelona. We brought our baby with us and didn't want or need to be right in the thick of things. Having the Gracia metro stop, a bakery, bar/cerveceria, and a playground within a block of the apartment was really convenient. The neighborhood market and supermarket is also within a 5 minute walk away.

The layout of the apartment suited the us fine but does not provide much privacy. You have to walk through the larger bedroom in order to enter/leave the apartment; and the 2nd bedroom is only separated from the hallway by a curtain and is right next to the kitchen area.

The apartment was very clean. The couch has a sheet covering it, but it has been used/scratched by the owner's cat. This is just a head's up for people who are allergic to cats.

Communication with Goncal was excellent. The wifi worked without a hitch. We had a very good stay in this apartment.

  • Gonçal was very helpful and responsive and we had a good time at the apartment. The place is exactly as shown at the pictures and location is convenient.

  • My family and I had a very pleasant experience staying in this apartment. The apartment is extremely well located - very close to the Gracias metro station, easy to get taxis and most importantly, is within walking distance to Placa Catalunya (about a 20 minute walk).
The apartment is larger than it appears in the pictures and was very clean when we arrived. The bedroom near the kitchen does not have a door and only has panels like a curtain to provide some semi privacy but not complete privacy.
The air conditioning worked very well for both bedrooms and that was a relief because it was extremely hot when we were there.
There was some construction going on in the next door apartment or building which was very loud but only for a couple of days. I would check with the host about construction before booking.
The wifi worked well and the host was very responsive on e-mail. There are grocery stores nearby and a bakery right across the street.
Sometimes the neighbors (other than construction) were really loud but it didn't last for long.

All in all, I would recommend this apartment. Great location and a gracious host.

  • It was great to stay at this apartment. It is well appointed and very close to everything. The metro is just across the road with trains every few minutes to Catalunya station and it is short walk to Via Diagonal. Felt safe in the neighbourhood even late at night. Also lots of taxis available in the local streets. The apartment is quiet thanks to quality double glazing and the air conditioner was a blessing in mid summer. Wifi worked well and Goncal was very helpful.
